PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2004 "Santa Cruz," by the Thrills. I'd argue that this song is worse than any of those, Saturn. Hmmm The Scientist is more loathed for personal reasons, because my beloved Andrew WK gets flak for using simple piano and guitar parts, but supposedly when you slow it down and use even LESS chords it becomes 'beautiful'. AWK has more emotion in his voice, and Martin can't really hold a note for any longer than him. But Coldplay is so deep, maaan or whatever. Sorry, it's a subject VERY dear to me. The thrills at least have the fact that due to their irish accents they probably can't pronounce their own name.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted March 6, 2004 That shit Maroon 5 released that got into the top 10 in the UK about a month ago, I can't remember what it was called but I consider that a blessing Honourables "No way no way" by Vanilla Cliff Richards Olde Lange Syne and Lords prayer hybrid "Shut up" by Black Eyed Peas, no YOU fucking shut up  "Cha Cha Slide" by DJ Casper
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 I didn't think a human being existed that didn't like "Hey Ya." Wow. Well, I have yet to meet one in person, so I'll ignore that someone here said they didn't. I can't stand "Get Your Freak On" or "One Minute Man." Missy Elliott just disgusts me. Literally, I gag when she does that spit thing in "Get Your Freak On."
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 8, 2004 For all the airplay or whatever that Outkast supposedly gets, I don't think I've heard "Hey Ya" even once. I heard "Miss Jackson" until I wanted to throw bricks, though, so my opinion of them isn't exactly paramount. Smile Empty Soul's "Bottom of a Bottle" will be my most hated song until that band breaks up.
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Avril Lavigne's music, all of it, nearly drove me to murder a friend of mine that listened to her constantly last summer. I'm quite glad that Avril's disappeared, as far as I can tell. And if she hasn't... don't tell me. I just couldn't take it.
Guest KJ Brackish Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Rob........She's still around. Just in the deep end of the pool that they call "WWE"?!?!? Not really, she's just taking some time, *hopefully* working on a new album that is SUCKBAG free! I would like to publically wish you an early "Happy Birthday" from DFA. I'll cya Sunday for WrestleMania! DFA
godthedog 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 off the top of my head, i'd like to add "red, white and blue" by lynyrd skynyrd. when i first heard this song, it came out not too long after "have you forgotten", and, hearing it on a rock station, i thought it was some unknown band doing a parody of that song. and holy shit was it funny. with lyrics like "we love our families, we love our kids/you know it's love that makes us all so rich...if they don't like it they can just get the hell out", how can they NOT be trying to be bad? those lyrics are spinal tap-like in their brilliant intentional badness, putting dumbass horribly trite songs like "have you forgotten" firmly in their place. then a few months later, i found out that the song was by lynyrd skynyrd. and that they weren't kidding, the song was just that bad. i still find the song funny, but in a more sad and pathetic way. Anorak 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 "No way no way" by Vanilla Not sure if you caught that '100 worst singles' show on Channel 4 a few months ago but it was suggested that Vanilla (who made the top 30 'worst' if memory serves) were an inside joke devised by some record company suits who deliberately formed the worst sounding & plainest looking girl group possible. Somebody won their part of the bet because I think they made it to 20 something in the chart. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true, first time me and my mate saw the video on TV we turned to each other and said 'surely this is a joke'? It was THAT bad, 'taking the piss' bad. The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 I didn't think a human being existed that didn't like "Hey Ya." The most annoying part was, I had heard OF the song before I heard it, and I had heard how much everyone liked it. Then I heard it (without realizing what it was at the time) and thought it was grating; it was almost painful to listen to. Then I noticed that everyone around me was enjoying it, and I was all "What the shit is wrong with you people?" Then once I realized what it was, I realized I was going to have to double my "never hear any popular music ever" efforts.

It seemed as if a record company rep drove to somewhere like Slough or Croyden at 2am on a Saturday night and sat in a taxi rank until 4 really ugly drunk birds showed up, which he lured into a recording studio with promises of free kebabs and barcardi breezers. Mind you i guess you could say that about a lot of groups.
Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 The first song that came to mind... The Locomotion..that song they always play at receptions. I hate that damn song.
KTID 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Whatever that "song" is called by that Blink 182 "band". I hate it with a passion. By the way, i am referring to their latest (at least the latest that I heard, though it was about a month back) even though everything i've heard of theirs (a sum total of about 3 songs) is terrible. Dandy 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Now I am a big proponent of music in general and I like something in just about every type of music out there. I am also generally tolerant of everyone else's opinions or at least there right to voice them. However, I take offense to three things posted in this thread. 1) Someone put "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes in the category of worst songs ever 2) Someone stated that "anything by CCR" should be in the worst song ever category 3) Someone stated that they hate bars. That simply offends the alcoholic in me.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I have two songs that I despise more than any other, and they are: "I Know what Boys Like"- The Waitresses "American Pie"- Don McClean

Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 "Amerika The Brutal" - Six Feet Under. An insult to any legacy Chris Barnes had left An insult to a style of music (referring to all heavy metal, not just death metal) that has been ON FIRE in the last 5 years. An insult to Rage Against The Machine. horrible.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 13, 2004 "American Pie"- Don McClean But, what if Mike Patton covers it? You're shitting me. I really can't stand Six Feet Under at all. Barnes is just in it for the money to pay for weed and booze any more. Maybe some pussy, too. SFU's so unbearably cheesy though. And the AC/DC and Monkees covers? Oh my god...what crap. It's unreal. Horrible riffs, gay tappy drums, chuggy dumb gay bass, and Barnes making noise about weed and someone's pancreas. Lividity does 6FU better than they do themselves. Guest Deviant Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I'm trying to consense it into one song or band, although I don't think I can. If I had to name a band, it'd have to be the White Stripes. Force me to listen to their albums and I'll confess to crimes I haven't comitted, I swear. Plus any song, particularily in pop or rap, which is sung about absolutely nothing or something completely irrelevant and stupid like a milkshake...

Well, I have yet to meet one in person, so I'll ignore that someone here said they didn't. *Head explodes* How about those of you sane enough to hate that piece of shit just be glad you don't live in Australia, where that album is on commercial breaks with clips of that self-mutilation-causing "song". B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 "American Pie"- Don McClean But, what if Mike Patton covers it? OK, that's just wrong, snuff. Of course, if Patton were to do a cover of "America Pie", I'd at least give it a listen. I can find solace in the fact that the vocals would OWN, should Mike do said cover. He'd probably add in some crazy, off-the-wall noises that a human being should not be able to make, which'd make the track be worthwhile.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 And the AC/DC and Monkees covers? Oh my god...what crap I'm really glad I know sweet fuck all about this band really. Heard their debut album years ago and then snippets off of the Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles samplers beyond that. I really enjoyed their cover of the Savatage song 'Holocaust' though for some reason. Another choice has to be Limp bizkit doing 'Faith'....two great tastes that taste great together... Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Don't even listen to Six Feet Under to see how bad it is. Just picture the worst Barnes-led Cannibal Corpse album, and then trickle that into a Superjoint Ritual kind of mold, and do seemingly album after album of cover songs that are really shitty. There may be some comedy appeal there, but I can't find it. It sucks.
