Guest stardust Report post Posted February 25, 2004 First time I took it in junior high I think I had like an 1100 or something. Took it again my junior year, I think, and got like a 1420. I did really well my freshman year of college, too--I was on Dean's list and everything. And then I transferred here and it all started going downhill. It looks like I might be able to bring my GPA back up to a 3.0 this semester, though, or at least pretty damned close to it since I'm pulling A's or high B's in all of my classes right now. Guest Brian Report post Posted February 25, 2004 I took it my junior year and got a 1330, which was kind of embarrasing because my uncles and dad were all national merit. Second time I had a 1470, and an 800 in the math section. I wasn't even planning on going to college back then, just going straight to wrestling school. teke184 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 Forgot about this until now but in my final semester of college, I took a standardized test comparing me against all the other graduating seniors in a business major... got in the 92nd percentile, which was pretty motherfuckin' good considering that my major was more computers than business and my alma mater is considered a bit of a joke compared to other schools involved such as Harvard. I took the SAT's falling down drunk and got a 1260, but I'd been accepted into my college before I took them, so I did that just for shits. Otherwise, I was a pretty mediocre student. Finished every question, and guessed on everything I couldn't get in under a minute. I also currently have a GPA of 2.78, which is C+/B- range. I never bothered to take it again, since that was more than enough to get accepted into the college I currently attend. Keep in mind that colleges don't just look at your SAT/ACT scores, they also take into account your GPA, the courses you've taken, your class ranking, and any extracurricular activities you've been involved in. lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2004 I got somewhere in the 1300's, but I took it before they pussied it down for you youngsters (they made the scoring easier in 95 or 96). Heh. Yeah, I took it (In HS at least) back in 1991, long before the era of using calculators and having essay questions. It strikes me as a lot easier now. I wonder, though... with all the talk that standardized tests are unfair to minorities, has the test become easier just on those PC grounds? I never took the SAT, I got a 33 on my ACT. On the subject of unfair standardized tests, the thing is its not like the test makers are intentionally saying, " let's use the word sofa, instead of couch, that will really confuse those little negro children", it's just that some of the wording used in the questions can be somewhat "foreign" to minority and urban students. If a kid has no idea what the hell the words in the question mean just from a social standpoint, not an intellectual one, the kid might do worse. I mean its not really the main reason why urban students do worse. It's more that the school system in many major cities, like Detroit for example, sucks major league ass and the students there don't recieve a quality education because of corruption, lack of funding, and poor teaching. There have been instances in the news where students have been nearly in tears because they want to learn and study, but they can't even do assignments because there are not enough books for every student. Luckily, I never had to worry about that as I went to one of if not the most efficient schools in the state of Michigan. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Eh, here in Texas class rank and GPA are pretty important, especially class rank, since if you're in the Top 10 percent you automatically get accepted to any state school in Texas (meaning UT Austin or Texas A&M or any other number of state colleges and universities here in the state). And if you had a decent GPA you pretty much could go to community college for free for your first two years. So those things were pretty important when I was in high school. At my school, I had like a 3.6 GPA but I took 6 Honors/AP Classes my Junior and Senior years and I also had a 33 on my ACT.
