Mole Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 1010. In CT, we take the CAPT tests sophmore year. I passed all 4 the first time, and I got to wear a pin at graduation. I forgot to wear it.
Guest stardust Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 First time I took it in junior high I think I had like an 1100 or something. Took it again my junior year, I think, and got like a 1420. I did really well my freshman year of college, too--I was on Dean's list and everything. And then I transferred here and it all started going downhill. It looks like I might be able to bring my GPA back up to a 3.0 this semester, though, or at least pretty damned close to it since I'm pulling A's or high B's in all of my classes right now.
Guest Brian Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I took it my junior year and got a 1330, which was kind of embarrasing because my uncles and dad were all national merit. Second time I had a 1470, and an 800 in the math section. I wasn't even planning on going to college back then, just going straight to wrestling school. But I got a good deal working that summer, got stuck, and ended up finishing an AA at the community college in a year.
teke184 Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Forgot about this until now but in my final semester of college, I took a standardized test comparing me against all the other graduating seniors in a business major... got in the 92nd percentile, which was pretty motherfuckin' good considering that my major was more computers than business and my alma mater is considered a bit of a joke compared to other schools involved such as Harvard.
Guest Danny Dubya v 2.0 Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Around the area of 1300.
Guest Bottled Black Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Thank god for KKK I was feeling stupid reading this thread until i saw we got the same score.
Hank Kingsley Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I got a 1320 on the PSAT this year (I'm a sophomore). I'm actually looking forward to the essay section, because I'm going to do a bang-up job on it. When do they start doing that (or have they already)?
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I've scored in the 95-99th percentile in absolutely every subject on every standardized test I have ever taken. I took the SAT's falling down drunk and got a 1260, but I'd been accepted into my college before I took them, so I did that just for shits. Otherwise, I was a pretty mediocre student. Just took tough classes.
Kaertos Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I think I got a 1210, but this was back in 1990 and the test that year was tough. With a 1210 I was still in the 99th percentile. I was 99th percentile in the PSAT and 99th percentile on the ACT.
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 1050, with no studying and no calculator. I think I got somewhere between 550 and 600 in verbal, too. Finished every question, and guessed on everything I couldn't get in under a minute. I also currently have a GPA of 2.78, which is C+/B- range. I still fail to see why people think I'm an idiot just because I don't do jack shit. Oh, wait, that's why. Well, that and I'm a fucking tool.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Thank god for KKK I was feeling stupid reading this thread until i saw we got the same score. Damnit, I wanted the lowest score...
The Czech Republic Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I'm a Midwest guy, so SAT test locations are more scarce and less useful. I got a 28 on the ACT for whatever that's worth.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 (edited) I ended up with a 1420, and I slept through half of one of the math sections. I never bothered to take it again, since that was more than enough to get accepted into the college I currently attend. Edited February 27, 2004 by Tyler McClelland
Guest Jimbo Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 1140 on this past January's test. I came out and thought it was ridiculously easy, yet I seemingly bombed it (in reference to wher EI want to go to school). Whatever, I think some of my answers were fucked considering in one english section, I had 8 of 9 answers given wrong, and 4 seemingly omitted. :-/ I've got a friggin' 3.6 GPA, but I suck ass at these standerdized, multiple choice tests.
Kardo Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 I pulled an 82.95% on the VCE (Australian), which means I did better then 82.95% on the tests than the rest of Australia. How does the SAT work (ie. what's an incredible score?)
Guest Jimbo Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 A perfect score is a 1600, split into two 800 point cumulutive verbal and math tests.

Keep in mind that colleges don't just look at your SAT/ACT scores, they also take into account your GPA, the courses you've taken, your class ranking, and any extracurricular activities you've been involved in. And you have multiple times to take the SAT, too, so if you're not happy with this score try taking it again and see what happens.
Guest Stupuss Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 Got a 26 on the ACT two days after arriving in America from the UK. Didnt even know I had to take it until the day before!
lomasmoney Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 I got somewhere in the 1300's, but I took it before they pussied it down for you youngsters (they made the scoring easier in 95 or 96). Heh. Yeah, I took it (In HS at least) back in 1991, long before the era of using calculators and having essay questions. It strikes me as a lot easier now. I wonder, though... with all the talk that standardized tests are unfair to minorities, has the test become easier just on those PC grounds? I never took the SAT, I got a 33 on my ACT. On the subject of unfair standardized tests, the thing is its not like the test makers are intentionally saying, " let's use the word sofa, instead of couch, that will really confuse those little negro children", it's just that some of the wording used in the questions can be somewhat "foreign" to minority and urban students. If a kid has no idea what the hell the words in the question mean just from a social standpoint, not an intellectual one, the kid might do worse. I mean its not really the main reason why urban students do worse. It's more that the school system in many major cities, like Detroit for example, sucks major league ass and the students there don't recieve a quality education because of corruption, lack of funding, and poor teaching. There have been instances in the news where students have been nearly in tears because they want to learn and study, but they can't even do assignments because there are not enough books for every student. Luckily, I never had to worry about that as I went to one of if not the most efficient schools in the state of Michigan.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Keep in mind that colleges don't just look at your SAT/ACT scores, they also take into account your GPA, the courses you've taken, your class ranking, and any extracurricular activities you've been involved in. Not to mention how much money your parents have donated to the school...
kkktookmybabyaway Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 How is it that I have the lowest SAT score here but yet I'm smarter than everyone? Cuz I'm from the street. One Love yo...

Eh, here in Texas class rank and GPA are pretty important, especially class rank, since if you're in the Top 10 percent you automatically get accepted to any state school in Texas (meaning UT Austin or Texas A&M or any other number of state colleges and universities here in the state). And if you had a decent GPA you pretty much could go to community college for free for your first two years. So those things were pretty important when I was in high school. That's been like six years, though, so things could have changed quite drastically.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 SATs, GPA, and courseload (hint: take AP classes) are all really key, but in recent years the essay has become possibly the most important of all. With so much interest in diverse, vibrant demographics, the essay is pretty crucial for the university to ensure that they're getting someone who'll 'contribute to the community.' It's a dealbreaker. 1530, by the by.

At my school, I had like a 3.6 GPA but I took 6 Honors/AP Classes my Junior and Senior years and I also had a 33 on my ACT. There were kids in my school with 3.7-3.9 GPA's that took less demanding classes and as a result are going to MSU
