Lil' Bitch Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 The Top 10 I meant* 10. "The Tick" (Live version) 9. "My So-Called Life" 8. "The Ben Stiller Show" 7. "Sports Night" 6. "Firefly" 5. "NewsRadio" 4. "Family Guy" 3. "Homicide: Life on the Street" 2. "Freaks and Geeks" / "Undeclared" 1. "Mr. Show with Bob and David"
Guest Choken One Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Fuck that... HOMICIDE was #1 but let's be fair...the show lasted like 7 years.
Guest El Satanico Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Bullshit...even Newsradio fans know the show was garbage after Phil's death.
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Fuck that, Choken. None of those shows - NONE - can touch Mr. Show. And fuck Joss Whedon. I just wanna say that. Every single time I watch Buffy late at night, I can't help but think of what an overrated schmuck he is. All of the characters on Buffy are bland, and I just can't help but hate him for writing the script to Alien Resurrection.
Guest EQ Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I'd say Family guy deserves to be in the top 3
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 10. "The Tick" (Live version) - didn't watch 9. "My So-Called Life" - loved this show 8. "The Ben Stiller Show" - saw some of this - liked it 7. "Sports Night" - very good show 6. "Firefly" - didn't watch 5. "NewsRadio" - MOST FAVORITEST SHOW EVER. Not so much, though, w/ Lovitz 4. "Family Guy" - watch a bit on Cartoon Network - nothing special 3. "Homicide: Life on the Street" - didn't watch 2. "Freaks and Geeks" / "Undeclared" - didn't watch 1. "Mr. Show with Bob and David" - very good show. Surprised it made #1 Bullshit...even Newsradio fans know the show was garbage after Phil's death. But the 4 seasons w/ Hartman were great.
RavishingRickRudo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 There is no FUCKING way Family Guy (which I loved), News Radio (which I really liked), F&G/Undeclared (both which I gave a chance and didn't dig), aren't better than Firefuckingfly (FUCK YOU LAZ!). Homicide and Mr. Show I haven't seen so I can't comment.
Tawren Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Fuck that, Choken. You call a lesbian witch struggling with an addiction to magic and a problem with overcompensating to help others as well as trouble expressing herself bland? A vampire who tortured and killed people for over two centuries but then was cursed with a soul and if he ever has a true moment of happiness he is reverted back to his evil self which he hates, who is in love with a teenage girl struggling with the fact that she was chosen to fight vampires and other demons and has isolation problems, BLAND? You, my good sir, are wrong.
RavishingRickRudo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I just can't help but hate him for writing the script to Alien Resurrection. To be fair, he wouldn't blame you for this. ...and maybe by "bland" CL means "white".. Buffy wasn't exactly multicultural... unless you call various demons ethnic diversity Either way, this doesn't take away from "the best show ever" Firefly. Whose characters were far from bland... cept maybe Inara. BUT SHE WAS HOT.
treble Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 They forgot Andy Richter Controls the Universe. And Tucker, that show ruled.
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 There is no FUCKING way Family Guy (which I loved), News Radio (which I really liked), F&G/Undeclared (both which I gave a chance and didn't dig), aren't better than Firefuckingfly (FUCK YOU LAZ!). Homicide and Mr. Show I haven't seen so I can't comment. "Aren't", or "are"?
Downhome Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 What was the reasoning behind cancelling Freaks & Geaks and Sports Night? Both of those shows were great, two of my favorites.
the max Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 5 of the 10 (My So-Called Life, Ben Stiller Show, Sports Night, Newsradio, Mr. Show) are among my favorite shows ever.
Guest El Satanico Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Bullshit...even Newsradio fans know the show was garbage after Phil's death. But the 4 seasons w/ Hartman were great. But it deserved to be cancelled when it was.
Henry Spencer Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 10. "The Tick" (Live version) - Liked it, but it didn't hold a candle to the cartoon. 9. "My So-Called Life" - Meh. 8. "The Ben Stiller Show" - Meh. 7. "Sports Night" - Overrated. 6. "Firefly" - Stupid. 5. "NewsRadio" - I have actually never seen a single episode of this this. 4. "Family Guy" - One of the funniest shows of all time, and a personal favorite of mine. 3. "Homicide: Life on the Street" - Not really the type of thing I enjoy. 2. "Freaks and Geeks" / "Undeclared" - Really good. 1. "Mr. Show with Bob and David" - Hilarious, but shouldn't be number one.
Guest El Satanico Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 What was the reasoning behind cancelling Freaks & Geaks and Sports Night? Both of those shows were great, two of my favorites. The same reason 99% of cancelled shows are cancelled...ratings.
RavishingRickRudo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Correction, ARE. I got my negatives mixed up. Thank you. "There is no FUCKING way Family Guy (which I loved), News Radio (which I really liked), F&G/Undeclared (both which I gave a chance and didn't dig), are better than Firefuckingfly (FUCK YOU LAZ!)."
Guest Choken One Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 What was the reasoning behind cancelling Freaks & Geaks and Sports Night? Both of those shows were great, two of my favorites. Bad Ratings I guess... Sports night only survived to a second season because of the AMAZING critical acclaim. Homicide was the thinking man's L&O. It had a good run in it's horrible Friday night slot. It got dumped for a show called "cold feet" that lasted 3 weeks.
Downhome Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Well that sucks, it seems like most shows that I have started to watch over the past few years just get canned. I guess that's why I don't really watch many sitcoms or anything anymore. I hate getting into something and then it just...going away.
CanadianChris Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 You know, I don't think there was ever a reason given for Sports Night getting cancelled...it just didn't show up on the schedule for the following season. I don't even remember there being an announcement. I think Sorkin wasn't too eager to do another season, though, given how ABC was dicking the show around and he was getting into The West Wing. Sports Night and The Job (one that would've made my list) are the reasons I don't watch ABC anymore, except for sports.
Guest ToddRoyal Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 "Homicide" was a great show, and I'm pissed it hasn't been picked up in syndication yet, especially with the recent success of L&O and CSI. At least Munch is still alive and well (though a bit watered down) on SVU.
MrRant Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 #1 should be Star Trek:TOS bitches. All the other shows except for Family Guy deserved it.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 If it were my list I would read: 1> Quantum Leap 2> Northern Exposure 3> Unsolved Mysteries 4> Beyond Belief In no particular order
JHawk Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 10. "The Tick" (Live version) -- never saw it 9. "My So-Called Life" -- only saw an episode or two 8. "The Ben Stiller Show" -- I saw every episode and while I enjoyed it well enough, I certainly wasn't upset when it was cancelled 7. "Sports Night" -- What killed this one is non-sports fans thought it would be a sports show and didn't watch it, and sports fans turned it off because it wasn't a sports show. 6. "Firefly" -- Never saw it 5. "NewsRadio" -- Like everybody said, the Phil Hartman years were great 4. "Family Guy" -- Excellent show 3. "Homicide: Life on the Street" -- If we're including shows that were on the air for seven years, then there are a lot of shows better than this that could be included. Taking nothing away from Homicide's excellence though. 2. "Freaks and Geeks" / "Undeclared" -- I never saw Freaks and Geeks, but the only reason to watch Undeclared was staring at the hot chicks 1. "Mr. Show with Bob and David" -- Good show? Yes. Number one? Pushing it.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 10. "The Tick" (Live version) (NEVER SAW) 9. "My So-Called Life" (HATE IT) 8. "The Ben Stiller Show" (LIKE IT ENOUGH) 7. "Sports Night" (LIKE IT) 6. "Firefly" (GREATEST SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF EVER) 5. "NewsRadio" (GREAT SHOW...UNTIL HARTMAN DIED) 4. "Family Guy" (GREAT SHOW) 3. "Homicide: Life on the Street" (DON'T CARE) 2. "Freaks and Geeks" / "Undeclared" (DON'T CARE) 1. "Mr. Show with Bob and David" (FUNNIEST SHOW EVER)

You, my good sir, are wrong. Let me just add to this: Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so a vampire who is the only vampire to kill two slayers, ends up in Sunnydale only to notice that he can't kill this slayer, get a chip in his head from the Gov't so he can't kill humans anymore, become good without a soul, falls in love with a slayer, fucks her who doesn't love him, goes off to the an odd place and fights for his soul, comes back and saves the world, then comes back from the dead. And THAT IS bland? You humor me and now I hate you.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 We can do this for every character. That would be...neat. One word. Two Syllables. Ripper.
