Complete WrestleMania DVD collection

I always find myself not purchasing the WrestleMania DVDs because I'm waiting for the 1-20 package, 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 or whatever.

 

Perhaps some of you have a little more insight in the DVD scene than I do. Will it happen in the near future?

 

Obviously, content wise, the potential is mind blowing. I mean extras highlighting what lead to the matches, retrospect interviews and so on.

 

But with Jesse Ventura edited out from most previously unreleased footage, logo problems and so on, is it just to much of a hassle for WWE? I hope not.

Still, hassle or no hassle, there's too much money to be made by a WrestleMania DVD set for it not to be released eventually.

 

They should release it around May to coincide with the WrestleMania XX release, but that's way too soon.

But they're editing Jesse out of the WWF stuff too.

Not only that, but they've also edited out any commentary that refers to the WWF (thanks a lot, panda WWFuckers). I guess if I want uncut WrestleMania PPVs, I'll have to stick to my VHS copies.

When did they edit Jesse out of WWF stuff? He was on the Hogan-Andre match, the orndorff-hogan match and a couple of other matches on the dvd sets. The only one I can think of is on the Foley dvd during Foleys first match. The reason he is edited out there is because all of that was previously unreleased on video, all of the wrestlemanias were previously released on video, making his past deal still acceptable.

They could safely use the Attitude Logo, and any reference to the WWF, as long as they don't market the DVDs outside of North America.

A Wrestlemania DVD set would be the ultimate, definitive collection of wrestling PPVs.

 

How much do you think it'd run?

I'm guessing it would be in different volumes?

These shows (as well as 19 and certainly 20) are out on individual DVD release and wil probably be left blank spaces in the box, to encourage you to go buy the other stuff and give them more money.

I'd say this would run around the price of 200 and up. When the first collection came out 1-13 or 14 some number like that was $100-120 when I first saw it.

I got WrestleMania: The Collection (1-13) for $80 (plus S&H) when it first came out. The cool thing about this particular WrestleMania box set is that they're the full PPV versions (except for WM 11, which was the "Encore Plus" version).

 

The WWF's later WrestleMania box sets ("The Legacy") didn't include the PPV versions. I've even heard some people say that the "Legacy" versions cut some stuff out, like the Piper's Pit segment for WM V.

How about if they released one of them every month or two, but much like with the 2003 PPVs they sent you a collector's box to put them in when you sent in the proofs of purchase?

 

Granted, we'd be at WrestleMania XXII when we got that far, but that might be more feasible.

I doubt that, for WrestleMania XIX at least, they'd be able to leave a spot in the box for it, as it has it's own spine art.

 

And indeed, a WrestleMania DVD box set would be fantastic, as long as WWE don't fuck it up, as they have done with their DVDs time and time again.

The idea would be that by the time you got to WrestleMania XIX again, the spine art would be different for the new box. It would be a re-release with new extra features and stuff.

I have the one of Wrestlemania I-XV, and it has Piper's Pit and the WM XI Encore too. I can't tell you about the scratch logo, because I didn't really pay attention. Does it really matter what logo is in the corner of the screen? I don't think they even started using it until X. I'll check it againt later though.

For the Box sets. I would make seperate ones. Every box sets has 5 WrestleMania's in them. And every wrestlemania would come with a collectors book. So it'd look like this.

 

Box set 1: 1-5

 

Box set 2: 6-10

 

box set 3:11-15

 

Box set 4: 16-20

 

It would generate a higher revenue that way and more people would most likely buy it like that. I didn't want to buy the big ass case that had all the tapes it just because it was so damn huge.

I'm under the impression the only time they have to blur or bleep "WWF" is on TV.

 

I know I've seen references to "WWF" in recently DVD releases.
