Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 Three MK games makes it an instant buy for me, with the other stuff just being a bonus for me. I agree with Sakura, though, UMK3 would be an awesome addition to really round off the Mortal Kombat experience on the compilation. Alas, this rocks six kinds of ass as it is. Anya 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2004 UMK3 not being in is just stupid. As far as the arcade version goes it's not even technically a seperate game. It's just a ROM update to MK3. It bugs me seeing MK3 refered to as "MK III" everywhere in relation to this. It's "3". MK II is the only one to use roman numerals. A minor thing, but still annoying. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 The Magic Box says these are the games on vol.2 A.P.B., Arch Rivals, Championship Sprint, Cyberball 2072, Gauntlet 2, Hard Drivin', Mortal Kombat I, II, III, NARC, Pit Fighter, Primal Rage, Rampage World Tour, Spy Hunter 2, Steel Talons, STUN Runner, Timber, Total Carnage, Wizard of Wor, Xenophobe, Xybots. http://www.the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm Just got the new GI--who are keeping up their usual fine journalist standards ("Matt Parker and Trey Stone"). It gets a whopping paragraph-long review. EDIT: Kozmik Krooz'r (whatever the hell that is) is in; Steel Talons, MKI, STUN Runner are out. Timber isn't listed, Timber Wacko is. I don't know if that's different or not. Yes, it's MK3, not UMK3. I don't get it either, but I'm not all that eager to play it so it's no big deal to me. No complaints about how it was ported. However, this is GI, so it's very likely they didn't even bother checking. No separate reviews for the two different console versions. "Oh yeah, that miserable quarter-stealer Pit Fighter is included as well. That game always sucked." Well, that got that right. This issue is 162 pages. Most of it is ads, though. GI still sucks. Funny that they did a "most influential" list just like 1up.com (an affiliate of ZD) did. Big shock, FFVII ass-kissing is included.

Guest Smues Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Wait, STUN runner IS one of the games? I heard it got cut. I loved that fucking game so I hope it is still there.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 where the FUCK is Rolling Thunder??? Oh well, I'll scoop this up anyway so fuck it... EDIT: Spy Hunter 2? awesome!!!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Oops--no Stun Runner. Sorry--I looked too quickly and thought Spy Hunter 2 was it. Release date is currently slated for October 11th. EDIT: Shame about Stun Runner. Oh, here's the game no one had even heard about-- http://www.vgmuseum.com/pics/kozmik.html Rolling Thunder is a Namco game, so I don't think you'll see it on any collections. Yeah, Atari published the American arcade version, but it was still a Namco game, and Namco themselves did the NES version, I believe. Rolling Thunder was a part of Namco Museum Encore, a sixth release of the Namco Museum collection (they ran out of letters...) that had Rolling Thunder....and not much else. It's import only, so if you happen to have an import-ready PS1 or a PS2 set up to play PS1 imports, by all means go ahead. The rest of Encore doesn't seem to justify a purchase, though. Here's a rant about the collection: http://www.toastyfrog.com/features/games/namco_encore.shtml
Guest Smues Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Damn. I didn't care when they cut Mortal Kombat 1, but cutting Stun runner sucks. That game was awesome.
Guest carnage Report post Posted September 20, 2004 the compilatons are pretty cool. iwas glad to get the original defender on MW vol 1(It was better than the remake) and now I'll get gaunlet 2 and the mortal combats. not to shabby
MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 I kinda wish they would have dropped Rampage World Tour and replaced it with something else.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 I agree. Rampage wasn't THAT popular, certainly not enough to warrant that place in a classic arcade compliation.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 Why the hell not Rampage World Tour? The first one was okay but far inferior to World Tour.
Anya 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 It IS World Tour.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 It IS World Tour. You misunderstood--they'd rather Rampage World Tour be nixed--I'm well aware the first Rampage was on the original collection. However, World Tour is a lot better and I don't see why anyone would *not* want it, aside from already owning one of the console ports. Since I never picked up any of the console ports, I'm glad to have it.
Anya 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 I know I want it. It's pretty cool. I used to have the PSX port, but got rid of it. I like how this is games from the 90's. I'm sick of all the retro collections. A lot of the vids for this show MKT footage when hyping MK3. Very dumb. Primal Rage 2 needs to be hidden or in MAT3.
