Brock Lesnar quits WWE after Mania!

Recommended Posts

Guest Goodear

The point simply is that Brock shouldn't be spinning his wheels with Gunn and Holly on a house show circut. They don't have the heat to pull such wildly out of proportion card disparity and make a good match out of it. You put Brock against Rey Mysterio and I can pretty much say that Rey is going to lose 100 out of 100 times. But because Mysterio has heat, people will still care about the match. But Gunn in singles and Holly outside of Hardcore rules are worthless in that regard so basically you have Brock wasting his time. Its really the difference between headlining a card with Flair versus Ricky Morton or Flair versus Butch Reed. Flair is going to come out of both of those with the belt, but folks are only going to care about the first.

Everyone else has that travel schedule too...and they don't make as much money to do it.

He has been asked to carry SD for the last 2 years, first as the #1 heel, then #1 face, then back to #1 heel. The 2 other "big names" on the show (Angle & Taker) have both had some pretty extended breaks (due to injuries, but still time off).

Guest THE MIGHTY THOR

He's been asked to carry SD?????Brock knew from the get-go that he was getting a huge push with huge money, nobody ever said that it was going to be an easy job. There are plenty of guys that have the same schedule as Lesnar w/o the monster push and i don't hear them complaining about the travel schedule. But i blame this on Vince, instead of having this kid pay his dues like everybody else and make him earn his push, he decided to hand him everything on a silver platter, and as far as i'm concerned Brocky hasn't done anything to make SD successful, the ratings are still the same as they were a year ago and ppv buyrates/house show sales haven't increased at all.If i was Vince i'll teach him a lesson and give another wrestler that truly deserves it(meaning someone that has paid his dues in the WWE and is over with the crowd)Lesnar's main event spot.

Tough titties.

He's young & healthy.

They're older and more broken down.

If he can't handle being a main event star, then step aside and let them put someone new in there. Eddie, Cena, whomever.

Brock's Problems Getting No Sympathy From Other Wrestlers

Everyone does have the same travel schedule ya know...

The news that Brock Lesnar may take time off due to not being happy with WWE's tough travel schedule is getting no sympathy from the other wrestlers. The general feeling is that everyone has to go through the schedule but everyone does not get the spot that Brock has or the money Brock makes. Most feel Brock knew what he was getting into and now cannot take the pressure.

Lesnar *is* over. And considering he's been there for 2 years, he's paid his dues.

Who, exactly, would you stick into his spot? Keep in mind it has to be a heel, so that rules out RVD.

What is 'paying your dues' anyway? Is the only way to do that is to job for most of your early career or to spend years risking injury in some dank bingo hall in front of maybe 50 fans?

As far as I'm concerned, he's paid his dues and has earned his spot on top of the card. Lesnar complained about his travel schedule and his spot, big deal. Everyone is out there to protect their spot and to try and advance to the next level, but it seems only RVD is allowed to whine like a little bitch without having the smark community on his ass.

Your argument doesn't seem to make much sense. Van Dam complains about the writers and the role he's been given in WWE - and many, including myself, feel those arguments are jusitifed. RVD doesn't complain about his travel schedule, the fact that he's been working too hard, or that he's going to be punked out in a feud. All he WANTS is a high-profile feud. He was bitched out to Kane every week in their feud in August - yet, as we heard on Byte This from around that time, he didn't really mind. RVD complains about not being given the opportunity to have a chance.

However, Brock IS complaining about the travel schedule. Despite the fact that he went out and bought himself a PRIVATE PLANE - which is being paid for by Vince & Company - he's complaining that he's being worked too hard. Despite the fact that nearly every other wrestler in the locker room has to put up with the same schedule, without the comfort of their own private air-travel AND without the plushy spot at the top Brock has. Brock is also complaining about that he's being worked too hard. Yet, in the same token, we hear of him pulling certain political moves to keep his spot on Smackdown. So.....what is it? If you want the main angles to be built around you, and you're pulling moves to achieve that, then you must deal with the pressure. But if you would like to relax for a little while and move yourself away from the pressures of the Main-Event scene, you need to let someone else have the opportunity. Brock is looking to do two things at once - two things that don't seem to go together. You can't be a Main-Eventer, and have an easier schedule all at the same time (unless you're the new Mr. McMaHHHon.)

THEN Brock is bitching about the fact that he'll be put into a Main Event program with the Undertaker - the eventual #1 face on Smackdown. It would probably be the top program on Smackdown, but Lesnar is whining and bitching about it in the locker room. Certain guys are dreaming of the opportunity to have such a high-profile feud. Hell, guys like Matt Hardy and Paul London aren't even getting on WrestleMania, and Lesnar has a big match. Yet, he continues to complain with no regard for the people around him. IMAGINE - being put once again in a Main Event program with the top face of Smackdown. Oh, the humanity~!

I gotta agree with the guy above me... when Brock starts getting misused as badly as Benoit, then he'll have my sympathy.

A Judgement Day 98 finish to Brock/Goldberg really is looking more and more likely...

Other than the complaints, what political moves has he pulled? Other than being a "star", he really doesn't have much political pull, IMO.

And it's not just a program w/ Taker. Taker would come out the winner in the feud, but there's really no reason why they should be feeding Brock to Taker without it being part of some bigger plans for Brock.

More On Brock Lesnar's WWE Status & Future

WWE management may force him to take time off...

As reported earlier, Brock Lesnar's relationship with WWE is currently very strained and he may take time off following WrestleMania XX. Lesnar is upset not only about WWE's travel schedule, but also that he is not being booked as Smackdown's top talent, had to work shows in South Africa against Bob Holly, and is scheduled to feud with the Undertaker (a guy who almost always is put over) following WrestleMania XX.

Most sources indicate that Brock is very disliked backstage right now and that he is not considered "one of the boys." One wrestler went as far as to say "nobody likes him."

It has gotten to the point now where even if Brock does not ask for time off following WrestleMania XX, WWE may force him to simply to cool him down from his current state.

If you're brought in to be a monster heel, you should actually be treated like a monster heel. Starting out, Brock was awesome, because they sold you on the idea that he LIKES to hurt people, and that no matter how hard you try to stop him, he WILL find a way to get his hands on you and beat the shit out of you. Making him look petrified of HARDCORE HOLLY of all people does not exude an aura of intimidation. Having him almost break down in tears because he lost the title does not exude an aura of intimidation. Feeding him to some guy on his last years wrestling for the company, just because Vince feels like it, does not exude an aura of intimidation.

You're basically getting upset over Brock not liking being treated like a doormat, as if he somehow deserves the disrespect getting sent his way. Plus, as the article notes, Lesnar is not alone in being pissed over how things have gone as of late:

The general consensus in the locker room was that the whole tour of South Africa was handled wrongly.

Interestingly enough, The Undertaker's return with his old gimmick has not gone down very well at all in the Smackdown locker room, as many wrestlers feel that his old gimmick always portrayed the wrestler as invincible, and that he didn't "sell" other wrestlers moves. They feel that Smackdown should be moving forward with the new talent, and not reverting to old ideas.

So, are the dissenters in the Smackdown! locker room also whiny little bitches? It would appear they share some of the same gripes that Brock has, afterall. As an aside, if we're going to get on Brock's case about wanting to quit, why don't we get on Spanky's case for actually quitting (although he did so in a civil way)?

This isn't Brock upset some young wrestler like Cena or Edge was scheduled to beat him and he got upset. This isn't Brock wanting to set up an angle were he BURIES a wrestler before the match, makes it look like they have no chance, tells them why they have no chance and then proceed to prove they have no chance.

This is Brock, after beating GOLDBERG on the BIGGEST show of the year finding out he is to be served to Taker. Who do you think comes after Brock? Eddie or Angle, depending on who is champ would be next in line.

IF this is true (and I huge if at that) then Brock would beat Goldberg, then lose to Taker who would win the title at Summerslam from either Eddie or Angle.

If Brock got pissed that he was to lose to Cena, then yeah I'd call egomaniac. But this isn't that situation.

As for the travel schedule, it just sounds like he is the only one wanting to say anything about the bs. Sounds like he does need a vacation though.

I think it's good Lesnar is speaking up. At least he admits he's getting burned out and needs some time off. I'll take this instead of him becoming a crackhead like some or pulling a bunch of political crap to get his way.

It's not like Austin who jobbed the title to Angle, took a few weeks off due to being burned out, then returning on his first night back to win the title. Or like HBK, Hogan, Taker, etc, etc,.

Poor Brocky, he is being screwed by WWE big time, that huge push to the top in less than a year was his punishment for stiffing Holly, him winning at the Royal Rumble 2003 and KOR 2002 was WWE's new definition of being HHHeld down, Lesnar main eventing on his first Wrestlemania was his punishment for not being over as a babyface compared to Austin or Rock or even RVD, Lesnar main eventing against Goldberg and most likely winning is his punishment for not being a big ppv and house show draw. Damn, Vince is screwing Lesnar big time, like i said poor Brocky.

Everyone complains about their job. Doesn't matter what you do or how much you make. Hollywood stars say they love what they do but hate the long hours on the set. Musicians love to be on stage but hate the long hours of traveling on the road. Millionaires who run a huge corporate business complain about the long work stiffs that take time away from their family. Rich sport stars complain about traveling and other things.

All those guys complain about the WWE road schedule. Just Brock Lesnar has heat so this is made to be bigger then it should be.

The man is making millions of dollars, has his own plane,he is set for life in WWE, he's been pushed down our throats since day one and he is going to complaint about the travel schedule and his future in the WWE??!!Please, stop the bullshit, he doesn't have a right to say anything because he knew what he was getting into, he is not the only one that has problems, there are other wrestlers that bust their asses in the ring night in and night out , for less money, questionable future ,with the same travel schedules but without the push Lesnar is getting. It seems to me that the reason Lesnar is frustrated is because Eddie's championship reign has improved House show sales, something that Brock has never done.

I'm pretty sure, that never in his wildest imagination, did he think he'd he be booked to run away from Bob Holly for almost three months.

Whoa! Brock Lesnar is DONE with the WWE at Wrestlemania XX?

But so is Goldberg...

...ok, now I have no idea who the hell is going over if this is true.

I guess they are doing the Judgment Day '98 deal at WM20, where Austin beats the shit out of both guys and declares himself the winner.

But that's the biggest cop out EVER!

And if they get Lesnar back, then how does he get vengeance against Austin? Same can be said for Goldberg to a lesser extent.

This will really fuck up a lot of things if done that way.

Come back and fry me on Monday if I'm wrong but there's NO CHANCE that Judgement Day'98 will happen. We'll probably see a Stunner but Brock is going over at WrestleMania.

And I couldn't agree more with whoever it was pointing out that this is Brock complaining about the negative aspects of his career. I'm sure most of his peers think of the travel schedule as a downside part of their job.

And can someone clear this out if possible. I've heard that considering his position Brock's not making thaaat much money compared to the other workers.

With WWE being the only big money option for most workers only a selected few are in a position where they can complain about these things.

I liked the Flair/Gibson as opposed to Flair/Reed comparison. People will go to Cawthon's site five-ten years from now and see Brock/Holly and wonder wtf was going on.

Good for Brock for speaking his mind and actually admitting he's tired and telling Vince he's taking time off. I don't care if it makes him seem like a "cry baby." I don't agree with the "Boo hoo, he was givin' a huge push so he should just shut up and do his job."

It's his* job and he has every right to speak his mind. Not everyone is the same. Some guys need the time off. Big reason why some guys like working the indy scene and doing some shows or tours in Japan because after that they can go home and rest up a little before doing it all over again.

I'd rather see Brock get called a cry baby by the guys in the back and people on the Internet instead of him over pushing himself and becoming a pill popping alcoholic who will end up dead before the age of 40.

MOTHER FUCKER!

MORE ON BROCK LESNAR LEAVING WWE, INCLUDING HIS NEW CAREER CHOICE

by Dave Scherer @ 11:51:12 AM on 3/10/2004

As we reported earlier today, Brock Lesnar announced yesterday that his last date for WWE would be at WrestleMania. We have more information on the story and this is definitely one of those situations where truth is stranger than fiction.

Brock Lesnar stood up in front of the Smackdown crew yesterday at the pre-show talent meeting and announced that he was leaving WWE after WrestleMania to pursue a career in the National Football League.

Lesnar, who recently signed a 7-year deal with the WWE, told Vince McMahon of his decision last Tuesday at Smackdown, a meeting we reported on earlier this week. As we said in that story, this situation started coming to a head when Lesnar, who has become burnt out by WWE’s travel schedule (and reportedly also by his recent push from the main event status down the card) for some time, was then sent to work on the big South Africa tour but was “only” put into matches Hardcore Holly instead of higher profile bouts. He met with Vince McMahon last week at Smackdown and voiced his concerns and informed him at that time that he was going to leave WWE.

Lesnar, has also reportedly been upset that he was going to have to put over the Undertaker’s Dead Man character after Mania, and be in a feud with a guy who, by the nature of his character, doesn’t sell for his opponent. This all led up to yesterday’s announcement.

From what our sources have told us, Lesnar informed everyone at the meeting that he was miserable in the business. He said that it was not any reflection on the business per se, but he just couldn't find happiness in the industry any more.

He publicly thanked Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Gerry Brisco "for finding me in college," and thanked Big Show and Paul Heyman for all their help with his career. He told the crew he wouldn't be back and he was said to be very emotional and wished everyone well.

The announcement was met with mixed reactions from the people in the company that I spoke with. Some felt that it opened up opportunities for the talent. Others, who had been critical of Brock’s “elitist” behavior of late and felt that he hadn’t earned his stripes, let alone deserved to be upset about not being pushed as a main-eventer, told me that now they can understand that he may have been that way because he was unhappy.

No matter how you look at it, WWE is losing one of their top wrestlers, at least for now. I never say never in the business, but at this point in time Lesnar is completely serious about leaving wrestling.
