King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 Simple question. Who's going to steal the show at Wrestlemania? Or what 'sleeper match' steals the show? Obviously Michaels/Foley/Angle and the like will put on their usual good showings. But...who actually makes a name for themself on the big show? The Jericho/Christian match is a good bet, but Christian will have to put on the best straight singles match of his career to do so. Then there's Randy Orton who should, if everything goes right, end up warranting his card position more after the show. Or John Cena, set to win the US Title. You know that F-U will pop the crowd if he hits it, but will it be his big break. That's not to mention the possibility (remote as it is) of Ultimo winning the Cruiser Title. Or Eddie and/or Benoit cementing himself/themselves as bona fide main eventers. Kane could put himself major over with a good showing. Hell, who knows, The Bashams might put on a ***** performance. There's more room this year for someone to BECOME a star...but who?

notJames 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 EDDY~! v. Angle will blow everything else away. I don't know if I'm happy or sad about it, since it's a given that it will be the best match on the card. Nothing else stands out for me. Maybe if the cruisers are allowed to use ladders and other crazy balls-out shit, they could pull off a spot-tastic sleeper match. But I'm not holding my breath. Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted March 9, 2004 I have a feeling Lesnar/Goldberg could be shockingly good, if booked in the same vein the WCW Steiner/Goldberg matches were from a couple years ago.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 I personally think a solid match would be enough to push Christian up to Y2J/RVD/Booker levels or upper-midcardness. He has the out of the ring side sorted to a tee now. This could be like Y2J/HBK, only the other way around...Jericho puts over XTain. (Yes I know HBK won...) NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 cruiserweight battle royale if done right and given a good amount of time. It will be a clusterfuck for the beginning, but once it gets down to about 4 guys, it should be good.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Jericho/X has been getting STRONG reviews from the house shows, so It could potentially hit the ***1/2+ mark. Here's another question...With 4 Hours...What are the times? CW Open-15 Minutes SD Tag-12 Minutes Raw Tag-8 Minutes Woman's Title-8 Minutes PLayboy Match-5 Minutes US Title-14 Minutes Jericho/X- 20 Minutes Triple Threat-30 Minutes Goldberg/Brock-18 Minutes Kane/Taker-12 Minutes Rock n Sock/Evolution-20 Minutes Eddy/Angle-35 Minutes
Brocklock 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 US Title-14 Minutes That is pretty long for Cena/Show. I say maybe about 8 minutes is good for it. Most of the Brock/Show matches were about that length or shorter, and Show would get way too blown up for a 14 minute 1 on 1 match without any gimmicks or anything. Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 I was thinking it would be an 8 minute match but something tells me they are going for the remarkable "comeback" approach here with Cena's Leg. Basically, Show dominates for 7 minutes and Cena does the superman comeback and hits the FU for the monster pop and wins and does the Freestyle Victory Rap. Guest Deviant Report post Posted March 10, 2004 4 hours? The show goes for 5. Did I miss a news story or something? I personally think that Jericho/Christian will be the Match of the Undercard.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Angle/Eddy depends on whether they decide to do the same old thing they've been doing and break away from the mold. Same thing goes for the cruiserweights, whether they get that option.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Jericho/Christian is gonna shock people and catapault Christian into the star he rightfully should be.
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Eddy and Angle will have to go all out, they're the title match at WMXX for God's sake. They must break the mold. They must. If they fall below **** I will be terribly disappointed, but I can't see it happening. It's a potential classic if Angle decides to sell correctly.
AlwaysPissedOff 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Jericho/Christian is gonna shock people and catapault Christian into the star he rightfully should be. There's a chinlock joke to be made here, but I'm too damned tired to make it. On a minor sidenote: If Shitstain blows this opprotunity, it'll at least confirm my opinion that Captain Chinlock licketh teh ass and that Jericho better pray to Jeebus that he can get something out of him. There's a chinlock joke to be made here, but I'm too damned tired to make it. Eh. I like the character better than the matches any way. And, while yes, the chinlock's are his fault, Christian hasn't exactly gotten the cream of the crop to work with until now. On a minor sidenote: If Shitstain blows this opprotunity, it'll at least confirm my opinion that Captain Chinlock licketh teh ass Replace all Xian mentions with Orton, and you have my feelings on the show. Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Right, If Orton can't get heat (and we know he can't) by killing Foley in MSG...it will all but CONFIRM that Orton's push was a complete failure. I do believe X can perform on this Stage, the reports are saying the Matches have been long and great. I wonder if they will go with the WMVII scenario I proposed...They should, as it gives X the Rub, Jericho is redeemed in the end and it adds to the "legancy" of the match ala WMVII. Guest Besus Report post Posted March 10, 2004 Right, If Orton can't get heat (and we know he can't) by killing Foley in MSG...it will all but CONFIRM that Orton's push was a complete failure. Orton for 5 straight Raws, has got heat.(Hear the "asshole" chants and boos Monday?) Every day you saying "Orton isn't going to get heat or can't".Are you ignoring the fact he has got heat every Raw since February 9th? And it's no "we know he can't" it's "I wish he don't" so I can bitch like Mixx on a Monday night. If he does get heat, you'll deny as usual.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted March 10, 2004 If Christian applies a single chinlock in that entire match he should be shot in the face. Honestly we all know how much Christian loves to rest for half a match and all, but with the storyline and psychology already set for Jericho to be selling his knee there is no excuse if Christian goes to the head instead of taking a knee submission if he wants a break. No excuse whatsoever.

Guest Deviant Report post Posted March 10, 2004 I'm expecting a great 20 minute affair with plenty of leg psychology in Jericho/Christian. And I too will be shocked if Eddy/Angle is not ****+. No matter what injuries are holding Kurt back, he'll go all out at Mania, even if it isn't in his own best interests. Besides, I'm expecting a fair amount of technical wrestling, which includes less bumping and therefore isn't as harmful to his neck. ****+ is easily possible.
