Who should take Lesnar's spot?

Recommended Posts

We've heard the news that Brock Lesnar is quitting WWE after Wrestlemania to pursue a potential career in the NFL.

This is the thread where you give your predictions and/or suggestions as to who will or should take Brock's spot as the #1 heel on Smackdown.

With the loss of Lesnar to Smackdown, I can totally foresee Edge NOT leaving SD now. They need some credibility and star power, and thus, I see Edge returning to Smackdown once more. But they were probably pushing Edge regardless. Just wanted to say that Edge will most likely be staying now.

That being said, I predict that A-Train will get a chance to become a major superstar on Smackdown now. Now I know that many people will be totally blown away by this, but seriously, who else are you going to push? You could push Team Angle by breaking them up, but you kill a Tag Division that can't afford to get killed anymore. Cena's currently playing face (the guy should be a fucking heel). Jamie Noble is a cruiserweight that will remain a cruiserweight regardless of how good he is. I can't see them giving Gunn a chance (although, I wouldn't be shocked if he did) since he's been so injury prone (and worse injury wise than Triple H). Thus, it leaves A-Train.

I can't realisticaly see anyone else than A-Train. I could also add Rhyno's been doing a whole lot of nothing, Tajiri's in Cruiser (should be called WWE's version of Hell), Mysterio will never be a heel, and frankly, I don't know of anyone else that really could at least be decently elevated like A-Train.

Do I want A-Train elevated to that spot? Hell no, but most likely, he'll be the top person to get the job.

Well one thing is for sure, they better forget about shipping Edge to RAW right f'n now or SmackDown will be even more full of Basham matches.

I guess they're not gonna let Kurt retire even if he wanted to, huh?

I think its been clearly established that Kurt's a nutbag who will do anything and everything even if the WWE doesn't ask him to.

I think Kurt has turned into the company's bitch personally. So I doubt he'd leave, since he's "WWE 4 LIFE".

Seriously though, I could see A-Train being elevated to the spot. He wasn't that bad, and besides the two other choices, Billy Gunn and Bob Holly, I'd rather have him. At least he can entertain me when the chance arises that he does do that.

I don't even bother suggesting Edge, because frankly, he'll probably end up on RAW regardless of if he does, it would make Smackdown like a second rate show that isn't anything to RAW. Hell, even if RVD was traded to SD, I doubt that you could make RVD a considerable heel that the fans wouldn't cheer for.

Big Show/Taker, Eddie/Someone, Kurt/Someone post Mania as the top feuds?

Realistically, they'll fall back on the guy that they fall back to at all times like this... Big Show. Hopefully, they will start to move up some other heels like the FBI and Rhyno so it doesn't feel like the heel focus of the entire show is leaving.

...wow. Simply wow. That's just awful if you think about. They'd have to push TWO people as main event calibre talent if they do have Eddie and Kurt move onto something else post-mania.

At least if Edge is staying we have Kurt vs. Edge (yet, again though, which makes me go ugh). If they somehow turn him heel will make it Edge vs. Eddie (and from what I remember of the ladder match from a long time ago, I'd be a mark for this set up). However, if Edge leaves, that means that two people would have to be elevated, and frankly I don't know who on the face side could be right now. I know A-Train will be for the heel side, but who on the face side would be elevated then?

I dunno... jam it all together to Kurt/Taker and Eddie/Show I guess. Christ knows what they'll do for a US title contender for Cena unless this throws Mania so off balance that they don't put him over Show just so they have some heel that's still a threat.

Actually, as Anglesault said, it most likely will be Show vs. Taker for awhile. Which means we will need two people elevated if Edge does not return to Smackdown.

This will be utterly suckville for Smackdown.

Kane could always move to Smackdown to "finish off" the Undertaker.

How sad is it that I'm actually down with that plan?

That's a possibility and reduces the need to push main eventers like mad. They'd still need to push someone to fill Lesnar's spot though.

I really am quite depressed because Smackdown is going to be utterly shitty without Brock. Let's face it. It is true because we will have a no selling Taker, Big Show being an off and on monster, one of the possible Trifecta (Holly, Gunn, A-Train) being pushed, and the only redeeming quality is that Guerrero will be the WWE Champion and Angle will be around to at least do something.

This is not looking good right now for wrestling.

Not as much as me hoping Edge stays and begging that Kane does move over to Smackdown. Kane's got a free pass to Smackdown anyways (via storyline).

Otherwise, we are in for a long haul of suck, suck, and more suck.

Man, the more I think about this, the more I realize Smackdown PPVs are gonna suck for a while.

And why all the haterizing on the A-Train. I think he's one of the better hosses out there. Is he still a HOSS~!? Yes, but a pretty good one.

Oddly enough, I wouldn't be surpsied if Vince & Co. scrambled to re-sign Goldberg with the $$ that Lesnar's leaving frees up.

I think it is time for the WWE to look to the future and that future is Shelton Benjamin. I know breaking up WGTT will kill the tag division but is neccesary to buid a new top heel. Bring Teddy Long over as his manager and have him feud with Cena for the US title. By Summerslam or Survivor Series, Benjamin will be ready to take the top heel spot and be WWE champion. In the mean time, have Chris Jericho win on Sunday and just when you think he and Trish are going to kiss, have him push her down and have him become full fledged heel again. He will then move back to Smackdown and become their #1 heel until Shelton Benjamin is ready.

I'll go with the obvious and say that they can't replace him.

Unless they have another monster running around who also happens to be in the top percent of workers...

*checks*

Nope.

Taker push to the moon.

We've already taken into account Taker, Big Show, Eddie, and Angle, bps.

We still need two others to jump up there. Because with Smackdown, they've usually got six main eventers running around that place. Right now, there's only four assured ones and two that slide up for two weeks then crash back down.

I'm just worried if they push Angle down to midcard because they are worried about is neck and figure that he's not worth it to have in the main event status. Now you drop down to three assured main eventers.

This is not looking good for Smackdown.

And I agree with unleashedthefury. The brand extention is looking awfully bad right about now.

How about this :

End the goddamn brand extension now

DING DING DING DING DING!!!

I've been preaching that for months. That idea isn't going to get play around these parts though. Smarks still think Vince is gonna push the cruisers seriously or something along those lines.

HHH: I-uh Know... I'll-uh pin Benoit on Sunday-uh... And he can go back to-uh Smackdown. They can have-uh the midget world title over there-uh. It works storyline wise-uh since we made it look-uh like-uh he was afraid-uh to face-uh Brock-uh anyway, by jumping to Raw-uh.

I'm not haterizing on A-Train at all. But I haven't exactly seen A-Train in a long time or at a point where I could consider him main event talent for even longer. To me he's borderline uppercard status at BEST right now.

You'd have to have a lot of build to push him to main eventer status, and right now the WWE will figure it doesn't have the time to build him up so they'll push him right down our throats and he'll get a title reign that'll do NOTHING MORE than be forced and utterly bad.

Taker wants someone fed to him. If they want to go back to Kurt/Eddie for Summerslam, they can't.

You'd have to break up the World's Greatest Tag Team and frankly, do you think the WWE can afford to break up a tag team when it's two tag team divisions are so broken down and worn out that they could survive with what few they have?

Yes, I know the SD side has a like 7 teams. Only 4 of them are well known and the WWE are willing to push at us. I doubt the other teams would even get a breaths worth of acknowledgement. Hell when was the last time we saw Kidman and London on SD since their first showing? Um... Never.
