The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2004 Joy Division released most of their albums after the death of their lead singer, but everything they released with vocals was recorded before Ian Curtis died, so I wouldn't say they got better, but they were certainly more well known after his death than before (at least in the United States). EDIT: There is a webpage called ElvisPelvis.com that contains the Dead Musician Directory...and has a very complete and accurate collection of news stories surrounding just about EVERY music-related death going back since the 50s it would seem. They recorded two albums, "Other Voices" and "Full Circle" with keyboard player Ray Manzarek and guitar player Robby Krieger handling the vocals. Both were pretty much commercial failures. Recently, however, Manzarek, Krieger, a new drummer (Densmore won't have any part of it) and the Cult's Ian Astbury have toured under the name "21st Century Doors" performing old material and one new song. The story is great if for no other reason then the wonderful irony of their singer's stage name...Dead. Then he fulfilled the prophecy by eating a shotgun. As tribute the band did no less than eat part of his brain in a stew (the guitarist was the first to find him, he too pictures, part of the brain, and skull chunks to be made into jewelry), and use pictures of his corpse as the cover of one of their cd's. The whole thing along with all the intrigue in the 'scene' at the time created a 'gimmick' that is depraved, and livable. Not to mention the band makes some of the most incredible music out there. Their guitarist got stabbed 23 times by a cohort in said 'scene' but that's for another thread.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

And despite only hearing Step Up and a few brief clips by Drowning Pool, I like the new guy's voice better than Dave's. As long as Jason can do the same thing live, I'm happy.
