Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted March 12, 2004 http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1126951,00.html A group claiming to be acting in the name of al Qaeda says it was behind yesterday's devastating Madrid train bombings, which killed at least 192 people and injured 1,200 others. An email to the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper said the Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri was responsible for the worst terrorist attack on a European city since the second world war. It also warned that a "big attack" on the US was "90% ready". ". "The death squad (of the Abu Hafs Al-Masri Brigades) succeeded in penetrating the crusader European depths and striking one of the pillars of the crusader alliance - Spain - with a painful blow," the email said. "We bring the good news to Muslims of the world that the expected 'Winds of Black Death' strike against America is now in its final stage...90 % (ready) and God willing near." Anyone think there is anything in this? Pretty scary stuff.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Obviously, it's scary, but we've also heard the same report about five times since September 11.
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted March 12, 2004 It could be a frame up of Al-Queda by the ETA. Terrorist groups aren't exactly known for high moral character.
Highland 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 The cynic in me is dismissing this as a campaign tactic to scare the American voters into re-electing Bush, since Republicans are seens to me more for national security than the Democrats are.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 12, 2004 (edited) The cynic in me is dismissing this as a campaign tactic to scare the American voters into re-electing Bush, since Republicans are seens to me more for national security than the Democrats are. You're saying George Bush bombed Madrid, wrote an e-mail to a British newspaper pretending to be a terrorist, took credit for the bombings and then made a threat against America to help his chances of re-election? Damn, I didn't think the situation was that desperate for Bush. Edited March 12, 2004 by Anglesault
Highland 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I was being sarcastic, but I was refering more to the colour bars used for terror alerts, and frankly I'm surprised it hasn't been changed to red just in time for the election, for the reasons I stated in my previous post. It really wouldn't matter, the color bars have more to do with the DHS and the rest of the beauracracy than the populace who don't give a shit one way or the other. Why would George W. Hitler raise the bar to red in order to scare minorities from coming out to the polls when he's got Jeb's police force and attack dogs to do the job?... Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'm 90% sure that "The Winds of Black Death" is the coolest name for a terrorist group ever. Oh, and good luck with that whole attack thing. Reports like this have been surfacing for a while now, don't put too much stock into it.
