The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Yeah, I loved Rock pandering to the MSG crowd before the match and the fans just SHAT on him ala Shawn in 1996. I liked how the crowd was behind Shawn at first tonight but after he tried his Germans...MSG turned on his ass in a fucking instant. Aside from HHH tapping...that was my highlight of the night. HBK attempts German: Crowd "BOOOOOOOOOO" Benoit reverses and attempts German: Crowd "YEAHHHHHHHHH"
Guest Ray Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 he was pushed to Fast No, he was not. Will you people ever drop that shit?
Papacita Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I'm looking at the end of GB/Brock on the WM replay... I wondering whether or not Austin would've stunned Goldberg if the fans had cheered him and now booed him...and if so, how the hell would they have explained that? The accidental spear from a while back?
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 he was pushed to Fast No, he was not. Will you people ever drop that shit? Now that he grabbed his gym bag and headed out because he is tired Playing a wrestler YES we will drop the fact that he was pushed and recieved the World title in under a year, where as a Chris benoit it takes 4 years.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 The smarkishness of the crowd tonight put a big smile on my face. It was definitely a "I can't believe this is happening" moment. And this is the same crowd who popped for Taker
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 ...and it's not the actual title.

And this is the same crowd who popped for Taker well they really only popped for UT's entrance, but once they saw the monstrosity that ensued they shut up very quick. Not another pop until the finish.
Guest Choken One Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 There is a Mark in every Smark. Undertaker was their release...then they were allowed to be bitter and Jaded again until It was confirmed that HHH jobbed clean.

"playing a wrestler" ? God, that was pathetic. Stop whining about Brock getting a title before Benoit. Apparently you're unaware of a concept called "making a new star."

Yeah....pushing new stars who don't care about the business and BAD MOUTHED IT IN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED A FEW YEARS BEFORE BECOMING A HYPOCRITE.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 And this is the same crowd who popped for Taker And generally ignored his match... People can like different things, I don't really care, but the fact that a significant portion of that crowd is online -I think- is smile worthy; especially when it's downplayed so often.

Undertaker was their release...then they were allowed to be bitter and Jaded again until It was confirmed that HHH jobbed clean. Now I believe that theory would be as sound if Hogan came Hobbling down the Ramp and Posed to Real American at WM 20.... Not have a match.... Not do a interview...not do anything Remotely Useful... Just pose his decript ancient Overly tanned like Leather carcass.... And they would Pop.. Why? because its WM 20 and the fans would think to themselves Hogan deserves some time there even if its useless they would be Happy to see him.
Guest Ray Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Yeah....pushing new stars who don't care about the business and BAD MOUTHED IT IN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED A FEW YEARS BEFORE BECOMING A HYPOCRITE. Oh god.

Dangerous K89 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 For what it is worth, Angle didn't get the Goldberg push or anything. His undefeated streak was ended not too long after it started. It was during his European title days by Tazz.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Hey Rudo, I wonder... are you happy about Benoit winning? Or do you still feel like the storyline is ruined? I personally think they can salvage it by having Benoit go over Michaels in Canada.
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 and Kurt spent a good portion of time Working up the ranks with the secondary titles IC and Euro title.
Jobber of the Week Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Brock, however, is just a punk bitch who was handed everything on a silver platter early in his career and he played the role of spoiled brat very nicely which led up to his quitting. Fuck Him. Would you rather he be jobbed out to The Undertaker, again? If nobody stands up to the even-steven booking or the younger talent jobbing to older talents, Vince will never "get it," and someone like Spanky isn't going to do it. Someone has to leave a hole in Vince's lineup for him to understand.
Guest Choken One Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 and he got over insanely with a good storyline that was the PEAK of WWE's creative and Finacial success...Brock squashed the Hardys and RVD en route to beating Rock 4 months into his debut...Not as Bad as Yoko's SHOVE into the Main event but almost. Angle was Insanely over by the time he won the title a year later...Brock didn't get over as a heel until No Mercy and then they turned him...
bobobrazil1984 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Its also worth noting though that Lesner's departure had leaked to major papers and/or news outlets and such... outlets read/seen by millions of people.
AndrewTS Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Its also worth noting though that Lesner's departure had leaked to major papers and/or news outlets and such... outlets read/seen by millions of people. Yeah, and lots of marks read newpapers and watch the news all the time, right? Get real.
Guest Choken One Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 That's a point I wanted to make, It was mentioned in the Local Paper in NYC I believe and Foxsports reported it as well as other news outlets...So don't come up with this assumption that all 17000 there were Smart Marks. It's pretty easy how word spreads around.
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Hey Rudo, I wonder... are you happy about Benoit winning? Or do you still feel like the storyline is ruined? I personally think they can salvage it by having Benoit go over Michaels in Canada. As a match alone, I was happy with the way Benoit was presented and how he won. I am not happy about him winning though. I would have been angry had he lost, and I was angry when he was moved to RAW and taken away from his feud with Lesnar and the WWE title, but him winning has me apathetic; just like his RR win. There's really nothing here for me to cheer. I don't find the novelty of "Benoit winning the world title at Mania" appealing, mainly because Benoit is not a WM type of guy and his quest hasnt been for the world title. I don't like the storyline and the feud and how they have made Benoit look in the eyes of the fans. I don't think he can really have the strong, meaningful title run he could have had on Smackdown and I can't imagine this one being very successful given the way they have treated him thus far.
Lil' Bitch Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I didn't like Brock getting the title in record time, but Brock / Rock made up for it, IMO.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 What I didn't like was that Brock couldn't buy a reaction until the day he won the title (except for some scattered occassional Goldberg chants)...and that was face heat he got against the Rock. It all worked out in the long run...because Brock had that whole...world class athlete thing to fall back on. Orton's gonna have a rougher time with a similar, but not as hard of a push, problem
Guest Choken One Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 A *** match doesn't make up for 4 months of Insane Monster Pushing for no reason... Why vince felt Brock needed the title RIGHT away was neccesary, I'll never know...I would have built Brock up more before Sacrificing the rock to him(which didn't really work)...
bobobrazil1984 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Yeah, and lots of marks read newpapers and watch the news all the time, right? Get real. Uh... yes, casual fans read the newspapers or watch the news. Not all the time, but since these reports were LOCAL REPORTS (and there's usually MAJOR hype in the local area for events like Wrestlemania, from local news reports, you know the ones that come on at like 10pm or whatever right after E.R. or something, for instance) from new york... yeah I'd say that's a major reason why so many people knew about Lesner's departure... rather than all of them being dirtsheet readers. (edit: and like choken one mentioned, FOX sports also...)
Jobber of the Week Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 A *** match doesn't make up for 4 months of Insane Monster Pushing for no reason... The monster push was kind of running on the same idea that followed HHH's push. If you tell the audience enough times that a guy is a future main eventer, he will be. I was at a show from the era where Brock couldn't buy a reaction. I think pairing him up with Paul was a bit of a mistake. Not that Paul couldn't talk, but most the audiences don't remember Paul E Dangerously and his cell phone, and see the guy as a former ECW owner and why's he hanging around with this beefy dude? I think Rock/Brock kind of had that unique "Oh shit" feel to it with a guy who's a crowd favorite with a guy made to look unstoppable. Because that was the show Rock came back and did his "Austin can take his ball and go home" promo, and as soon as the cameras went off the air and Lesnar's music hit and interrupted Rock's, he got a hell of a lot more reaction than he did facing Booker T just before that.

The monster push was kind of running on the same idea that followed HHH's push. If you tell the audience enough times that a guy is a future main eventer, he will be. at least HHH had been with the company for 4 years before that and was a MUCH more beliveable heel champion then Brock "I just showed up and won this belt without doing anything other then beating a tag team and an 52 year old man" Lesnar.
