Downhome Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 My God, I just loved every bit of that SD.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I marked out for the ending. Who else wants to see Cheating Eddy fight the Unkillable Beast Taker?
HarleyQuinn Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Damn, the crowd heat was just insane for Undertaker though. The look actually isn't that bad, kind of growing on me. Nasty tombstone though, yikes
Papacita Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 That was a great show, and the ending was pretty cool. Weird seeing Taker's old school entrance with the new set and everything.
The Mandarin Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 mysterio weighs what 200? (that's being generous)...So It would take 2 and 1/2 to equal TBS I think... Pretty sure he's in the 170s. Damn, the ending to SmackDown ruled. Rey/Eddie was pretty damn good, and The Undertaker showing up was amazing. Very, very good show. Great way to cap off going into the lottery. This whole week of WWE TV (WM on) has ruled.
AndrewTS Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I marked out for the ending. Who else wants to see Cheating Eddy fight the Unkillable Beast Taker? Not me. Besides, isn't Taker, you know, a face?
Styles Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Damn, the crowd heat was just insane for Undertaker though. The look actually isn't that bad, kind of growing on me. Nasty tombstone though, yikes I agree, it makes it seem as if he's been possesed again instead of changing his clothes and wearing makeup. It's actually much more creepy in a way that he's dressed like bikerTaker yet acts like the old Undertaker...
Guest Choken One Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 those who were saying Eddy/Mysterio was MOTY and better then the Triple Threat are insane. It was ***3/4.
Nighthawk Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Taker is fine as long as his hair isn't the Beatle-esque mop it was at Wrestlemania. So that bandanna was a welcome addition.
Silence Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Good Eddie/Mysterio match, but Rey seemed a little sloppy tonight, though I guess he was just selling the arm when he went for the springboard backflip DDT.
Downhome Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 those who were saying Eddy/Mysterio was MOTY and better then the Triple Threat are insane. It was ***3/4. While not a MOTY, it was still DAMN good for a free TV match. This year in WWE has been fantastic, with a HUGE "smarks favorite" moment happening in each month so far. Benoit winning the RR, Eddie winning the WWE Title, and then Benoit winning the World Championship. All the while we've been getting consistantly good wrestling, and various other interesting feuds, segments, and other mark out moments. If you haven't found something that you like in 2004, then you need to just stop watching. I can't remember the last time we had a year quite like this one.
DerangedHermit Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I don't know, I actually liked the new Undertaker look. It's more believable than Ministry or the old school Taker. I love the hat the most, but Bearer should be w/o the makeup (like when he was with Kane). Don't jump on UT just yet (so far it's just Kane and Heyman). Now once he goes over Benoit, Cena, Guerrero, maybe even Big Show or Batista, you can start bitching. I'd actually like to see some sort of interaction with Batista and UT.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I marked out for the ending. Who else wants to see Cheating Eddy fight the Unkillable Beast Taker? Why, exactly? A Cowboy Zombie isn't exactly the best character to play the cheating off of.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 . I'd actually like to see some sort of interaction with Batista and UT. Why? Batista would kill Taker. And by that I mean I think a Botchtista Bomb would literally kill Undertaker.
The Mandarin Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Holy shit, Scott Keith gave Eddie/Rey ****1/4, yet said the show "sucked". I disagree with both.

Guest Anglesault Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 (edited) But he won't really react to the cheating. Even your basic straight man's reactions are what makes the whole deal. Edited March 19, 2004 by Anglesault

I disagree with both. yet said Raw was good since it didn't have much purpose... Idiot. A ***3/4 match and solid entertainment all the way through does not suck... stop sucking Benoit nut sack, keith
AndrewTS Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Holy shit, Scott Keith gave Eddie/Rey ****1/4, yet said the show "sucked". I disagree with both. At the risk of making another thread bickering over star ratings--Keith is a moron.
Guest Anglesault Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I agree with him, but it's not really a fault of the wrestlers. Gauntlet shows tend to suck.
geniusMoment Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Smackdown was okay, but I hate WWE style. Rey/Eddie from Halloween Havoc in WCW featured all types of awesome highspots which the WWE will not let their wrestlers do, in fear of actually entertaining the fans. The crowd was chanting boring during the Haas/Benjamin match, the Benjamin/Gunn match and during the Benjamin/Mysterio match. As well as chanting boring during the tag title match, WWE style gotta love it.
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 My God, I just loved every bit of that SD. Even APA vs. Rikishi/S2H? Everything from Gauntlet start to the end of the show was fantastic. SD smoked Raw this week.
Coffin Surfer Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 "Smackdown was okay, but I hate WWE style. Rey/Eddie from Halloween Havoc in WCW featured all types of awesome highspots which the WWE will not let their wrestlers do, in fear of actually entertaining the fans." You also have to remember that it isn't 97 for either man with injuries, weight gain..etc. They still used alot of high spots(nothing as wild as Havoc though), it's just the match as a whole wasn't as fluid and quick. I thought the match was decent, and it's heart was in the right place. I enjoyed watching Rey come up with different escapes for Eddy's arm holds, rather smart wrestling. Still the timing and structure of the match felt kind of off, I wish I could elaborate but I didn't record the match or anything, and I have to go by memory. Rey's selling of the arm also left something to be desired, I don't mind him using it or anything, but he just didn't seem to be able to make the arm work seem as threatening it should have if since it was going to somewhat direclty play into the finish. The La Magistral Cradle was a good finish though.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 ***1/2 for Eddy/Mysterio. ****1/4 is over-rating it a bit. Whats with the hate for the gauntlet? Benjamin carried Gunn to a decent match, maybe Gunns best match since....forever.
AndrewTS Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 ***1/2 for Eddy/Mysterio. ****1/4 is over-rating it a bit. Whats with the hate for the gauntlet? Benjamin carried Gunn to a decent match, maybe Gunns best match since....forever. The Haas/Benjamin mat sequences were admittedly slow and didn't really go anywhere. It seemed more like they were doing a worked-shoot am wrestling exhibition to try to match some of Angle's stuff, but weren't able to as effectively spice it up for a pro wrestling audience like Kurt or Brock can do. The Gunn match was pretty inoffensive to me, Rey vs. Shelton was good, vs. Show was...typical Show match. Nothing terribly bad but nothing extremely good. It was fun to watch for me, at least. I'd say the Eddy/Rey stuff would probably seem a lot better if we didn't know what they were capable of before, though.
Guest TheHulkster Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I loved the whole SD show for the first time in a long time. While not great top to bottom from a wrestling standpoint (although there was a really good main event and a few other decent matches), it was probably the first Smackdown of the year that was good from a Television standpoint. Most Smackdowns are filled with matches that have no purpose whatsoever, while Raw's wrestling isn't as polished, the pace of the show and the scripting is leagues ahead of SD. Now some fans might not put a whole lot of importance behind that, it really effects a show. I hope the trend continues and the WWE Draft version 2 produces better shows. Is it me or has Cena officially become the new Road Dogg Jesse James? I used to think he was an interesting character.
