Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 just trust me. This may be the best show of all time. The're having wildlife experts build a robot shark and a robot crocodile to fight each other. So awesome.
DerangedHermit Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 DAMMIT, why didn't you tell me sooner?
Vyce Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 just trust me. This may be the best show of all time. The're having wildlife experts build a robot shark and a robot crocodile to fight each other. So awesome. FINALLY. We'll have an answer to the most important question ever posed by mankind: who would win in a fight, a shark or a croc? And NOW we will know, through the use of modern 21st century technology. The shark's going to win of course. I pity all of you who think otherwise. Oh, how I pity you.
Rob E Dangerously Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Oh yeah.. 12am CST/1am EST.. Robotic Elephant v. Robotic Rhino 20 on the Rhino
Ted the Poster Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Wait... is this why Adult Swim is doing their "Flying Shark vs. Flying Crocodile" thing this week?
Guest JMA Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Wait... is this why Adult Swim is doing their "Flying Shark vs. Flying Crocodile" thing this week? The Discovery Channel ripped them off. True story.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 I wonder what the Australian Discovery Channel programming format is compared to that of the USA? I'll check my guide, anyway.
Guest JMA Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Regardless of the fact that the Discovery Channel STOLE the idea from Adult Swim, I still enjoyed the show.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Smell the ratings!!!, I thought that your Username just had to tie in with this thread somehow...
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 for the record, the Shark won. I though they were going to actually let the robots go apeshit on each other. It was still cool though.
Rob E Dangerously Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 me: this fight better not end with a run-in by a manatee me: or the NWO friend: Ha! The latter would be classic friend: With Hall hitting the shark with The Outsider's Edge me: "They're spraypainting NWO on the croc.. fortunately, spraypaint doesn't work that well underwater"

imajackoff? Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 This whole idea was taken from a morning radio show in DC. They've been doing the croc v. shark debate for about 2yrs. Discovery channel is based out of DC.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I saw this hyped. I knew the shark would win. Crocs just grip their prey and drown them. Pretty hard to drown a shark...
SamoaRowe Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 just trust me. This may be the best show of all time. The're having wildlife experts build a robot shark and a robot crocodile to fight each other. So awesome. I saw an advertisement for this the other day... and it looks pretty cool. This doesn't change the fact that my attention span doesn't let me watch much tv.
nl5xsk1 Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I tried to watch this on Sunday, when it originally aired ... it's actually pretty boring. A bunch of scientists-types create a robo-animal and have it bite through shit (like a melon or a coconut) to show how strong it's bite it. But for the actual fight, they just use CGI to create a mock battle. Secret: you should just watch the last 10 minutes to see the 'fight' and skip the boring scientist babble.
Guest Goodear Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Man they should just have the Robots go at it in a battle of craftmanship, design, and such. It's always more fun to see actual stuff fight it out than to have computer mockups. Plus the Rhino machine would have kicked the crap out of the Elephant bulldozer. That's where the money is Discovery Channel.
