Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Just for mentioning the movie should earn me a few swift kicks in the face, but there's something bugging me about the movie. I remember watching the TNT broadcast a few times everal years back, and the end is of course ramming a broken...whatever part of the ship through the shark. I recently bought the DVD release...and the ending is completely fucked up. It's not even close to the same, and the black guy LIVES! Either they filmed two seperate endings (which I doubt, because clips of the end seemed to be focused more to one side then a center shot where the shark is bleeding everywhere) or ....hell, I can't think of anything.
NoCalMike Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 was it Jaws 2 or 3 that ended with those teens on the little island/rocks and Jaws jumped up and bit into some random electric pole and was electrocuted to death?
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 was it Jaws 2 or 3 that ended with those teens on the little island/rocks and Jaws jumped up and bit into some random electric pole and was electrocuted to death? That was Jaws 2. Jaws 3(D) I think had some guy eaten holding a grenade, and some other guy pulls it before he's swallowed. People get paid to think of this crap.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 I've never had the guts to view any Jaws films but the original.
Anya Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Yeah, there's two endings. I believe the TV version is the original.
DMann2003 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Yes it sucks, Oh, THAT wasn't your question?
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 was it Jaws 2 or 3 that ended with those teens on the little island/rocks and Jaws jumped up and bit into some random electric pole and was electrocuted to death? Jaws 2 has Brody holding the cable in front of him and when the shark goes to attack him he bites the cable. Maybe you are thinking of the Ride, where Jaws does bite some random cable during the final attack and fries.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Jaws 2 = Gets zapped Jaws 3 = Goes boom Jaws 4 = AHHHHHHHH It was funny, but for the longest time I had this argument with my friend over the black guy dying. I saw this piece of crap in the theaters ('F' you all, I was a kid at the time!) and saw that guy die. My friend saw this on TV and said the guy doesn't die. Then, years later, I saw the alternate ending. L-A-M-E. Did Jesse Jackson threaten to sue TNT or something?...
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Yes, isn't it funny that the damn shark keeps on comin' back, even after being killed in the PREVIOUS FUCKING MOVIE?
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 My guess is that they were one big shark-family. What I thought was funnier was that in Jaws: The Revenge... SPOILER ALERT BECAUSE I KNOW THOSE THAT HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE YET BUT WANT TO DON'T WANT THEIR VIEWING EXPERIENCE RUINED BY MY BIG MOUTH. The shark swims down the Eastern Seaboard and finds out where Ms. Brody is taking a vacation...
Ripper Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 So...basically you are upset because the black guy lived, huh? you ~RACIST!
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Jaws 4 has SO MANY PLOT LOOPHOLES. a.) Sharks don't hold grudges/take things personal. See Jaws 2. b.) Ellen Brody sees things in flashback mode from Jaws 1 and earlier in 4 that she didn't even witness. c.) Sharks can't travel from where ever the hell they were (I'd see northeast) and travel down to the bahamas....and know where and when she goes. d.) The movie just plain sucked. How did MICHAEL CAINE ever agree to do this movie? The guys a great actor...and does this film.

I am ashamed to say I also liked JAws The Revenge when I was younger...but God looking at it now makes me want to fork my eyes out and watch Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (B.S)
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 So...basically you are upset because the black guy lived, huh? you ~RACIST! Sadly, as much as I like seeing blacks die in movies (I'm working on my fourth DVD of "Glory;" I wear it out so much), I actually liked that guy. I was more upset that I was proven wrong (which rarely, if ever, happens, especially at TSM). Oh, and didn't Caine skip some major awards show where he won in whatever he was nominated for to make Jaws IV?...

Oh, and didn't Caine skip some major awards show where he won in whatever he was nominated for to make Jaws IV?... Yes, he won an award (Emmy probably) for Best Actor but decided to not appear because of filming Jaws 4 in the Bahamas. I bet he was kicking himself in the ass for that. And I was sad the black guy died....but was mad (and happy) that he DIDN'T because I saw the theatrical version first.
Nighthawk Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Yes, he won an award (Emmy probably) for Best Actor but decided to not appear because of filming Jaws 4 in the Bahamas. I bet he was kicking himself in the ass for that. Hey, it was the Bahamas. I'd rather be doing almost anything in the Bahamas than going to an awards show, even if I won.
DMann2003 Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 It was the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Hannah and Her Sisters that Caine skipped out on to make Jaws IV
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Well I was completely wrong on both parts. Eh. I'll punish myself by watching The Cable Guy (cries)
Edwin MacPhisto Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 After all these years, I still remember that the black guy's name was Jake and that Michael Caine played a character named Hoagie. The best part about Black Jake dying? He basically just falls in the shark's mouth. It's gold.

The best part about Black Jake dying? He basically just falls in the shark's mouth. It's gold. The other best part: The Shark LITERALLY stands up on its tail in that scene...for what seemed like forever. And who had the bright idea to name a character HOAGIE?! I'm not the only one who thinks of a sandwich when I hear that name.

The other best part: The Shark LITERALLY stands up on its tail in that scene...for what seemed like forever. The other best part: Jaws Jr. roared, too... Another Best Part: When Michael Caine swims away from the plane where the shark is attacking, he goes to the boat and when hes on it 1 minute later, he is all dry.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 The other best part: Doesn't the shark explode or something despite getting SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS impaled?...

Yup. In the DVD version I have he does. All they do is splice in footage from the first Jaws and cut away from the shark bleeding all over the place.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 And lets not forget that riveting underwater-boat chase scene. Scary stuff...
Nighthawk Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Well I was completely wrong on both parts. Eh. I'll punish myself by watching The Cable Guy (cries) The fuck's wrong with you? Cable Guy is genius.

Nighthawk Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Maybe if you're a Jim Carrey fan. It was completely out of character for him (in other words, good). It has a particular style, I won't fault you if you don't get into that style, but worse than Cat in the Hat? That's just low.

I was slightly kidding, although the movie is bad, but if it's on, I'll watch it without a second thought. And The Cat In The Hat wins Worst Movie Ever. And lets not forget that riveting underwater-boat chase scene. Scary stuff... For a shark than can travel the ENTIRE Eastern coast to the bahamas in less than one day, it sure as hell can't catch the Brody Boy inside of a sunken ship. A SUNKEN SHIP!!! What is this?! Super Mario World?!
