Daredevil Director's Cut DVD delayed

Daredevil Director's Cut DVD

According to DVDAnswers.com, the Daredevil Director’s Cut DVD, which was originally scheduled to be released next month, has been delayed until next year.

Personally, I’m a bit disappointed by this. I’m one of the few people who actually liked Daredevil, and I thought the theatrical version of DD seemed a bit short. My guess is that they're going to release the Director's Cut around the time that Elektra hits theaters.

Spider-Man DVDs

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is set to release two new Spider-Man DVDs on June 1st, a Superbit edition and a two-disc Deluxe Edition (source: Superherohype.com).

From what I could tell, the DE looks like a re-release of the current 2-disc Special Edition. The only difference (besides the box art) seems to be that the video game stuff on DVD-ROM has been replaced with fluff for the sequel. Unless they announce some new extras, I won’t be picking up the DE.

Isn't the current Spider-Man release a great DVD, enough to be called "ultimate"? Either way, I'm glad I haven't picked it up yet.

As for Daredevil, I hate to hear that also. I traded my copy of the current release of the film a few weeks ago, and I did so only because I thought the new release was coming out soon.

Oh well.

DD: That's a big ass delay.

SP: They've got pretty big balls to release the same dvd with different box art and sequel crap in place of video game crap. I won't be buying that. I've already got the super deluxe box set anyway (same dvd though) cause I saw it for $20.

Maybe they're trying to find the othr 5 people who liked it before they release it.

Man was that film terrible.

I enjoyed both Daredevil and Spider-Man quite a bit... but at the same time I can easily see how other people wouldn't like either movie.

Marvel is on a roll though.

Update on the Spider-Man Deluxe Edition DVD:

The Deluxe Edition will be a three-disc set. The DE will include the current 2-disc Special Edition and a third disc that will come in a separate case. The DE will also include a free movie ticket for Spider-Man 2.

List of extras on the third disc:

-Spider Wrangler Featurette

-Wrestling Match Featurette

-World Unity Festival Featurette

-Oscorp Lab Featurette

-Goblin's Arsenal Featurette

-Costume Design Featurette

-Exclusive Sneak Peak at Spider-Man 2

-Spider-Man 2 Teaser Trailer

-Activision Spider-Man 2 Game Trailer

The third disc doesn't really do anything for me. Personally, I don't think it's worth double-dipping for a third disc, a slipcase, and a movie ticket.

Also, some info on the Superbit version:

-new anamorphic widescreen transfer

-English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 sound

-exclusive commentary track with Tobey Maguire

If it fleshes out some stuff, I might go for the Daredevil discs, and if I hear the extras are good enough I'll get Spidey as well.

Even though this third disc is a step-up from the previous edition which was just a bunch of fluff pieces, I don't think it's worth the double dip.

5 people that admit in public to liking Daredevil. That's a crime punishable by electrocution to the groin in some countries.
