MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 'Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue' (PS2) Theres a whole description but who cares, its a Barbie Game. 'Monster Garage: The Game' (PC) Straight from the bad-idea file comes "Monster Garage." If you watch any amount of television, your chances of avoiding Jesse James, the gearhead behind the show, aren't good. The game takes challenges from the show and asks you to complete them. That gameplay means you transform vehicles into crazy contraptions. As popular as the show is, this game isn't going to make any new fans. You begin by buying parts. Everyone knows how men love to shop. Once you have the parts, you can enlist the services of all-star wrench monkeys to do some of the dirty work. But it turns out you have to do most of the work yourself. Who needs Ninja Gaiden when you can unscrew bolts in this game? Things get really interesting when you're asked to remove body panels. And the excitement becomes uncontrollable when you get to weld! You know we're kidding, right? Sorry "Monster Garage," the only people who might be interested in this game work on real cars. 'Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing' (PC) This is hands-down, the worst videogame to ever see the light of day. Really. It's supposed to be a racing game, but you don't really race anyone. Your competitor appears at the starting gate, but he's not going anywhere. He just stays put. Talk about an easy win. Objects in the way? No worries. You can drive right through them. And don't bother crossing a bridge. You'll fall right through it. Fun! Tired of following the beaten path? Why not leave the game world altogether? You can drive off -- not into the blazing sunset -- but into a blank, white space. Good thing you can get back. The box says to get ready for CB talkin', convoy rollin', action. But there's no CB, or any sound for that matter. And the last time we checked, one rig does not equal a convoy. ---- I'll add: Any Mary Kate/Ashley game. Its ashame theres like 20 of them on the Gamecube. BTW.. I've got a $15 off $15 or more code to the EA Store at EA.com. If someone wants it, first person to PM me gets it, no strings attatched. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Well, I'll put it this way. I dont see myself, a soon to be 22 year old male, renting or purchasing their games. They might be fine for the 13-17 year old girl gamecube audience though, although honestly how big of an audience is that?
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Pfft. If Monster Garage is anywhere near as good as Gearhead Garage, it's a must play.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Pfft. If Monster Garage is anywhere near as good as Gearhead Garage, it's a must play. GG didn't look as cool as The Monster Garage game (my roomate in college had the gearhead garage game). But honestly how much fun can waving your mouse over the lugnuts on a tire and they magically disappear be?

Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Agreed. Mary Kate & Ashley have a gigantic fan base who would probably buy the damn system just to play the game. UYI

GG didn't look as cool as The Monster Garage game (my roomate in college had the gearhead garage game). But honestly how much fun can waving your mouse over the lugnuts on a tire and they magically disappear be? I think you mixed up the games typing, Marv. Anyway, I could see it as a game a pre-teen gearhead might like, so he(/she?) doesn't really screw up a real car.. As long as it does what it does properly (and not "let's put sealer in this broken radiator") it's less of a bad game and just a bad idea. It still looks like barrels of fun compared to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, at least. Big Rigs looks absolutely terrible. Although admittedly it would be amusing to play a game with no collision detection for a few minutes.
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 These games like Barbie and the Olsen Twins must sell because there's so many of them. There has to be a market. I think people underestimate the female demographic.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 I probably do, but "the female demographic" doesn't automatically = liking games that suck. I'd lean more towards thinking those games are played on their little/big brother's consoles, because that's a 100 bucks for a console and 50 or so for a game that could be spent on stuff that's practical and useful. Girls in their early teens generally don't have that much disposable income. Although, yeah, SOME ONE must be buying them. I guess these young female gamers need to fall pray to shitty licensed games for a while before they learn. Hey, Acclaim--there's a market for you to sink your vampiric fangs into after your top execs renew their pact with Satan. I'm pretty sure some of these girls looooove Final Fantasy. Anya 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Of course the female demographic doesn't automatically mean liking games that suck. I don't think boys have any bigger income than girls, but it really doesn't matter who's system they're playing as long as they're buying the games. Acclaim already has stake in the market....they're the ones publishing the Olsen game If the girls like FF then that's good for them. That just proves the female demo likes good games, even with a little Mary-Kate and Ashley love. I actually have played the Mall one for PSX.
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 The Olsen Twins sell. My cousins have a PS2 and out of their awe-inspiring 5 game library, 3 of their games have the Olsen Twins license. I believe the other two are Grand Theft Auto. How's that for contrast?

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2004 Of course they do. But girls are typically more spoiled than boys are. I could be wrong, but generally girls are more into the "designer clothes" thing, right? I don't understand that.
