smh810 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 smh: You're a whining loser who's making up for his team's poor play by saying that Calgary's hard-hitting style is "dirty". Considering what I've seen from Tampa fans so far, you fit right in. As for the Nieminen suspension, it's horseshit. That was 2 minutes for boarding, NOT 5 and a game. Lecavalier faked an injury until he got what he wanted, and then skated off unaided. Of course, Nemo's actions are totally awful, whereas the Stillman/Roy elbows on Nilson and Nemo are totally fine. It's fine when Tampa does it, right, NHL? Right, because you want the Americans to win again. It's all about star power and money, which is why the Flames have been royally fucked over by the refs and the league for the entire playoff run. OHHHH!!!! I didn't know laying on the ice and recieving 10 stiches ON THE BENCH was faking an injury. Oh and if you read earlier I said that Stillman's hit was a dirty play(reading comprehension is important, learn it sometime). And the Flames have been royally fucked, give me a fucking break! You have gotten away with murder the whole post-season where we have had fewer PP than our opponents in most of our games. You clutch, grab, crosscheck from behind, slash, drive heads into boards, slewfoot among other things but thats old school hockey right?

It's just him being a Calgary homer. But, statistically, you're wrong when you say that the Lightning have had fewer PP opportunities ... I was actually reading the stats page on nhl.com before coming to TSM, and the Lightning have had like 20-something more PP chances than penalties called against them. (The Flames had like 9 or 10 more against than for.)

I know I probably shouldn't have replied to that but this series (as if you couldn't tell) really has my blood boiling. Notice I didn't even touch Daryl Sutter's comments and I won't cause I really don't feel like cutting another promo and a half.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 I think my new favorite pastime is reading Calgary fans bitch about the Lightning and Tampa fans bitch about the Flames. It's like they're watching two different series or something. Just a whole lot of fun to read. Me & redbaron had our moments during the MTL-Boston series, but I don't remember it ever getting this comical. I agree. And I'll admit that I went a bit overboard on some thing during that series. And let me state this again. CALGARY HAD 57 MINUTES TO TIE THE GAME. Kerry Fraser made the right call on the holding, and the wrong call on the roughing part, especially that call. (He's known to take control way to early in the game)
smh810 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 WOWIE WOW! WOW! WOW! After getting our asses completely kicked in the 1st period we tie the game with 33 seconds left. We'll see what happens in the 2nd period. By the way Khabby is GOD!

smh810 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 You assist on the goal? Touche Max. Anyway the Bolts are FINALLY picking up their play. And once again Khabby has been incredible.
smh810 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 All that complaining that I did after Game 4 is irrelevant right now. We don't deserve to win this game. Yeah, Iginla's goal was off an absolutely perfect shot but for Christ sakes except for a 4:00 spurt in the second period we have sucked donkeyass all night. It should be 6-1 right now. We need to step up in the 3rd period bigtime.
Dogbert 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Nah, I think Tampa Bay has played a darned good game. Calgary's just turned it up a few notches, is all. Tampa would win a lot of games playing the way they have.
packwingfn 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Quick goal by Tampa in the 3rd. 2-2 Now will there finally be a lead change in this series?

LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 What the...why aren't Dogbert and smh fighting? Booo. Anyways, excellent 3rd period, great action. Nice to see the refs just get out of the way. Here's hoping no one does anything stupid in OT...hate to see it end on a PP.

smh810 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 I can't hate on Calgary tonight, both teams busted their ass in overtime and the better team (for tonight) won. I'm just hoping for a Game 7 at this point.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Excellent OT, great chances by both sides. And no way anyone can blame this on the refs. Really feel for Tampa though...Lecavalier was playing like a madman, I thought he was going to get the winner for sure. Game Six is going to be great. tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Now THAT is what you call a great hockey game! So The Flames only need one more win to get the cup huh? This pleases me.
smh810 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 BREAKING NEWS: TORTORELLA JUST GUARANTEED VICTORY IN GAME 6! When replying to a question, do you think you will be back here on Monday night? Torts: Yes, we will! I'm not sure if thats a good idea or not.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 4, 2004 It's not a gurantee unless he goes "I gurantee it"... No fucking player will go "no...We won't...We will fold under the pressure at game six...I'll be in the basement playing Pool with the boys on monday". You either say "Yes we will" or "We won't give up"...
smh810 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Well, what else is he going to say if you put him on the spot like that? Fair point, but there have been other times when he's been put on the spot like that (granted with different questions) and he's told the media to basically go "F" themselves and I think he could have done that in this situation. KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Not really relevant to the series and all, but can I just point out that the Tampa Bay PBP radio guy is an embarrasment to the profession? WEEI (the Boston sports radio station) plays his calls every day after games, and it's just laughable that he still has a job. I mean, really, Joey Styles' voice didn't even jump as many octaves as this guy's does after goals. That crap might fly if you were a college broadcaster, but he's supposed to be a professional, have at least SOME composure.

I'm sorry but if I'm listening to a home team announcer I WANT him to be biased and WANT him to get excited for goals. Also, what you don't hear is the way he describes a game while the action is going on. He's as good as any national announcer at that.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 So it's Game 6 in Calgary on a Saturday night? Ah, it's times like this I want to catch a flight to Calgary and enjoy this game the way it was meant to, but alas, 'tis hard for a simple midwesterner like myself. Drive to Windsor, maybe? KK Rage 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. That's about all I can say. The Flames did totally deserve that win though. I'm about as big a Lightning fan as anyone, but I have to say something that's been bugging the hell out of me lately... Where the hell has Dave Andreychuk been in this series? If I was in his shoes and hadn't touched the Stanley Cup in 22 YEARS, I think my 42 year old legs might just be able to churn a little bit more, ala Steve Yzerman with his gimpy knee the last time the Wings were in the finals. (Born in Detroit, raised in Tampa) Anyways, I hope to God there is a Game 7, and for anyone who is in the area, I'll be at the Forum, outside (my poor ass can't get in) chugging beer at 12 noon and watching the game on the big screen, even though it's like 25 dollars for parking. In short, if the Flames eliminate my Red Wings and Lightning in the same year, I think I might have to take a flight to Canada and burn the country down. Let's Go Lightning. Let's Go Lightning. You Americans tried that once in like 1886(?), and you didn't do so well. Just thought I'd point that out. Nice game overall, congrats to the Flames who are a game away from the Stanley Cup.
