I cannot name one San Jose Shark and they're #2 in the West. Meanwhile the only Blue I know is Al McInnis and I think he has to retire...this is not a compelling series AT ALL, yet it's being televised while the Battle Of Ontario and even Devils-Flyers go unshown. Yes, I'll admit that 2 games is far from a full series, let alone an entire postseason. But Raycroft has stopped 56 of 57 shots through 2+ games, and the only one that he let win was on a 5-3 penalty kill (in which neither penalty should have been called). The officiating was fucking brutal in the Boston-Montreal game tonight, and is all that prevented Raycroft from having back-back shutouts to start his postseason career. And come on, Czech Republic, how do you know so few Sharks or Blues?? San Jose I can kind of understand, they basically reinvented themselves these last few years, but St Louis has half a dozen major names other than Macinnnis (Pronger, Weight, Tkachuk, Demitra, Osgood, Jackman, Weinrich). Even SJ has Damphousse, Ricci, Marleau and Nabakov. I understand that they're not all household names, but you've been posting in the hockey threads all year. You forgot to mention Koivu's stick was inside of Raycroft's pads pulling him away from the puck during the shot. The NESN replay showed it clearly. Speaking of the Avs, isn't this the first year since 1994 that the Nordiques/Avalanche were not division champions? Nine straight years is impressive however. They kept saying that they're 9 year streak on top of the Northwest division was over, but that division didn't even exist until they went to 3 divisions. In '95, the Nords won the Northeast, then from '96 until they went to 3 divisions they won the Pacific, and they won the Northwest from then until this season. As I expected, the Lighning have looked weak in this series. The Isles have a tremendous defense, well 4 defensemen. Now with Blake back in the line-up, they're going to be even tougher. I still think they're sitting ducks to lose in round 2(against anybody Van, Col, Det, Cal or Dal) but they looked dominant today. Nabokov is SO overlooked it's not even funny. Raycroft and Theo get a lot of press and, obviously, Brodeur but Nabokov has outshined them all so far. But it's time for the main event tonight. TO must win or they're done. Sadly, no...the refs gift-wrapped this one for Toronto after all Pat Quinn's bellyaching.
