OAO 2004 MLB Games Thread

October Blood looks like he'll be to the Reds what Mik at Cornell was to the Marlins all last season, albeit, much more annoying.

Oh, I see. I cant be happy that the Reds win? I can't be a smart ass like the others are torwards the Reds? Well hell, look at that.

I'll gladly leave TSM if you think I'm annoying. I wouldn't want to upset those Mighty Cub fans would I? No way.

Dude, don't get your panties in a bunch. You act like everyone done nothing but shit on the Reds, when that doesn't even seem to be the case. You act as if everyone's been all over the Phillies, when the most recent praises I can remember were from Al who simply was being opptimistic.

Anyway, this simply isn't the Cubs' day and I've gotta say that the Maddux acquisition was a bad idea unless he can actually even somewhat resemble what he did in Atlanta. Pratt is utter garbage and the Cubs' hitting has been dismal today. The only thing that kept them in the game was the Pirates' god-awful defense.

One bright spot today has been the fans, who while they've been brutal to the pitchers, have been highly-entertaining in some of their comments and I couldn't help but laugh at the standing ovation the first strike of the inning in the 8th got.

And I agree with the blonde during the 7th inning stretch. I think it was pretty obviouos the camera guy had a little something something for her, since he panned back to her three times.

Not sure where that came from. It's not only here, but everyone in the media, and hell, even I predicted the Phillies to do really good this year (and they still will). Is making a sarcastic joke about the Phillies offense really honestly pissing you off? Because I don't see why it would. If you don't like it, ignore it. I ignore your little posts about the overrated Cubs, so you can do the same when I speak about the Reds or Phillies, if it's gonna get to you that much.

Oh, and everyone, but a few Reds fans, has shit on the Reds. Again, not just here, but anywhere and everywhere. So, yeah, it's refeshing when they have to eat their words, such as Al today when predicting the offense coming to life against this team. I thought it was quite funny. I can understand why he won't think so, but who cares. If I want to mock another team when they clearly mock us first, then I should be able to.

Again, I am not angry nor do I have my silky panties in a bunch (Oh, they feel good), but it looks like you and the other guy getting on my case does in fact have some problems. Just lay off and try and get along with folks, because after all, we love the only sport that matters, baseball.

Haha, "OHHH SHIT" - some guy on WGN (from the stands, no doubt).

Guys, guys...please...stop with all the arguing.

Let's not lose sight of what's really important, the fact that the Marlins have the best record in baseball.

Hi Anglesault.

I wonder if Bonds would be at 700 by now if he didn't play at Pac Bell...

Too bad he didn't try to sign with San Diego during the Qualcomm days...he'd be at 800 by now.

MARK PRIOR'S right elbow injury could be serious enough to require Tommy John surgery and keep him out for the whole year, according to the word circulating among baseball executives. Cubs manager DUSTY BAKER , who has a tendency to leave his starters in for extremely high pitch counts, has been confiding in friends that the situation is bleak. Losing Prior for an extended time would obviously be a big blow for the Cubs, who don't have a lot of wiggle room in their payroll budget to trade for another starter.

Ooohhhhhhhhhhhh, shit.

No room? They're the fucking Chicago Tribune. They'll make room. So Prior is out, Maddux is a bust, and fucking SHAWN ESTES is winning games in Colorado!

Well, Hendry better open up the purse strings a little more now...who would be a good fit on the mound at Wrigley?

Jesus, I just got home and Maddux is already down five against the Bucks? Good god, what a poor move this has been thus far.

There is a reason the Braves didn't sign him again.

Maddux has not been dominating for about 2 years now.

How good is the Cubs farm system and what trades can they make?

They got a solid system. They have a guy down there that is suppose to throw harder than Randy Johnson once did.

I didn't predict the offense would come to life. I said a series against the Reds was a good chance to do so. There's a difference between an observation and a prediction. And I of all people have been more sanguine about the Reds' chances than most.

As for Ryan Madson, he has pitched quite well in the minors. He's posted a 28-12 record over the last two seasons, with good peripherals. He could easily be a starter in the majors, right now.
