JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 From WO... WWE house show report 4-4 Dothan by Byron Vester Opening match, SD Tag Titles: Too Cool vs. The Bashams Big pop for Too Cool and good heat for the Bashams(probably because it was the opener). Decent tag match with all the usual Too Cool spots and Rikishi getting the pin with the superkick and both guys dancing with a kid from the crowd. Rico(w/Miss Jackie)/Jamie Noble So-so match that the crowd didn't really get all that into except for when Rico started doing his schtick by messing with Noble old school Goldust-style. Rico gets the pin with some odd move I've never seen before. Nunzio/Orlando Jordan Another blah match with the only highlights being Nunzio mocking Jordan and talking smack with the fans at ringside. Jordan gets the win with whatever his finisher's called. Booker T/Undertaker Booker comes out to an insanely huge pop and then cuts the "SD is the minor leagues" promo to turn heel. Funny bit was when he dissed some guy sitting up front for not standing up when he made his entrance and still got cheered. He makes the challenge to the SD dressing room and Taker shows up like at all the rest of the house shows leading up to this one, shocking everybody. The "match" was literally Booker punching Taker 3 times and kicking him to break up the Chokeslam only to get Tombstoned like 10 seconds later for the pin. Intermission time as the announcer shills the Product Booths they set up. Dudleys/Akio & Sakado Really blah match with the Dudleys winning with the usual. Rob Van Dam/Charlie Haas Damn good pop for RVD, so-so heat for Haas. Haas still used the old WGTT theme(which rocks). Pretty much the MOTN(which isn't saying much). Lots of arm work by Haas that RVD actually SELLS FOR ONCE! RVD wins with the usual, but at least he sold for once. Bob Holly/Mark Jindrak Smackdown GM Kurt Angle came out to a mixed reaction and did the spiel he used for his first show as SD GM and then Dawn Marie comes out asking to be his assistant. They make a few Clinton-esqe sexual puns and then Kurt intros Holly who gets a so-so reaction while Jindrak gets no heat whatsoever. The match itself was rather boring and rally dumb with Dawn Marie being made special ref mid-match and screwing Holly by not counting 3 and fast counting for Jindrak's school boy. John Cena/Rene Dupree, US Title match Cena comes out first to the biggest pop of the night, bar none. The crowd chanted his name so much and so often that it took him a good 4 minutes to get into his spiel. Dupree comes out and tries to rap on Cena and John grabs some guy's markerboard from ringside and writes "Rene's gay" on it and shows everyone in the arena, which gets a HUGE "Rene's Gay!" chant going. The match starts and the chant comes up again(for about the 4th time) and Rene does the old, great heel standby and threatens to leave if the chant keeps going. Match was kinda blah, but the fans were INTO Cena, as in "chant his name every 30 seconds". Dupree even pulls out the Dance~! and gets huge heel heat for it. Cena finishes with the FU and Rene gets the "Rene's Gay!" chant again as he's leaving. Main event WWE Championship Match, Eddy Guerrero/John "Bradshaw" Leyfield We got gyped on this one because the advertised main was supposed to be Eddy and Big Show. Angle comes out again(who stayed ringside to put a stop to any cheating that may happen) and intros Bradshaw(who gets no heat), who's still wearing the APA tights. Bradshaw cuts a promo on Eddy asking for a thousand bucks for his hat and then disses the Crimson Tide which gets him booed(although it didn't last for the match). Eddy came out to the third biggest pop of the night(kinda disappointing, but I understand why since he got no promo time whatsoever). The match itself was terrible. Bradshaw controls it almost the entire time and it SUCKS. He'd go from a regular chinlock and into a Million Dollar Dream, get back up and trade stuff with Eddy for maybe a minute or so and then go back to the chinlock. Bradshaw ain't ready for this push and this match shows it. Finish came when the ref gets bumped and Angle throws the belt into the ring and Bradshaw gets it and missed Eddy only to get DDT'd. Eddy grabs the belt, KOs Bradshaw, and Angle gets in the ring to interfer again. The ref revives and Eddy tosses the belt to Angle who gets caught redhanded and admonished by the ref while Eddy frog splashes Leyfield for the three count to end the show. Biggest pops 1. Cena 2. Booker T 3. Eddy 4. Undertaker 5. Too Cool Biggest heel heat 1. Booker T(once he cut the "minor leagues" promo) 2. Rene Dupree 3. Bradshaw(once he dissed Alabama) 4. Bashams 5. Nunzio
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Lots of arm work by Haas that RVD actually SELLS FOR ONCE! PUSH HIM~! Go Rob! Alright, I'm done. Shit, Smackdown sucks now. And why do they have cruiserweights face heavyweights to less than spectaculer results when a purely cruiser match would be more entertaining?

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Them muthafuckas are suffering from what they call BWS or Benoit Withdrawl Syndrome. I'd also like to point out that Shelton Benjamin follows Benoit to Raw and gets a push. Just sayin'. Poor Eddy.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Smackdown house show results sound the same as usual. AWFUL. Is anyone surprised?
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I went to a pretty good house show the night after Wrestlemania. It had: Eddie vs Big Show in a understandbly lackluster match considering it was a mere 24 hours since Guerrero's big match with Angle and Show's physical condition. Guerrero wins after a belt shot and two frog splashes. Chavo vs Rey Mysterio vs Jamie Noble vs Ultimo Dragon: I marked like a bitch for this one. To make things better, it was an elimination match! Noble was eliminated first due to his injury, with Dragon lasting quite a while before his elimination. Chavo beats Mysterio to retain his title, but Mysterio got to 619 both generations of Chavos afterwards. Torrie vs Nidia: Or my introduction to Nidia's new breasts. I shuddered the entire time. I forget who won, probably Torrie. APA vs Akio/Sakoda: Wasn't too terrible, Akio pissed Bradshaw off early in the match so Bradshaw spent the rest of it specifically trying to destroy him. APA wins of course. Rhyno vs John Cena: Cena did his shtick with Paul Heyman and Dawn Marie before the match, which was great. Rhyno runs in and gores Cena to massive heat (though I marked). The match was about two minutes long, with Cena winning. Tajiri def Shannon Moore. The crowd was quiet, yet polite for this match. Tajiri won, of course. It was pretty good, though even I wasn't all that into it, which was weird considering I like both guys. Rikishi and Scotty vs Bashams vs WGTT: Benjamin and Haas cut some good promos before the match, one section of the audience spent the entire time cheering for Shelton. Bashams debuted their new green tights and Benjamin stated they looked like "Robin Hood and Peter Pan." This was a pretty good match, with 2 Cool retaining their titles. Billy Gunn, Billy Kidman, and Paul London beat the FBI in my favorite match of the night! I marked out hard for London, and there were a few random smark cheers for London during the match. Crowd was very into Gunn, which was disturbing. Hardcore Holly vs A-Train was the opener. Wow, this match sucked. The crowd was totally oblivious to this fact and marked the entire time. Holly had a huge face pop and A-Train was practically booed from the building (not many Shave Your Back chants either). All in all, it was really just another show. I enjoyed it quite a bit, as always, but it's sad when WWE shows are starting to feel routine. I kind of want Raw to come back, because I miss the feeling of being there and knowing that it's being broadcasted live while I'm there.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I'm tempted to order JD just to see how badly Eddie vs. Bradshaw will go. But then I remember that it's $35 and forget it.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2004 u can always just go the bar or pirate the show here. I am SOOO going to the bar to see what kind of crowd a Bradshaw main event will draw... It's still early vince...you can go Guerrero/Booker!
Michrome 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Smackdown house shows SHOULD be strong. It's really absurd given the junior talent level on them. Rey, Chavo, Tajiri, Knoble, Dragon, Yang, London, Nunzio....then you've got Haas, RVD, Booker, and Eddy up top..no reason to be having terrible house shows. I predict they panick and change plans on Bradshaw vs. Eddy.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Yep WWE Head #1: Damn it, Rich Evil Bradshaw isn't drawing a damn reaction WWE head #2: Idiot fans. This is GOLD! Vince: What do we do fellas? WWE HEAD #3: Uh drop Bradshaw from the ME slot and give it to that over Booker T Vince: The darkie? I don't think so...Tell you what! YOUUUURRRR FIIIRRRED. WWE #3: Oh well, Back to working at 7-11 I guess. WWE Head #2: What about...we put the title ON bradshaw NOW! Vince: My God son you just got yourself a 2 million dollar raise! Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Bradshaw/Eddy is apprently a Lock Booker/Taker seems likely I think RVD and Haas are going to be doing one of those "we wrestle a bunch of times for no reason" programs... Cena/Dupree seems LOCKED. Rey/Chavo will be on there... Likely Two Cool with Heel turned dudleyz as well God... Bradshaw/Eddy Taker/Booker Cena/Dupree Rey/Chavo (#232) RVD/Haas 2Cool/Dudleyz This card will TANK massively.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Because having Booker T vs. Eddie, Eddie vs. RVD, or **gasp** Eddie vs. Booker T vs. RVD (playing off the fact they used to be tag champs until someone accidentally kicked someone else in the head) would've been too easy. Let's hope Judgement Day is Bradshaw's last match and he starts managing Haas or something.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2004 NWO was pretty much MADE to be a low draw...I guess with vince assuming people were skipping NWO for the pricier Mania...at least that match had a sure fire **** match to offer...the best we may get here is a *** match that we've seen a million times already. it's amazing how Raw has so many better viables for it's cards and how much better it has been in ring and storyline wise this year. I know TBS is hurt but he could have just done non-wrestling up until JD...That was a MUCH better alternative. < wants to go back a year ago and tell people that THE BIG SHOW would be the best Main eventer option around for WWE Champion Eddy Guerrero and that Bradshaw would be a smark darlin. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Booker comes out to an insanely huge pop !!!! That's Dothan, ALABAMA, right? I like how it took two TV matches and at least as many house show matches for those involved to realize that maybe working on RVD's arm may be better than his leg. I eagerly await for this whole charade to just flop.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 wants to go back a year ago and tell people that THE BIG SHOW would be the best Main eventer option around for WWE Champion Eddy Guerrero and that Bradshaw would be a smark darlin. No one will beleive you. You might as well tell them that Cena's one of the most over guys in the company. They won't believe that either. Then mention Trish is a heel or that Foley's wrestling again. Then tell them Brock is dating Sable. And to top it all off, say that HHH jobbed clean to Benoit at WM20. (Damn, the last 12 months have been weird.)

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Question for anyone that has gone to a Smackdown House Show post WrestleMania: When the Undertaker comes out for his "match", 1)Is he announced to the ring with hometown and weight and 2)If so, is he announced from Houston still, or back to Death Valley? DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Let's hope Judgement Day is Bradshaw's last match and he starts managing Haas or something. I can see Haas joining up with Bradshaw, especially as Haas used to work on Wall Street before taking up wrestling. I just don't want to see Charlie saddled with that talentless ape. *thinks of his favourite WWE superstar teamed with his least favourite, then cries*

JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 The fans will turn on Cena eventually. It kind of reminds me of the Rock, because he was popular for a while once he had gone "soft" as a babyface, but the people slowly started to turn against him.

It kind of reminds me of the Rock, because he was popular for a while once he had gone "soft" as a babyface, but the people slowly started to turn against him. Which is a good thing because then he'd be a monster heel and go back to the good disses, and diss the shit out of the crowd. Which will eventually turn him face again, sorta like The Rock. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I thought we were all going to give SD PPVs the benefit of the doubt from now on considering JD (and Unforgiven?) turned out surprisingly better than expected. Then again... "Torrie vs Nidia: Or my introduction to Nidia's new breasts. I shuddered the entire time. I forget who won, probably Torrie." I'd guarantee it. If not for Pulp Fiction, Bradshaw would be lucky to still have a career right now.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I thought we were all going to give SD PPVs the benefit of the doubt from now on considering JD (and Unforgiven?) turned out surprisingly better than expected. ????? Judgment Day was a dual-brand PPV, and by far the worst of the bunch last year. May 2003 fucking stank. Unforgiven was RAW-only where Goldberg won the title. Maybe you mean Vengeance and No Mercy. Despite how 'good' the matches were, both were buyrate flops, barely ahead of Armageddon. The card and results of No Mercy became almost totally irrelevant by the end of the year, due to stupid booking decisions beforehand.
Silence 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Which is a good thing because then he'd be a monster heel and go back to the good disses, and diss the shit out of the crowd. Which will eventually turn him face again, sorta like The Rock. Think about which promotion we're talking about....the same one that pussied out on a Rock heel turn for so long when he was getting stale in 2000 and FINALLY (no pun intended), the creative team got the hint 3 years later and turned him heel when he came back to wrestle Hogan at No Way Out in their Wrestlemania X-8 rematch. So expect Cena to continue shitty lines like "EVERYBODY MAKE SOME NOOIIIISSSSSE!!", "DEEEEEEZ NUTS!", and "WORD MOTHER FREAKIN' LIYEEEEEEEEEEEFFFFFE!!" for the next few years until WWE realizes how stale he is.
