After reading Keith's RAW rant, he notes (from the WON) the reason why Benoit is being hailed from Atlanta is because they don't want their top face stars as Canadians. Hence, Jericho is now from NY and why Christian is still from Toronto. Also, even though she's a heel, Gail Kim is now from Korea. I'd say this is one of the most idiotic decisions to make, but then i rememberd that we had Bushwacker 2K4 debut tonight.

And why change Nidia's hometown to Puerto Rico after promoting her for years as southren trailer park trash?

 

The conspirancy theorist in me also wonders if benoit changing his hometown before Backlash is just a cooincidence.

THe mayor of Edmonton Bill Smith will be presenting a special welcome home ceremony for Chris Benoit on April 15 at 12pm noon in City Hall.

 

Interesting news. Normally the WWE loves publicity like this but it'll be interesting to see if they avoid it now.

I'm guessing that the higher ups are telling the talent that the hometown changes are to make things "more realistic." It's odd that Lance Storm doesn't know, though. He's friends with most of the Canadian wrestlers and you'd think he would ask them about it. Of course, that's assuming management even gave them a reason for the changes.

This whole hometown thing is lame...part of the reason I like Jericho, Storm, Edge, and Benoit is that they ARE Canadian.
