cynicalprofit 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Didn't it seem like he was holding back from screaming out some really racist things like using the words "spic" and "wetback"? I swear that felt like a PG version of what he wanted to say. (During the Kurt Angel Award ceremony) Whats the point of making a character a racist, that just reflects so badly on wrestling. I can understand the whole wanna-be ted dibiase(sp) rich guy bit, but attacking some ones ethicnic background is just low for a wrestling character. Sure it makes him a heel, but there are way better ways to get heat, and not easily obtainable cheap heat. Also SOMEONE PLEASE screen cap that shot of Jindrak craddeling Long. That look on Teddy's face was priceless.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Bradshaw's not really "playing a character" here... And when you're talking about Bradshaw, you've got to take any heat any way you can get it.
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I don't have a problem with it. WWE has actually made me interested in Bradshaw and --dare I say it -- liking his character. That's a feat worthy of recognition. I hate him in a markish way and want to see him get his comeuppance. And I think the character is more xenophobic than racist. There's a difference. Especially canadians.
cynicalprofit 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I agree he's probbaly not playing a character, but I didn't want to sound like I was saying anyone from Texas shared his beliefs or anything like that.
reign 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I'm just glad that they toned down the whole wall street and FOX News blah blah blah this week and tried something different(WWE and different?). But you have to give the hoss a little credit...he's been playing the beer drinking Texan for the better part of 5 years now...this heel thing seems to be picking up steam
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 9, 2004 And I think the character is more xenophobic than racist. There's a difference. But Eddie's a native-born U.S. citizen...or did they change his hometown now? Yeah, but the JBL character probably doesn't consider him a "real American" because of his heritage. There are some racial overtones, I admit, but I don't think it's a full-on racist gimmick. I wouldn't put it on the level of, say, Col. DeBeers or even the Triple-H/Booker T feud. JBL's an interesting heel because he's not evil for the sake of being evil. He thinks he's doing the right thing.

Let Bradshaw keep getting pushed, cause it's pushing me away faster and faster. I think the subtitle under the name WWE to link into this folder should be changed. "Bitch about the latest RAW and laugh at whos being pushed on the latest Smackdown."
Styles 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 What I wonder is how Fox News would react if they found out one of their analysts was on TV saying these things, even if it was just "in character"...

Obnoxious how people in this thread make smug comments about Bradshaw probably not being out of character. Guest JMA Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Get a clue. Neither of them would support those kinds of statements. I gotta disagree there. O'Reilly and Hannity are well known pieces of shit. Still, that doesn't mean Bradshaw is a racist or anything. I never got that vibe off him in the few of his columns I've read. And I'm not defending him, either. I pretty much disagree with all of his political beliefs. The character entertains me, and that's all I care about right now.

notJames 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 That would be his comments on the post-Sept. 11th Smackdown, about killing foreigners or something. About as classless as Stuffy McHams' comment comparing the bombing to the US Government going after her daddy during the steroid scandal. As for Bradshaw's latest run channeling Ted DiBiase, colour me unimpressed. Well, more unimpressed than I usually am with him. I mean, did they really have to give him fifteen minutes to milk the whole "wax my car" bit? Sheesh.

Because they've already done it, and a 16-year old kid with a .22 rifle guarding his family's flock of sheep was killed by a "Weekend Warrior" who thought he was a "significant threat." Also, Bradshaw and Eddie are BOTH from Texas. Bradshaw is from Sweetwater, Texas, which is slightly south of San Antonio, and Eddie is from El Paso, Texas, where I live. The WWE writers need to get their shit straight before they start a thinly-veiled racist character, and have him fued with another guy because of it.
reign 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I think were both missing each others points..and writers getting their shit straight would be a godsend at this point..this coming from the same company that's placing every Canadian wrestler as hailing from everywhere BUT the place they are known to be from...besides..Bradshaws a HEEL...he doesn't care where Eddie was born...he plays the part of a rich guy who wants the title and he'll do anything to piss of the Champ...even if that means ignoring their birthplace so he can slander his heritage...on one hand it's good psychology for heel to do it...Dibiase did it many times, like with Razor Ramon...we're in agreement on one thing though...the borders are fucked
Guest Quik Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I think it's funny that Bradshaw was tagging with a black guy for years before he turned. What suddenyl set him off to hate minorities? Farooq's firing?

But Eddie's a native-born U.S. citizen...or did they change his hometown now? That reminds me of a line from Paul Rodrigze (sp) comedy " Why don't you go back where you came from?" Paul: El Paso? I believe however that Johnny Boy isn't being Racist as he is Being Xenophoic. He would probably come up with some Eh's and Canuck remarks about a Canadian wrestler that might be against him.
