Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 While Bradshaw's in-ring style hasn't changed and won't, let's focus on his gimmick. For one thing, he delivers entertaining promos - you're interested in his life outside of wrestling. I also love that smile that he delivers - it's neither a heel nor a face vote. It's just an innocent smile, just like a kid who can't see wrong from right. Alright, while writing this, I just saw Bradshaw's "Anti-Mexican" promo on SmackDown!. I think that he might've over-stepped the mark on that one, but otherwise, he's not bad. What do you think?
Guest DeathBecomesYou Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I like the gimmick, it's just so over the top that you can't help but hate the guy. Though I thought the segment where he was catching people crossing the border is a bit too much, WWE better be careful, as they're on the verge of pissing off a lot of people. But aside from the racial parts of the gimmick, it's just really funny. I still can't stand the guy, but he's doing a pretty good job right now. My only worry, is that with Eddie getting the better of Bradshaw as of late on a regular basis, is that WWE are setting up for Bradshaw to go over Eddie at the PPV.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Yes, the new gimmick is doing him wonders. He's now getting legitimate heat when he comes out. He gives great promos, even though, yes, that promo in the bush was very close to pissing a lot of people off - and it probably did. This was the right gimmick for him - and he's facing Eddy at Judgment Day, that's all there is to it. The mark in me actually wants to see that match - just some good, solid wrestling, you know? And to see how it goes, because I have a doubt that it will be a bad Main Event. So, a thumbs-up from me on the new gimmick, and hopefully Bradshaw doesn't need Eddy to carry him a great deal at Judgment Day - Hopefully, Bradshaw is worthy of working the Main Event himself.
Lil' Bitch Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I wish he'd change the name of his finisher to The Clothesline from Wall Street or the Stock Market Crash. The Clothesline from Hell is too APA-ish, something that he is not anymore.

Nevermortal Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 While Bradshaw's in-ring style hasn't changed and won't, let's focus on his gimmick. I think that he might've over-stepped the mark on that one, but otherwise, he's not bad. What do you think? 1. In his defense, no one's seen him wrestle since he changed the gimmick. The extent of his physical activity has been a run-in on Eddy. Granted, when he does get up there and wrestle, and does the same schtick, I'll eat crow, but at least give the guy the benefit of the doubt. 2. I'm not really that interested in some guy who's a stockbroker/amateur border patroller. 3. I'll give him that. 4. I find it funny that when WWE found out that Latinos make up the biggest audience for Smackdown, they decided that in order for any heel to get heat, they have to go after them in promos. It's the new "Heel Scheming Authority Figure screws babyface". Oh wait. They do that too.
SuperJerk Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I can't bring myself to care about a World Title challenger who rarely wins or even wrestles in matches. Cena had a great heel gimmick one year ago, was given a PPV title shot, and no one cared then, either. Smackdown would be better off with Bradshaw managing Haas or someone else who's a good worker but not great at promos.
reign Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I think that everybody is kind of missing the point...most people know that Eddie's in it for the long hall and that Bradshaws NOT getting that title(at least I hope not). Bradshaw is going through a makeover and it will be interesting to see how his style has been changed..they need to give him some technical but powerful moves(bearhugs, work the back, ect.) Everybody wanted new stars but the WWE doesn't have anybody..I mean at this point in Eddies title run he needs to still become an established champ and to do this he needs to beat a variety of opponents..like Brets first run as champ. I know it's hard to believe that Bradshaw can work but we should at least give it a chance..at least for Eddies sake
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Yes, reign, I think that Bradshaw could execute some of those moves that you speak of - it's just that when he and Faarooq were the APA, they're gimmick didn't exactly call for scientific wrestling. No, Bradshaw's not getting the belt - he's fresh Championship material, ane hopefully (for his sake, at least), after his feud with Eddy, his gimmick still stays strong, and it would make sense for him to chase after the U.S. Championship. I don't have a great deal with him holding it, because it's room for fresh feuds, and I have even less problems with it if Bradshaw's new gimmick does indeed call for some better wrestling.
ChrisMWaters Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Here's a positive of Bradshaw's new gimmick: After watching Royal Rumble 1998...at least he doesn't have "BJ" on the back of his tights.
Scroby Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 You know I was thinking about Bradshaw's gimmick while watching something on TV the other day and I was thinking that maybe WWE is doing what they did with Bret Hart while he was champion. Remember the Papa Shango title shot? The Razor Ramon title shot?....The Jean Pierre title shot? To me the WWE is going back to that with Bradshaw.
Guest Trivia247 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 This is probably the most direction Bradshaw ever had as a Singles wrestler.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 This is probably the most direction Bradshaw ever had as a Singles wrestler. Of course it is - he was "half of a Tag Team" every other time, and that's something that WWE are making people forget.

I'm shocked nobody mentioned this: Bradshaw's gimmick appears to have been based on the old Eddy Guerrero & Art Barr tag team. Anti-Mexican to piss of the Hispanic audience. Heck, I'm waiting for Bradshaw to start doing Barr's "swimming to the shore" taunt. -=Mike

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Something vile, something that hints at the Clothesline From Hell name, but is fractured, furthering him as a sell-out.
Guest Trivia247 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 The Fair and Balanced Clothesline! The Clothesline From Fox News!
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 The Border Patroller? No, that wouldn't work for more reasons that one.

humongous2002 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I think i'm going insane, are you guys actually praising Bradshaw's promo skills? What promo skills?????
Guest Goodear Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 He's now getting legitimate heat when he comes out. He gives great promos, even though, yes, that promo in the bush was very close to pissing a lot of people off - and it probably did. Good. Pissing people off is a great way to make money. People love to get pissed off, especially the more markish they are. And considering the Hispanic audience riots over Jeff Jarrett going over one their guys in Mexico, I think its mighty fair to call them marcos.
Guest Repo Man Reborn Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 The good point about Bradshaw's new gimmick is he is not topless and my eyes are not subjected to his supple man-breasts.
haVoc Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 You know I was thinking about Bradshaw's gimmick while watching something on TV the other day and I was thinking that maybe WWE is doing what they did with Bret Hart while he was champion. Remember the Papa Shango title shot? That was a TV title shot on Saturday Night Main Event. A TV title shot is all Bradshaw should get. The Razor Ramon title shot?.... I believe that PPV was also sold on Flair Vs Mr. Perfect The Jean Pierre title shot? Bret feuded with him during Nash's company killing title reign. To me the WWE is going back to that with Bradshaw. The WWF was lacking in talent then. WWE has no excuse for pushing Bradshaw or a Bob Holly when they have talent who is over on the roster.

A career of bad wrestling isn't going to suddenly disappear overnight with a gimmick change. If Bradshaw was a lot younger I would say he could possibly improve. But he's only gotten worse over the last few years. And now that he's a heel he has to actually control the flow of a match. He's going to be a disaster in the ring.

If you had "Bob, the crap wrestler" and he suddenly changed his ring name to, say, "Chris Benoit" --- I'd expect a change in work. -=Mike
reign Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Awww Come ON!!! Give this angle a chance!! Those of you comparing this feud with those of Bret Harts are ABSOLUTELY right!!! Yes Survivor Series of 92 didn't have Bret featured as the main event but can any of you say that he is any less of a great CHAMPION because of that?! Bret Hart made okay workers look great and hardly EVER had a good worker to have a match with. Eddie can do the same if not(dare I say) more!! STOP hounding Bradshaw with your nitpicking.....you haven't even watched a match with the "new" Bradshaw yet for crying out loud..

PLAGIARISM! Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 They should give the clothesline a sponsor each week. 'Oh man, the clothesline from hell, tazz! It's academic..' 'We should take a moment to thank Magic: the Gathering for bringing us that clothesline.'
