I'm sincerely hoping that you don't hate Bret, Tawren, as I value your opinion more so then most around here and it would suck if you did. Bret and Vince were both at fault in different ways, but Shawn was basically a pawn in that whole thing. And I had a bad Bret experience at an autograph signing once too, about 3 years ago. He didn't spit on anybody or anything, but he was acting like a jerk. I was a little nervous, but I stuck my hand out for a shake and he left me hanging there for a minute, took a sip of his Coke, and looked like he was glaring at me from under his hat before he finally shook my hand. I gotta be honest, it was a little disillusioning. I understand wrestlers are people too and everyone has good days and bad, but when you're in the public eye and people are waiting to see you, suck it up a little and put your best face forward. He knew what wasn't going on, and he had enough pull to affect things. They had bad blood, and he washed his hands. IMO, tehy're all wrong and you can't sort things out. I've mellowed on my position on Hart lately, and figure everyone should just accept their blame in the situation and realise that there all interrelated, that it's not something you can pick apart at. Jeff Hardy was outcheered in the match, period. Canadian fans might've forgiven him for Montreal. But that doesn't mean they'll cheer him over Chris fucking Benoit either. Especially since its in his home fucking town. He was being an ass to a little kid, which kind of made me mad, but I didn't care that much. You can't expect him to be happy now, especially with how shitty his life has turned out. If my favorite wrestler was an asshole to me, that wouldn't mean I would stop liking him. As for No Way Out, they had Jericho stay heel (even though he had the fucking crowd eating out of the palm of his hand for an obvious reason) by beating up Jeff with Christian which caused Michaels to come make the save, which forced the fans to cheer HBK. Fro 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I think people see Benoit as the Stampede heir more than Jericho. Especially since he and Bret wrestled in WCW a bit. Benoit certainly can wrestle a Bret-style match, and Jericho really doesn't do that. Benoit uses a lot of moves Bret and Owen did, and obviously a ton Dynamite Kid did. Finally, Benoit is from Alberta and Jericho isn't. I'd say the hatred for Michaels probably runs a lot deeper in Alberta than in Montreal. What I was wondering, Choken, is whether Shawn will turn heel, or perhaps just play heel for the match, or will carry on as a face regardless of fan reaction (which is what he seemed to do at WMXX). If he plays face I'd be quite happy if JR just explained it away with something along the lines of "It's pretty clear that the fans want to see their hometown boy Benoit win this one!", "Shawn Michaels is not a crowd favourite in this neck of the woods!" etc. etc., but I just think that's too simple for JR - we'll end up with the old 'split crowd' nonsense.
