LJSexay 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I thought it was GREAT that he got to pull out [not literally] the vintage Goldust routine to psych out Charlie Haas in their match. You could smell the uncomfort from Charlie as Rico matched Charlie's chokes and punches with gropes and feels. Call me krazy but I thought this was a really good match psychologically, where an amateur superstar in Haas couldn't do one thing without getting weirded out. The kiss was the kicker and I don't know.. ...are we in for a Rico push? FINALLY?
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 It wasn't great at all. What a waste of Haas. I'm sorry, but it's that kind of shit that embarrasses me to watch WWE sometimes. It's lame.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 The only thing good about it is that it ended. This character that Rico is working with is NOT Goldust type work, not at all. Smackdown was just slap dab FULL of WrestleCrap this week.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I find it embarrassing that someone like Charlie Haas, a collegiate amatuer wrestler from Sedan Hall (sp?), has to fight comedy matches with RICO and pretend he's homophobic. Waste of Time. Waste of Talent.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I can only hope, LJ. It was very reminiscent of Goldust when he kept with messing with Razor Ramon in their Intercontinental Title bout at RR 96. I loved Charlie's selling of his sickness for the antics, especially the fake puking. Athough workrate-wise, the match against Jamie Noble the previous week was better. Speaking of which, they should have mentioned that Jamie had previously faced Rico. It would have made Noble talking to Haas about it make more sense. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Isn't it great how Haas jobs to Rico on a worthless SD! match while Shelton goes over Triple H clean in a RAW main event, and will be facing Ric Flair at a Pay-Per-View? I always felt Haas was holding back Shelton's star potential anyway. UYI
Guest DeathBecomesYou Report post Posted April 18, 2004 While Shelton was the obvious star of the WGTT, i still believe Haas will be a good upper midcard singles worker if given a chance, while i felt the match itself was stupid, I couldn't help but laugh at Charlie's over exaggerated selling and facial expressions, when he was beating the shit out of Rico while saying "You sick freak" I just found it funny. It's really the first time, that for better or for worse, Haas has shown some personality.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 It's really the first time, that for better or for worse, Haas has shown some personality. That's what I thought, but the whole match wreaked of Wrestlecrap.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 18, 2004 The whole match's focus was a bit "out there", as was Haas post-match. It seems as if Rico is getting over at the moment, so let'd hope that WWE tone down on the gimmick a bit and focus on the wrestling.

JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I thought it was rather entertaining, but I still can't believe the shit Charlie Haas has to put up with. The only thing I didn't like about the match was that it went on and on, and I think Rico should try and wrestle, then if that isn't getting him the win resort to the gay stuff so we can actually get a match out of him. I also didn't like Charlie Haas' poor attempt at puking, and the announcers playing it up like it was hilarious. You would think Michael Cole would learn his lesson after Booker T puked on him a couple of years ago.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I still remember the one night that I was at my parent's house in April of 2002. My dad agreed to watch Smackdown (he was a big wrestling fan before it got overly smutty) with me that night. I leave the room to take a phone call, I come back and he's muttering and cursing out Vince McMahon. I asked him what match he saw. Billy and Chuck vs. the Hardy Boyz. He didn't understand how two flamboyantly gay tag teams and a gay hair dresser was supposed to appeal to any demographic. I can't see the EVEN GAYER~! Rico working out much better. Internet Warfare 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Fuck Rico . What's wrong with Rico? First off, what the fuck is up with Rico's attire? Jesus it's embarrassing. I can't watch a match with the guy until he loses the gut, gets rid of the sideburns and gets a haircut. The character just isn't appealing to me. And how do you know Haas has to *pretend* to be homophobic? You don't know the guy...
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 It was very reminiscent of Goldust when he kept with messing with Razor Ramon in their Intercontinental Title bout at RR 96. I loved Charlie's selling of his sickness for the antics, especially the fake puking. See, Deon, that's where I draw the line. I can understand that you're a Rico fan, but you should be able to tell crap from quality, regardless if it has Rico onscreen or not. You and I both know that Rico is capable of a lot more than what was on display in that match. I won't care about the gimmick or the makeup or any of that as long as good wrestling is delivered in the ring. And that match was far below decent for what he can do. The "Oh my, how fruity this is!" positions, the kissing, all that stuff lost it's edge after the first time it was done. It's interesting that this stuff gets a good reaction from the crowd now, due to his odd pseudo-turn to face when the writers decided to notice the fact that he has an attractive woman by his side and that we should like them because she's skanky. Toxxic 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I like the fact that Rico is now face, because it is now heels who get freaked out by his behaviour and therefore the crowd laugh at homophobes rather than the supposed homosexual. I wish he'd wrestle a bit more though. And Charlie Haas "puking" was just too much.

I wish he'd wrestle a bit more though. And Charlie Haas "puking" was just too much. It's a much better social message that WWE are sending out with Rico as a face. (Not that we should cheer gay people because, whatever, but we shouldn't tolerate homophobes). However they still have to keep it tasteful and that is what Rico isn't. Shut off the antics a bit and let the god damn wrestler wrestle.
DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I would like it better if Rico was just a clone of Adrian Street. He'll do the prancing around and stuff before the match, but when the bell rings, he becomes a ring tactician. Tactcian, I love that word. I so rarely have a chance to use it in a sentence. Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 18, 2004 SmackDown! was obviously going to milk his gimmick for all it was worth. At the moment, his abilities are taking the backseat to what is now an over-the-top gimmick - let's hope that it doesn't continue.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 First off, what the fuck is up with Rico's attire? Jesus it's embarrassing. I can't watch a match with the guy until he loses the gut, gets rid of the sideburns and gets a haircut. The character just isn't appealing to me. He can't lose the sideburns now. The sideburns ARE him, that's like saying Edge should get his hair cut and Hogan should shave his mustache. You and I both know that Rico is capable of a lot more than what was on display in that match. I won't care about the gimmick or the makeup or any of that as long as good wrestling is delivered in the ring. And that match was far below decent for what he can do. I know, but I can't do a damn thing about it except watch what was recorded. Like I said before, the match against Noble was far better. And my favorite Rico will always be the tag match with him and Miss Jackie Vs. Chris Jericho and Trish Stratus and also against Steven Richards at my house show back in Nov. (although the Sunday Night Heat match wasn't too bad in comparison, just booked differently). I mean you know its not fault they gave him a shitty gimmick, but he's trying to his damndest to make it work. I know what you're saying, but it disgusts and/or entertains the audience. He has to keep doing it to get reactions since any reaction = good. So unfortunately, more gay is better for him, its become a necessary evil. Personally, if it was up to me, I'd make him a heel again and have him go back to being the Stylist or even the Role Model again.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 What is there to really like about the match? Did Rico even do one single wrestling move the whole match?? As far as I remember all he did was feel Haas up and I don't feel like watching 5 minutes of a guy feeling up another guy.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 First off, what the fuck is up with Rico's attire? Jesus it's embarrassing. I can't watch a match with the guy until he loses the gut, gets rid of the sideburns and gets a haircut. The character just isn't appealing to me. Its his f'ing gimmick! The whole point of his gimmick is suppose to be this overly the top flamboyant (sp?) guy, so why not give him that same attire? Yes the gimmick has been done to hell and back then back to hell but it still pops the crowd. The gimmick is mainly ment to be a comedy act and yes it sucks that Haas had to be stuck in that match, but other good wrestlers will be too in the near future...through seeing Bob Holly in that match would have been funny as hell, not saying that Holly is good...nore decent for that matter, but he would have just been funny if he was up against Rico and not Haas. Ever since the origanal Gorgeous George did it wayyyyyy back when (the guy not the chick) it was a comedy act but at the same time while doing the comedy act he was good in the ring and this vicious heel, now if the same thing happen with Rico, maybe we'd be looking at it in a different way, but since its just a comedy act and since Rico is a face we won't have that. But just give it time, eventually the gimmick will most likely be pushed down to Velocity, sorry Deon but you know its true.

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Let's try to keep the profanity to a minimum. I have potty fingers, so deal with it. And the ultimate test...please give 10 reasons why people should give a shit about Rico?. 1.) He's a great wrestler when booked properly. (And don't give me that shit about only seeing his 3 minute matches, that's not my fault nor his. His OVW work blows anything he has done in the WWE out of the water anyway.) 2.) Can put on good matches and has done so in the past 3.) Nicest guy on the roster period. 4.) Always gives 110% 5.) Has love for the business 6.) Cares about the fans. 7.) Has had a great life. 8.) Is all about entertaining the audience. 9.) Has been held down, its about time he gets a push 10.) Would make a great US Champion 11.) Is trying his best to get the gimmick over. 12.) Has Jackie Gayda (what more can I say about that? ) 13.) Is not a loser since he has more televised wins that losses 14.) Beat Ric Flair clean, something Shawn Michaels has yet to do in a singles televised match 15.) And finally "You Look So Good To Me" owns you. So there, you may not like my reasons, but I gave them. He's an old guy with little time in his career. That didn't stop Ric Flair now, did it?
