Need Help with a Rap Compilation.

Recommended Posts

Well I asked Ripper for help with this but I told him that sound was more important than lyrics. So he told me that he couldn't really help me but to make a post.

So I've been making various CD's with Kazaa and I want to make a rap one. But I don't know any rap that fits my taste.

I like more melodic rap with a good background beat. And good musical flow basically.

So far I have a bunch of Outkast songs.....hmmm........any suggestions?

Mysitkal - Back that ass up

Probably a joke post anyway, but that's not by Mystikal. It's Juvenile. You probably would do well with Juvenile actually.

Any kind of rap that's popular, but a lot of people say suck will do you well. It's popular for a reason, and if it's not content, it's general flow. Nice and easy like.

But if you gain one thing from my post, it should be Juvenile.

Yes I was pointed in the direction of you IDRM.

I like some funny rap. I have a couple of Afro Man songs.

I just don't like hardcore gangster rap.....but I don't even think that exists anymore.

I don't like rappers that take themselves to seriously. Let's put it that way. I don't like rockers that do either btw.

Ok, here's some songs should be right up your alley.

Juvenile - 400 Degreez (not a big hit, but his best flow, to me), Ha (there's two famous remixes to this, all three should be fine)

Lil Wayne - Drop It Like It's Hot, Loud Pipes, Way Of Life

Keith Murray - Yeah You Know It

BG - Hennessy and XTC

Redman - Smash Sumthin

G Unit - Wanna Get to Know You (a love song, but sounds like what you want)

Mystikal - Pussy Crook, Bouncin Back

South Park Mexican - Ooh Wee

N.O.R.E. - Nothin

Two guys who you'll be safe with most any of their stuff are Ludacris and Kool Keith

What does Method Man sound like?

Wu Tang Clan but his stuff with Redman is less serious. Check out the Blackout album and the song "You"

I really liked the "blackout" album.

While you're playing around with Redman, go with "Let's Get Dirty." It's loud and stompy and very arena-rock. On the more restrained side, Talib Kweli's "Get By" has a very satisfying sound and is a fine song to boot. For a guilty pleasure with a great acoustic bounce, try Trick Daddy's "In Da Wind." It's got Big Boi from Outkast and Cee-Lo ("I'll Be Around," and all over Outkast albums) doing guest verses too.

And if you'd like a fun Jay-Z song, I'd recommend "Girls, Girls, Girls."

Trick luvs the kids.

The Foxy Brown songs are more fun. "Ain't No" and "Sunshine" and "I know what boys like"

I ask for the sweet love of god that you avoid J-Kwon like the plague. This guy has one hit wonder written all over it and the track isn't even that good after hearing it approximately 103,832 times since it became a popular tune.

If you're more into the production and not the lyrical content, that sounds like the recipe for almost anything Lil Jon has ever touched. The Diplomats (Cam'ron's group that includes Juelz Santana) is also a good source for hot beats and even some okayish lyrical substance. Since the Neptunes basically backed up Clipse on their debut, most of their songs are good in the production department. Here are a few name tracks you can check out from these guys to see if you like the general style:

- Knockin' Heads Off (Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz)

- Throw It Up (Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz)

- Bia Bia (Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz)

- Put Your Hood Up (Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz)

- Never Scared Remix (Bonecrusher, Cam'ron, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes)

- Dipset Anthem (Diplomats)

- Santana's Town (Juelz Santana)

- Virginia (Clipse)

- Grindin' (Clipse)

Keep in mind that not all of these have the commerical appeal that shit like Nelly, J-Kwon and Chingy, so if that's your cup of tea, you may not like this. I think a lot of it's underated, but that's me. If you have to get a Chingy song, get Represent, which is one of the less offensive songs I've heard from the guy. And just so the mainstreamers don't feel left out in the cold, you may wanna check out Ludacris' Blow it Out and Southern Fried, probably the only two tracks off his latest CD that I can stand.

Lil Jon's does more aggressive, club tracks than laid back easy flows. You've probably heard 'Get Low' somewhere even if you don't follow the trends. I got a retooling of that off Kazaa called 'Get Lower', which isn't the best as far as flow or production, but has some of the funniest lyrics I've heard lately, so maybe check that out.

Couple more, though you've probably got enough by now;

Trina - Pull Over (pretty damn hilarious if I say so myself)

Snoop Dogg - Pimp Slapped (really nice, smooth flow)

By the way,

"I like dem girls"

Maybe you mean 'I Like Them Hoez'? That's a good one.

I would definitely not consider that a "love song", IDRM.

This is a CD I made this week, just to help you out. Some tracks are what you are looking for, some aren't.

2: "Public Service Annoucement" by Jay -Z

3: "Wanna Get To Know You" by G-Unit

4: "All Falls Down" by Kanye West

5: "Get Em Grils" BY Cam'Ron

6: "Hotel" by Cassidy f/ R Kelly

7: "Down" by Julez Sanatana

8: "I Don't Wanna Know remix" by Mario Winans f/ Jae Hood & P Diddy

9: "Hot And Wet" By 112 f/ Ludacris & Chingy

10: "Pump It Up Remix(Freestyle?)" Joe Budden f/ Jay Z

11: "Banks Victory" By G-Unit

12: "What the Hook Gone Be" by Murphy Lee

13: "Through the Wire" By Kanye West

14: "Blow It out Your Ass" by Ludacris

15: "99 Problems" by Jay Z

16: "Smile" by Lloyd Banks

17: "No Better Love" By Young Gunz f/ Rell

18: "Fall Back" by Busta Rhymes f/ Lloyd Banks & Fabolous

19: "Slow Jamz" by Twista/Kanye f/ Kanye/Twista & Jammie Foxx*

* There are two versions of this song out, the Kanye one has a longer bridge in it, but the Twsita one has a second verse of him which gets to the point where I can't understand what he is saying. But I picked the Twista one for time reasons.

As for songs on this list that you would want:

Tracks 1-7; 8 and 9 are RnB, not really Rap; Tacks 10; 11 is more hardcore you said you didn't want; Tacks 12-17, Against 18 is more hardcore than you want; Track 19

I'm a G-Unit fan but I can absolutely not stand the laid back singles they've got out right now (Wanna Get to Know Ya and the one with Joe). They've always rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it's just because it's so different than what they do the rest of the time. And Banky, why are you disapointed at how the thread has turned out?

If you're going for msic over content, than search out the DJ's. DJ Hi Tek or Clue are my personal recommendations.
