Need Help with a Rap Compilation.

Recommended Posts

I am terribly disappointed to see how this thread turned out.

What were you expecting? Some Curtis Blow, Doug E Fresh, Mad Professor, BDP?

This is going to be pretty heavy on the G Funk style since I don't really remember a ton of hippy hop stuff that I listened to before finding musical satan.

Warren G - Regulate.

Dr. Dre - Nothin But A G Thang.

Snoop - G'z And Hustlaz

Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice

The D.O.C - Anything off his debut album. Unfortunately I don't remember offhand what it's called. But it has big Dr Dre grooves and he brings the lyricals.

Bone Thugz N' Harmony - E. 1999 Eternal, First Of The Month

BG - Bling Bling.

That's all I can think of right now. All of these will bob some heads in the summer.

If you're going for msic over content, than search out the DJ's. DJ Hi Tek or Clue are my personal recommendations.

Clue would annoy the shit out of anyone new to hip-hop. Go with Hi Tech.

Actually, I think a lot of this is just trying to come up with recommendations for Dama that fit a certain style. That said, I enjoy pretty much everything recommended so far on one level or another.

I'm a G-Unit fan but I can absolutely not stand the laid back singles they've got out right now (Wanna Get to Know Ya and the one with Joe). They've always rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it's just because it's so different than what they do the rest of the time. And Banky, why are you disapointed at how the thread has turned out?

I am pretty sure that you could thank Jimmy Ivine at Interscope for those. He likes putting out "lighter" stuff for Radio and Videos......

Anyone here a fan of Atmosphere? His new CD, Seven's Travels is pretty damn good...specific tracks that you might like are "Tryin' to Find a Balance", "Reflections", and "National Disgrace". Also, you could dig into his older stuff and pull up "Bigger Than Guns, Bigger than Cigarettes" (I can't remember the exact title, but that's probably close).

I'm a really big (shut up) Atmosphere fan. I have almost everything Slug's ever done in some form or another.

Se7en's Travel's is their worst album. It's not bad- but it doesn't touch Lucy Ford or Overcast.

Other artists from the indie set: Brother Ali, Aesop Rock, MF Doom, Soul Position, Mac Lethal...

The production is much cleaner that his other work, and, granted, I haven't looked too deeply into his catalogue, but I'm a fan of Seven's Travels.

Also, on Inc's recommendation, I picked up the Lyrics Born CD the other day and it completely blew me away. Not only that, but I've played it for my friends, and I'm yet to have someone tell me that they don't like it. Everyone has actually asked me for a copy of it, including those that don't listen to rap all that much.

Lyrics Born is one of my favorite MCs. Add the Latyrx album, and Blackalicious's "Melodica" and "Blazing Arrow" to my list as well.

You won't find it- but I think Siah and Yeshua daPO ED's "The Visuals" is the best hip-hop EP in existance.

That video pisses me off. Rather than looking like a hip-hop artist, and a good one, Slug just went all emo.

The volleyball line has some tie to Ice Cube, or so says Slug- but I don't get the reference.

Go to an Atmosphere show- you'll see more horny 15 year old girls that you can imagine. Girls fucking LOVE Slug. He looks nothing like John Cena.

Dama, Is there any specific style your looking for? If beats over lyric content, I suggest some Lil Jon or Cam'ron/Dipset they have nice production and little content. If you some laid back stuff I would recommend 9th Wonder mixes, Jutus League or the Little Brother album the group he's apart of.

Any particular tracks from these Albums that are good to download? I'm always on the lookout for any good Hip-Hop that I haven't heard of yet.
