sfaJack 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Tim Redding better get his shit together or else he's a candidate to be out of the Astros' rotation, once Pettitte gets back. Tonight: 3 2/3, 9 H, 8 R, 8 ER, and a whopping 4 HR's. His ERA is a nice, fat 10.22. On the plus side, he didn't walk anybody. 8-0 Cards, bottom 4.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Kirk Saarloos must look pretty good right about now.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Good thing the Phils are trying to cut the strikeouts. It is good to foster an environment where you have 5 one pitch outs through 5 innings.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Not really. Saarloos wasn't in the Astros' plans. Duckworth, Taylor Buckholz, or Carlos Hernandez (once he regains all the zip on his pitches) would be ahead of him. As would Jeriome Robertson, if he were still with them. Mik 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Just got back and around to checking the score. Pavano only has 49 pitches through 5 innings. He could easily go 9 if things continue to go well.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Catalanotto doubles and drives in Chris Gomez to bring the Jays within 1.

Duckworth, Taylor Buckholz, or Carlos Hernandez (once he regains all the zip on his pitches) would be ahead of him. As would Jeriome Robertson, if he were still with them. The Astros didn't rate him highly, and that's the point. I think Saarloos is better than any of the four. Hernandez might be better, but he's not ready yet. Mik 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Anyone watching Phillies/Marlins? Looking on the gamecast they have called strike 3 on Ramon Castro out of the strike box low. Was it a strike or was it a bad call?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I didn't see it too closely. I think it was on the border.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 4-1 Phillies. Who the hell taught the Marlins how to field?
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 It certainly seems that things have fallen apart. Didn't the Marlins have the highest (or at least one of) field percentage last year?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 5-1 Phillies. Too bad the Marlins are 14th in the NL in hitting. Well, there's always tomorrow. Hopefully the Marlins can score a run to give Billy Wagner an excuse to enter the game.
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Castro striking out with the bases loaded is now magnified by 1000x percent.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Personally I'm surprised to see the L.A. Dodgers doing so well, excluding last night's game. I doubt the Giants win the West.
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 HR Lowell. 5-5 in Philly. Never sleep on the Marlins, especially when they are playing their personal manservants.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Shit. Game tied at 5. Personally I'm surprised to see the L.A. Dodgers doing so well, excluding last night's game. I doubt the Giants win the West. Check their runs scored/runs allowed. They're the biggest overachievers in baseball.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 If Anglesault thinks being a Yankees fan is bad, he should try being a Phillies fan. David Bells throws the third out into the stands, and the Marlins follow up with five runs.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Philly fans show support for forward thinking, sabermetric concepts towards bullpen usage with "We want Wagner!" chants.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 I was watching King of Queens but flipped over to the game just in time to see Lowell take one out of the park. Watching him up there, I just got the feeling he'd take it out. I don't like the Marlins, but seeing Phillies fans go apeshit is just something I take a sick pleasure in. Sorry, Al. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Javy Lopez gets a hit up the middle with 2 outs to extend his hit streak to 16 games. However, the game is over as Gibbons strikes out.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 While I'm waiting for the pitching change, a look at some other games..... -A-Rod came alive, tying the game with a home run in the 6th. The Sox and Yankees are tied at one. -Adam LaRoche hit his first career home run. -Tigers lead Twins 11-4 in the 5th. Minnesota's 6 game winning streak may be over.
