Hard Rock/Metal New Rocord Sales figures..

DROWNING POOL's sophomore album, "Desensitized", sold 42,425 copies during its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan, to debut at position No. 17 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. FEAR FACTORY's "Archetype", the group's first CD since the departure of founding member Dino Cazares and their first album for new label Liquid 8 Records, shifted 31,898 copies to land at No. 30. Meanwhile, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's "Hangover Music Vol. VI" sold 24,345 in its first week of release to debut at No. 40, while MACHINE HEAD's "Through the Ashes of Empires" — an album that has been available on import since late October — registered a first-week sales tally of 11,420, around a thousand copies more than its predecessor, "Supercharger", did back in October 2001.

Awesome list. I'll have to keep going to Blabbermouth if they post this weekly.

 

The new Drowning Pool is just so radically different from the first, and I don't like what they've turned into. If I'm going to listen to a mediocre nu metal band, I like the lyrics angry (but not too much), angst-filled, etc. The new DP just strikes me as more of a "If you mess with me, I'll fuck you up," rather than "I'll be pissed if you mess with me."

 

While I have to listen to it a few more times to formulate an exact opinion, it's not looking well.

It's a shame that Drowning Pool and Fear Factory are selling more albums and getting more attention payed to them than Black Label Society.

I've heard some of the new songs of all of those bands on Uranium, and the only ones worth listening to were Black Label Society and surprisingly, the new Fear Factory song was decent. Who knows about the CD, though...

It's a shame that Drowning Pool and Fear Factory are selling more albums and getting more attention payed to them than Black Label Society.

I was contemplating picking up the new Fear Factory when it was dirt cheap at Best Buy, but I passed for not knowing what to expect and knowing that it wouldn't get played that much. The reason why BLS didn't fair as well as the others is that they just aren't getting the same record label promotion/support for the redebut of DP with their new singer and FF's return album. Retailers would rather promote those two types of event records as opposed to a concept album.

 

Also, take into account that Soundscan does not reflect independent and smaller record store sales. I definitely think that would add to BLS'* total.

Drowning pool wasnt any good when Dave was alive and in the band..and they arent any good now. I remembering them butchering Creeping Death at Ozzfest a few years back...it was terrible..

 

 

As someone said earlier its sad that Drowning Pool sold more records the first week then BLS, FF, and Machine Head...

 

The new Machine Head cd is really good by the way, and the new BLS while not a usual Zakk Wylde riff fest is quite good as well....

They weren't great, but at least it was catchy, and they were making music (minus "Bodies") that actually had meaning to it; even if the meanings attached to the songs were just the ol' teenage angst type shit.

 

The new album is just all around meh.
