Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I like the Doc. We'll see if he can handle the Celtics.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Wow. I bet Ainge just considered Westphal just so he could say "we found someone better" to his former coach. Good for Doc...
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I like Doc as a coach, but the Celts need more talent if they hope to go anywhere. So far, I don't like any of the moves Danny Ainge has made, especially when they got rid of Eric Williams and Tony Battie. Those guys were good role players. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Good for Doc. I was angered about how he got shafted in Orlando and I'm happy to see him working again.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I was almost certain Ainge would name himself coach. I applaud him for keeping his ego in check.

LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I have been a life-long Celtics fan and Danny Ainge's antics pain me. I like Doc, I think he'll be good, but I think all Celtics fans were looking for Westphal. Granted, he'd have to have the talent to do what he did in Phoenix, but Ainge continues to break tradition. Westphal is a former Celtic, it all would've fit nicely. They even rumored Dennis Johnson, another Celtic. We get someone, although good, out of the blue. It sounds like he did it for shock value again and he is completely wreckless. He traded Antoine Walker as part of a rebuilding process when they were one of the few credible Eastern teams. Then they squeaked into the playoffs through a combination of how horrible the East is and how dedicated Paul Pierce has remained to be. I am still waiting for the day Ainge will get axed. The Celts were just recovering from screwing up and giving Pitino the job Larry Bird should've had. Now look at the Pacers, where Bird went and is again now. Guest JohnnySwift Report post Posted April 29, 2004 (edited) I'll give Ainge credit for not naming himself coach, as a Celtics fan I still don't like him much. Who do you guys think he's going to take in the draft? I forget where I read this but some site had a fantasy NBA draft and they had Ainge taking 3 high schoolers, one point guard one forward and I forget the third. As for 5-15 start, I think that's being optimistic unless Ainge makes some SMART decisions in the offseason. Edit: The site is nbadraft.net Edited April 29, 2004 by JohnnySwift
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I like nbadraft.net, but you should wait and check back after the lottery. Then you'll get a better gauge on who will be drafted where. For example, even if the Wizards got the third pick, why would they take Shaun Livingston when their best player plays the same position? And is it me or is there a ridiculous amount of Euros in this year's draft?

I'd be glad to see a 20% ratio of people in the draft who were seniors in college but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
