When Baltimore signed Tejada he spoke on it saying Oakland was going to suffer not only from losing his leadership but also because the scouts he spoke to said Crosby was 1 more year away from the bigs in terms of being ready. I think the "Shannon Stewart for MVP" campaign is a good indicator that Jayson Starks is full of shit. Its worth noting that Crosby is still outhitting Rich Aurilia and Derek Jeter. How is Starks full of shit for writing what scouts told him about Crosby? Derek Jeter is in probably the biggest slump of his career, and Rich Aurillia has proven he was a one year wonder. He's definitely not looking like starter material, but then again, he'll be pen-bound once Prior returns. And Bobby Cox just pulled a Dusty Baker, leaving Russ Ortiz in for 133 pitches, only pulling him after he loaded the bases. The reliever walked in the go-ahead run, by the way. fairtoflair7 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Good Game at Shea today....Mets blew a 3-1 lead in the 8th and the Brew Crew led 5-3 going to the bottom but once again pitchers are scared to throw to Piazza so he got walked and Wiggington singled home 2 runs when Jae Seo, a pitcher who was pitch running for Piazza did a wacky head-first slide just beating out the tag. Turns out in the 11th that struggling Kaz Matsui gets the game winning double Also to note: Dave Burba must have made the weirdest pitch I've ever seen. He like was about to throw the ball but tripped and it was called a balk which was key at the time because it moved the runner from 1/2 to 2/3 in the 8th so Ty could single them home..... Thank God they won that game; would have been tough to take a loss in a game like that. Thank God also for the off day tomorrow. They definitely need it after today. The way he's been swinging, I thought that may be caught but nope. Pretty much makes up for his poor performance today and ending the game yesterday with a strikeout. Dusty must have known they'd walk Jackson, which was the only reason he let Rusch bunt for himself instead of letting Hollandsworth swing away and perhaps hit a homerun.
