50 carries in one NFL game -- It's been done in college; Chris Perry had 51 against Michigan State last year. You'd have to be a straight-up "hoss" to do it in the NFL, though. Of the active backs, I could see Jamal Lewis, Corey Dillon (when he's fully healthy), Ahman Green, Ricky Williams or LaDanian Tomlinson doing it.

Gretzky got to 92, I think.

 

100/100 is practically impossible, as you can have one star on your team, but he needs a lot of go-to guys around him to get the 100A. The +/-50 has almost been done.

 

And yes, if someone got a GAA under 1.00, it would be ridiculous.

I think in the current way the game is played, we won't see figures of 50+ goals for a long time. Besides Gretsky was untouchable in the heyday, if any defensemen even touched him they knew they'd get smashed later in the game or in a return match.

 

I think the 100/100 is a possibility, Gretsky got within touching distance of it, so when the next super-hyper-mega star comes to the forefront it may well happen.

 

I'd personally like to see British Ice Hockey rise again...but it won't.

Iginla (with a few more weapons)

Heatley (when healthy)

St. Louis

 

Any of those players have the skills to do it, and are going to be stars for a long time to come.

They'd have to average 318 yds/game, which is pretty tough to do. Marino had 5084, and I think the next closest was Kurt Warner at 4830 during his big year w/ the Rams. Even the TD mark would be tough, as Marino had 48, meaning someone would have to average 3 TD/game just to tie the mark. Next closest was Marino again at 44, then Warner at 43.

As for me, I'd like to see another 30-win season. I'd like to see a starter with a sub-2.00 ERA over a full season. I'd like to see a player get 200 points in a season in this era of the NHL. I'd like to see someone (read: JAMAL~!) rush for at least 2200 yards. And I'd like to see another Orioles World Series win before I go blind and die.

How about an entire episode of SC where the hosts DON'T trot out lame nicknames and catchphrases every 2 minutes?

 

It seems even less likely than a guy hitting .500 (which should be the baseline for a "good" hitter --- if you get hits less than half of the time, how can you be called "good"?)

Tell me why, Ripper. Because, correct me if I'm wrong, but the original record being desired was RETIRING UNDEFEATED WITHOUT LOSING - AND THEN STAYING RETIRED. Louis was undefeated, and then un-retired, and then lost. Meaning, he didn't set the record being sought. Speaking of losing confidence, I'm losing confidence in your ability to recognize those facts. I'll readily admit that Louis, in his prime, was probably better than Marciano, in his prime. But that doesn't mean that we can right revisionist history and pretend that Louis didn't lose.

How can you not have seen Coming to America. One of the greatest comedies I have ever seen. Just the number of past and future stars who had supporting roles in that movie makes it worth watching today.

 

James Earl Jones, Eric Lasale( of E.R. fame), Samuel L. Jackson, Louie Anderson, Arsenio Hall, John Amos(Good Times and Die Hard 2), and the two old men from Trading Places that they broke in a great cameo as homeless men all have roles in that movie. Anyone over the age of ten must see COming to America before they die.

 

 

Now back to the subject, if Culpepper can stay healthy for a full year and Randy Moss comes to play in about 75 percent of the games some passing and recieving records have a shot at falling this year. With Marcus Robinson giving him another deep threat Culpepper will put up some huge numbers if everyone is healthy, and it will be alot harder to double team Moss every play with a good speed reciever across from him.
