Guest Astro Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Big stars to work show in Japan.... Goldberg has pulled out of his scheduled match against Toshiaki Kawada at the 5/8 HUSTLE-3 event in Yokohama, Japan. Goldberg apparently pulled out due to some sort of injury. He will be replaced in the match by Mick Foley, who will be returning to wrestle in Japan for the first time since 1996. Foley is already in Japan getting ready for the match. He is not currently under WWE contract which is why he is able to work in Japan. Kevin Nash & Scott Hall are also set to work the event. They will face Shinya Hashimoto and Naoya Ogawa. This is the first time the Outsiders will work in Japan since the height of the nWo's popularity years ago. ---------- WWE is reporting that Backlash did 280,000 buys, down from 350,000 buys last year and 400,000 buys in 2002. WWE was expecting a higher number of buys for the show following the strong WrestleMania XX buys. ---------- In an interview with the Winnipeg Sun, Eric Bischoff says that he hardly even remembers being such extreme rivals with Vince McMahon during his days as head of WCW. "It's been almost two years since I started working for WWE and quite honestly I forget that Vince and I were ever rivals to the extent that we were -- only when I'm asked about it." - Eddie Guerrero's mother really did feel lightheaded and dizzy following her involvement in an angle with John Bradshaw Layfield at the Sunday house show in El Paso. She did feel better shortly after though. - Ric Flair missed RAW on Monday due to the birth of his grandson over the weekend.
ChrisMWaters Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 FLAIR'S A GRANDPAPPY! ...Wait, has he been one already, or is this his first grandchild?
Superstring Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Foley v. Kawada? Holy shit. Why's that such a big deal? I just don't know any of the Jap wrestlers so is Kawada a big star over there or something? 100 posts - and it only took 7 months!
TheFranchise Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Why's that such a big deal? I just don't know any of the Jap wrestlers so is Kawada a big star over there or something? Pair that name with Misawa and see the people of TSM hand out the *'s.

Guest Salacious Crumb Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Kawada is the biggest star All Japan has right now. While he's nowhere near as good as he used to be, mostly due to injuries and lack of motivation, he still kicks a great deal of ass in the ring.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Kevin Nash & Scott Hall are also set to work the event. They will face Shinya Hashimoto and Naoya Ogawa. This is the first time the Outsiders will work in Japan since the height of the nWo's popularity years ago. This has to be an early contender for Worst Match of the Year.
Guest duck420 Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 i just want to see scott hall no matter how bad he wresltes

Lil' Bitch Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 - Ric Flair missed RAW on Monday due to the birth of his grandson over the weekend. Awe, congrats to Flair.

Er... since when did Kawada start using a lariat as a finisher?
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I think he is assuming all japanese wrestlers use lariats....a lot.
Vyce Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I'll giggle with glee if Kawada puts Foley in the Stretch Plum. Kawada v. Foley - much like last fall's Chono v. Hogan, I may have to get the tape of this just to see what kind of weird dynamic is developed.
Guest Astro Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 so who had the kid? did reid knock up his 16 year old gf? /just like daddy
JustJoe2k5 Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Mick Foley will atleast be able to make Toshiaki Kawada look like a threat again. I shudder to think what the match would've been like with Bill Goldberg.
Guest ManKinnd Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Is Foley officially "un-retired" or what?
Dobbs 3K Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 I remember having a tape where Cactus Jack wrestled Kawada in the early '90s in All Japan. Kawada won.
EdwardKnoxII Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 i just want to see scott hall no matter how bad he wresltes A drunk Scott Hall trying to wrestle is ten times better wrestler then Nash could ever hope to be.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 - Eddie Guerrero's mother really did feel lightheaded and dizzy following her involvement in an angle with John Bradshaw Layfield at the Sunday house show in El Paso. She did feel better shortly after though. WARNING: These same symptoms may come to you if watching the main event to Judgement Day.

She did feel better shortly after though. WARNING: These same symptoms may come to you if watching the entire Judgement Day card. Edited for accuracy. NOTHING, and I repeat, nothing on the card (all 3 matches) looks interesting. AND I BOUGHT ARMAGEDDON LAST YEAR! (Kane mark). As for Foley, I guess he's a semi-active wrestler, like Hulk Hogan has been in the last few years. Wrestle a match or two, leave, or just talk for 3 months, lather rinse repeat.
Guest M. Harry Smilac Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 i just want to see scott hall no matter how bad he wresltes Me too and damn hall looks almost not like himself with blonde hair

HHH/HBK/Orton/Foley were involved in the top of that card as well.... But the show was built around Benoit's return home, and attempt to beat the odds. As was pointed out in the thread where the WWE said they predicted an unusually high buyrate for it. Interesting how that works, no?

Show was built more around Foley's return and the Final Encounter than Benoit as a single person, genius.

He was the Champ and looked strong pretty much the whole month. He takes the blame for the buyrate, Foley/Orton was just the semi-main. Next time bring facts instead of limp-wristed insults, Tawren.
