Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 It's all about Fable I don't think it'll be as good as everyone raves about, honestly. It'll be good, but not much better than any other RPG out there. I'm almost getting a Neverwinter Nights feeling out of this game. Which means it'll fall short.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 7, 2004 Suikoden IV looks good, but I fucking hate prequels, so it'll take a lot to appease me.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 game lineup Damn, E3 looks pretty good this year. I can't wait to see screens/movies of Bebop, Inuyasha, Leisure Suit Larry, The Shield and MK Deception. The DS and moreso the PSP have also got a lot of my intrest. With KOTOR2 announced as well I think next year will be a good one.

Meh. It seemed easier than picking out a top five or ten. I'm interested in the Bebop and Inuyasha games, but I don't have my hopes up too high. If they were smart, they'd 'borrow' the Max Payne engine for Bebop, of course with a dogfight in space here and there. Most of all I'm interested in DJV2 and the Nintendo offerings. I'm guessing Nintendo's rumoured 'surprise' is a new Mario or, although it's probably a longshot, the announcement of the next console.

Jer 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 I'm far and away most interested in Tekken 5. Most of the rest of the stuff I'm interested in isn't new, but it'll be nice to see how MGS3 and GT4 are coming along. Suikoden 4 should be cool too, and maybe Guilty Gear Isuka. But yeah, really I'm just looking forward to seeing what T5 will be like.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 *Sigh* Look at all the freakin' sequels. What happened to originality in gaming? "Cowboy Bebop (PS2)" Hmm...just how does one make Bebop into a game, let alone a good one?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 (edited) Andrew haven't you realized by now that to make a game of a series (be it whatever), you must make the game be a connection to the series, but not actual appart of the series. Like it'll be about some minor character with all the Bebop characters doing cameos and the Bebop Universe. That's about all. I'm beginning to wonder what the hell Sega and Nintendo's huge blockbuster surprise is. I'm also expecting a few games that aren't listed on here to show up, like Phantom Brave for example. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2004 I only really looking forward to the new Mortal Kombat game, Tekken 5 and Metal Gear 3. Konami should be well into the development of MGS3, so I can't wait to see what they have to offer. UYI
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2004 I only really looking forward to the new Mortal Kombat game, Tekken 5 and Metal Gear 3. And this is why we have such a dearth of creativity in the video game industry. That and the fact that this list is so freakin' heavy on sequels.
El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2004 Looking at this list, I've noticed something. I hate most multiplatform games. Call of Duty is great on the PC, but if the Xbox version's scaled down to run on the PS2 as well, it's going to suck. To me, the Spinter Cell method of doing things (Superior verison first, inferior version later) is better than the EA-style method of doing things. (dumbed down to fit on all consoles with as little work as possible)
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Day one .. Aside from the Nintendo DS being unveiled, there was also a brief look at a new "realistic" Zelda game. From IGN: May 11, 2004 - It's been four long years since Nintendo unveiled its Space World 2000 demo of Legend of Zelda. The realistic take on the action-adventure franchise, which showcased a brief fight sequence between an older, meaner Link and a downright evil looking Gannondorf, was shelved less than a year after its unveiling so that Nintendo could instead pursue the cel-shaded Wind Waker style. But Nintendo fans never forgot about that brief trailer that showed so much promise. And, as it turns out, neither did Nintendo. Today at its pre-E3 event in Los Angeles, Nintendo dropped a earth-shaking bomb. Not only has it secretly been working on a brand new Legend of Zelda title inspired by its famous Space World 2000 demo, but the game is very far along and looks absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. As the lights dimmed and the brief trailer for the game rolled, press on hand seemed unsure about what to expect. But when the music kicked in -- an homage to the 1998 Ocarina of Time movie spot -- the crowd went wild. (The new Legend of Zelda trailer actually features the same song from composer Basil Poledouris, who orchestrated Conan The Barbarian.) What followed was an awe-inspiring display of cutting-edge graphics and an overall crowd reaction that approached a pure state of euphoria. The footage showcased a detailed adult Link as he rode his horse across an expansive Hyrule, did battle with a number of different enemy types including a Moblin, Bokoblins and multiple Lizalfos. In one stunning scene, the sun set as dark riders advanced over the horizon. In another, Link battled against a gigantic fire boss. He also explored the forest, seemed to solve puzzles in a dungeon and more. The visuals, featuring what is hands-down the best Link model ever designed and a host of impressive technical feats such as advanced lighting and shadow effects, crisp textures, and impressive draw distance, to name a few, made Nintendo fans' eyes roll in their heads. After the display ended and the crowd settled, Nintendo designer and director Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage, with Master Sword and shield in hand, and addressed lucky attendees. "I am not Link, but I do know him!" he joked. "Even after 18 years the Legend of Zelda never stops changing and this game is no different. We are now taking you to a world where Link has grown up -- a world where he will act different and look different. In order to grow, Link must not stand still and neither will I. Thank you and goodbye." With a few more sword swings, Miyamoto stepped off the stage. The game, simply titled Legend of Zelda (and not Wind Waker 2), is set for release on GameCube sometime next year. OMG!

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 What weird universe is this that we are getting granted our wishes? Supposedly Nintendo's theme for E3 is "we listen to the fans" or something like that. Which gives some solidity to the rumors that the Surprise is that Nintendo will have some sort of online plan unvieled for the Gamecube.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Well, if they were unveiling an online plan, they probably would have said something during their press conference, so I'd guess not. Still, I'm honestly shocked by this new Zelda. As much of a Nintendo fan as I am, this is the first time in a long time that I can say I'm actually really pleasantly surprised by something they've done. I can't remember the last time they did something where it made me say, "My God, they're doing exactly the right thing", but this did it.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 The new Zelda definitely is probably the biggest surprise on my list and frankly, the game I'm not wanting to play. Right away. GIMME NINTENDO!
Guest SpiderFan Report post Posted May 11, 2004 The new Zelda looks sweet. Spider-Man 2 is my most anticipated game. They've recreated most of Manhatten and you can go anywhere you see at any point in the game. Everything is interactable as well, from flag poles to lamp posts. You can hang criminals from the lamp posts, too. They've mproved the web swinging too, so you now have free control over where you aim the next shot, and you have to hit a building to swing. No more swinging from air. And they've worked on combat, so that there are alot more combo's, and your spider-sense actually plays a part in letting you dodge attacks. Dodges will also have special animations, like, if you are on top of a car, and a thug shoots at you through the roof, you'll backflip to the trunk. Random crimes will also happen all around the city, and if you stop them, you get 'hero points' which you can use to buy unlockables from comic shops located around the city. All of that in one game = greatest Spider-Man game, ever. Halo 2 should be good too...if the thing ever comes out. Same goes for Fable.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Spiderman 2 does look awesome. I'm just happy that XBox Live and EA became officially official. I believe that Halo 2 will make its November 9th date...and I fear that Fable will continue to slip.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I fear that Fable will continue to slip. Fable's not going to slip, but be remembered as a game that could've would've should've in the industry. It'll do somethings right, but be flawed in totally giving people what they want. I really want to buy into Fable's glory. Much like how I was hooked into Mythri coming out (which apparently is never now ), so I'm quite sure my disappointment will be met here, except I'll actually see Fable.
