Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 10, 2004 JB: Though they say it's not a done deal just yet, IGN FilmForce is confirming that wrestler-actor Paul Michael Levesque, a.k.a. Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a.k.a. Triple H, a.k.a. The Game will be the next Conan in Warner Bros.' KING CONAN: CROWN OF IRON. Director John Milius who cast Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1982's CONAN THE BARBARIAN hand picked the wrestler to be the man and IGN recieved word that the Govenator has given the story and actor the thumbs up. If you have doubts about Triple H's acting abilities you'll be able to check him out as Grimwood in David Goyer's BLADE: TRINITY on December 10th. There's no word on when production on the new CONAN film will start. Triple H was a long time second fiddle in the ranks of the WWE until his hard work and career threatening injuries paid off a few years ago by becoming the heavyweight champion. He also just happens to be married to the company's owner, Vince McMahon's daughter, Stephanie. I doubt the role will lead to the incredibly successful career Schwarzenegger enjoyed but with an already huge wrestling fan base, look for Triple H's popularity to soar, joining The Rock in attempt to lead a new generation of action stars. Ashton Kutcher as Superman? Elisha Cuthbert as Lois Lane? Will Ferrell as Lex Luthor?! Could this be the cast WB is looking at for SUPERMAN? According to a scooper for Ain't It Cool News, those are some of the names currently attached to the project. The scooper, a WB employee, stumbled on the secret SUPERMAN headquarters on the studio lot and found a bunch of conceptual art, storyboards and casting auditions in the room. Under each character name there were a list of actors including Cuthbert, Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson as Lois Lane and Ferrell, Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey, Jr. as Lex Luthor. And what about Sean Penn as Kata-Zor and Ben Kingsley as his brother Jor-El? Very...interesting suggestions to say the least. Will Ferrell as Luthor is certainly the most bizarre casting suggestion I've heard in some time. I love Ferrell and I think he's one of the funniest guys working in film today but Lex Luthor? I dunno... I feel the same way about Elisha Cuthbert. Beautiful girl, liked GIRL NEXT DOOR, but I just can't buy her as Lois Lane. For more on casting and a description of Superman's cousin (and film villain) Ty-Zor and his costume. The film still seems like it's on the shelf and not really in active development so it may be some time before any version of SUPERMAN gets off the ground. Take that for what its worth. Guest Fook Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Is there any superhero role that Ashton Kutcher hasn't been considered for? At this rate, I fully expect him to pop up as someone like Archangel in X3.

Guest JMA Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Ugh. Ashton Kutcher is SO wrong for the role of Superman. First of all, he looks NOTHING like the character. Second, there is a stigma attached to Kutcher of being a clueless putz. Third, I don't think he can effectively pull off the role. Can't the WB find another way to suck in the teen audience without casting someone like Kutcher? As for the other casting ideas, they really have no fucking idea what they're doing. They especially need to drop all the created characters from that aborted Superman script. I could see Depp being a good Luthor, but the other choices are just way out there. Guest netslob Report post Posted May 11, 2004 actaully, that's not a bad idea. he could pass as Olsen. then they should get the guy who plays Red on 'That 70's Show' to play Luthor. he's got the hairline.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I'd prefer Kutcher finally do "Dude, Where's My Car? 2" already. Since Trips is the "Cerebral Assassin," does this mean this version of Conan will be more like Ator, and be a chemist/surgeon/inventor/warrior?

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Fuck Tom Welling...the whole notion that the Smallville cast should do the big screen movie is misguided at best. At least Ashton would look older than 16. I say Brendan Fraser as Superman. There was someone else I also liked in the role, but I can't recall who it was. Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Nicolas Cage is past Superman. Unless they want to fuck it up and make it comedic, casting Ashton Kutcher as Superman would have to be the worst idea since Greedo shooting first. As for Elisha - she'd do fine if she died her hair. By the time a 2nd Superman movie would be made Fraser would be about 40 years old or older. People would then complain he'd be too old to conitnue on in any sequels. With Welling you have youth as well as the closest look to Supes that I've seen anyone else have barring bringing in some unknown to play him (no one has the big blue eyes that Supes has except Welling which is also a trait that Christopher Reeves had and he *looked* like the character come to life). Who else did you have in mind besides Fraser?
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Shows how much I've kept up with this project. I thought it was confirmed that Matthew McConaughey would be Superman, which would then lead into the Batman/Superman films joining together as once in the next few years, reuniting Christian Bale and McConaughey once again. Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I don't know how wise it would be to cast Fraser as Superman - not unlike Kutcher, they're best known for their comedic roles. It wouldn't want to end up like The Butterfly Effect.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 It's freakin Superman! I'm sorry, but was Tobey Maguire REALLY that big name of an actor?? This is why the WB just plain SUCKS at making comic book movies 90% of the time. You don't need a big name, you need someone with the look who can act. Look at the current projects: Christian Bale as Batman, known but not big name Tobey Maguire as Spiderman, was known but not big Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, wasn't known in the states period Thomas Jane as Punisher, not known well The biggest mistake these series make is going for a name who can't act or just doesn't fit. See, George Clooney as Batman or Nic Cage as Superman (right, are you kidding? Maybe as the villian). The only except to the rules is if the character is not well known. "Blade" needed a big name. "Daredevil" needed big names. "Superman" does not need a big name. It needs a damn actor with the look. Kutcher can't act unless Superman is a moron who will yell "PUNK'D" at Luthor. LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I'd rather see something fresh like a Green Lantern movie than another Superman movie, especially with the casting. Superman is probably a bigger cash draw, but mostly anything super hero has been successful lately and I could see something like a movie about "The Flash" doing well. IMO, SM IV falls into that "so-bad-it's-kinda-good, in-a-bad-sort-of-way" category. Whereas any Superman movie with Ashton as Kal-El would just be awful all around. Who else did you have in mind besides Fraser? Thank you. Welling IS Superman he's got the look and he can act the part. Well the hell the WB doesn't make a Smallville movie I'll never know. They have the movie came out the end of the 5th season and then have it spin off into a Superman series. The only problem is that when Clark does become Superman how in the hell is he going to do that with all the weird shit that has gone on in the town? If he goes out there in the Super suit and someone like Chole or Lex doesn't spot that it's Clark the minute he shows up something is fucked up.

Yeah with today's effects I would kill to see a GL or Flash movie on the big screen then another Superman movie unless it's with the Smallville cast but, WB being the dumbasses that they are just want to do Batman or Superman and I know alot people are sick of them. It's hard to believe that at one time DC was the one making the big screen hero movies while Marvel couldn't get a decent, money making movie to save their lives. Man how times have change.
