Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted May 11, 2004 http://p076.ezboard.com/fwrestlecrap42390f...opicID=63.topic John Tenta Thank you for your support - this is my illness "Ever since I've started posting on this board I've felt that I was among friends. Everyone has been courteous, and even protective of me. I appreciate that. Well my friends, I am not just "sick", I have been diagnosed with advanced bladder cancer. I have a large tumor on my bladder blocking my left kidney from functioning properly. That is the bad news. The good news is that I will never give up my hope of beating this. I have too much to live for. I love my family, and plan to walk my daughter down the aisle in 10 years(or more), and plan on being at my son's first major league baseball game(in about 10 years when his dream comes true). I have a strong faith in God but know whatever He has planned for me I must follow. Because of my faith, I am not afraid to die, but I don't want to die. This, of course will now be the biggest battle EVER in my life, but I am not afraid. I will be going through testing this week, and starting chemo/radiation soon after that. I do not feel like I'm dying, and thus, refuse to believe that I will. People have had cancer for years before finding out, and still survived. I am a little uncomfortable but not in pain leading me to believe I am a lot stronger than my illness. If you believe in God, please pray for me, and my family, and if you do not, just wish me well. Of course I will not be answering any questions from now on until i am feeling better. I am a "tough guy" and won't go without a heck of a fight. I wish you all well, and as I've said before, and now it's truer than ever- Crap happens!"
ISportsFan 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 That's really sad, since I have always liked Tenta. He was never a good worker by any means, but he always seemed to work hard. It's also really sad because he's a human being and I hate it when humans get sick like this. Hopefully he can pull through. I'll be praying for him. To Arnold_OldSchool: Next time, when you post on this board, you might as well have put Tenta's name in the subject line. It's not a spoiler, and it's not going to make people click on it more or less when you don't list who it is. Especially when it's a sensitive subject like cancer, that subject line makes it seem like you care more about getting people to click on your topic than getting news out that Tenta has a sickness. Just saying, is all, because I take cancer and illnesses such as this very seriously, and something like this subject line seems to make it like you are just looking for the satisfaction of getting people to click inside to get the latest scoop. Sorry for veering off topic for that, especially because this is such a sad story so far, but it's something I can't stand when illnesses and such are being discussed. Once again, get well John. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Man, that really sucks. I hope you get better, Earthquake. I will never forget you trying to kill Hulkamania.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 My God that is horribly sad. Say what you will, but I've always liked the guy for some reason, all the way back to the days of when he was first Earthquake. Get well soon John!
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I always thought Tenta was one of the more entertaining big men workers of the time. His match with Hogan at Summerslam 1990 is surprisingly decent. And this couldn't happen to a nicer guy...I really hope he beats it.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I'll always remember Jimmy Hart "randomly" picking him from the audience for the Ultimate Warrior push up challenge. Tenta entertained me before I cared about workrates and such. He probably wouldn't as much now, but he was great back in the day.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Hey, I like big John as much as the next guy, but this really should be in General Wrestling.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Embracing the Wrestlecrap website like he did (and when he did) made me a fan of his. I'm sending out my well wishes and prayers to John and his family.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Gotta love a guy in THIS business that never really took himself too seriously. Good luck and best wishes to him and his family.
DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 That's a terrible thing to happen, especially to a guy who seems as nice as John Tenta. Here's hoping that the big man wins this battle.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 John is a great guy. Look at the way he did an interview on wrestlecrap.com and wrote something in the book. He was not shy in making fun of himself and he always tried hard no matter no silly the gimmick (like shark, where he spent a whole day having his tiger tattoo changed to something resembling a shairk, only to have the gimmick dropped) or even golga. Get well soon John.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Wow. That's horrible news. I've always been kind of a fan of his, and from the stuff you hear of him and see of him, he seems to be a genuine nice guy, which is sadly a rare thing in this business. So it's saddening to hear this...and of course, I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 13, 2004 I'm not gonna say I always like Tenta's in ring skills. I did enjoy him in WWF, but once WCW got a hold of him they just completely fucked him over. (raises fist at sky, cursing out Eric Bischoff). GWS.
