I don't think anyone here knows me, (you probably don't unless you read Bob Barron's SNL threads) but I felt like writing this so I hope you'll endulge me.

Yesterday morning my Grandmother (on my mother's side) passed away in her sleep at the age of 84. She was very frail the last several years, so we may have been prepared for it mentaly, but it's still tough.

I was lucky enough to reach the age of 24 and still have all four of my Grandparents around, so I've never lost anyone this close before.

My family is doing well, were all just helping my Grandfather get through this. They were married for 62 years and I can't imagine the pain he's going through right now.

I know my family is going to help each other through this.

I know this is cliched, but everyone should really let your loved ones know you love them and how much they mean to you.

Dude, I lost both my grandparents in the last 3 years and they were the only set I had. I feel your pain, it does get better with time. Take it one day at a time and remember when your upset that there are plenty of people out there who never met their grandparents. Also, remember this......memories last forever.

good luck to you and my condolences.

my condolences. My maternal grandparents are both 83 and over the last year or two have really started to worsen healthwise.

it meant a lot

Why?

Speaking for myself I probably spend more time talking to certain posters here than I do to most of my family.

These may be just people on the internet but when you look at all the people who've hooked up over the net, etc. It doesn't seem so strange.

We all spend alot of time reading posts by other members and for some of us it starts to feel like we're all part of an extended community.

Or something.

Don't make me get sentimental CWM. I too feel a weird sort of connection, camaraderie with my fellow TSMers. Though we're of different ages, countries, education levels, financial backgrounds, and so, we're all on the same page here. Mod powers notwithstanding, everybody's on the same level here, and I think that's really neat.

...I'm not a Communist.

My condolences, MDH. I lost my grandfather five years ago and that really hit me hard. I can't imagine life without my two grandmothers who have always been at all my various events, and overall a very very integral part of my life.

Please...I'm many levels above most of you. I'm ESTABLISHED.

I lost both of my Dad's folks in the past year. It's shitty. By the time they passed, they weren't the people I remembered at all. Just gotta think about the good stuff.

note the word "former"

Just to keep on subject, I never really knew any of my grandparents. One died well before I was ever born, and the other three have been dead for over a decade now

Even though I knew I wasn't alone in having this expierience, it was still nice to read those messages and have it confirmed. That's what I meant.

I'm sorry to read about your loss. I just want you to know she's in a better place now and she lived a good long life.
