GREAT NIGHT

At the same time Johnson takes the Braves out with a perfect game...the METS once again come back in their last at bat to win again 5-4 agains the CARDS. This is a clutch team and as long as they can play .500 ball, they can hang around until Reyes is healthy

SCREW the Braves!!

I just love how Skip Caray said something like "fans getting into this one" in a rather flat tone...almost as if he thought there's something wrong with cheering the opposing pitcher for THAT.

Hell, if you can't appreciate that kind of effort or realize the history you're witnessing, you aren't a baseball fan.

He breaks Cy Young's record as the oldest pitcher to ever throw a perfect, almost 100 years to the day of Young's perfect game (May 5, 1904). Amazing.

BWAHAHAHAHA.

There is. No matter how badly your team is doing, you shouldn't root for them to be embarassed.

It's not rooting for them to be embarrassed. It's giving a guy his due for having an amazing night. This is what, the 16th perfect game in history? You don't get much more historical than that.

Hell, I hate the Yankees, but I was pulling hard in the final innings for David Cone when he tossed his a few years ago.

And I'd do the same if someone did it to the Cubs.

I feel good for a non-Yankee.

I'm growing soft.

by a non-yankee that bitchslapped you in the World Series a couple years ago.

As a baseball fan, you should always cheer the opposing pitcher if he's about to toss a perfect game. It's a once in a lifetime thing to see and it's nice to at the very least says "thanks and congrats, but we'll get you next time".

Now, if he tosses ANOTHER perfect game against your team or a shutout...you boo the living hell out of him.

I guess if you're a baseball fan over a fan of the team, yes.

I'm the other way around.

I couldn't hate him, even then.

Now, Schilling...

Bernie CLEARLY, CLEARLY safe at first, called out. The Umps are disgusting this year.

Tonight was the most disheartening night of the year if you are a reds fan. If they do not play well on this homestand thats it, they will be 7-8 games back and might as well trade off what they can.

No, not really. Not even close. We just sweapt the best team in the league. A loss hurts, but c'mon - it's not that bad. The Rockies have one damn good lineup, from top to bottom.

Nice to see Mr. Greek God get a start and Homer.

Jason Schmidt tosses a one-hitter tonight with 13 strikeouts against the Cubs. Didn't see the game but apparantly the one hit was an infield hit. And that goes as the SECOND best performance of the night.

Its not the one loss its the way they started off this stretch of the season. If they play like this during this homestand they will be 7-8 games out by the end of it. With 4 against the 1st place astros and then 3 against the Marlins this homestand will make or break their season. If they can hold ground that is great, but this team is not good enough to come back from 7 games out. They are 3 out now, these games on this homestand now are must win for this team.

Yankees may lose this game. To the 13 Angels in the field.

Honestly, I'd almost take a loss tonight. It's totally unreasonable to expect a team to beat a team as good as the Angels AND an umpire crew.

Kearns recalled. Romano, sent down. :)

In other news, Jimmy Haynes signed a MLC with the Toledo Mudhens (Detroit Tigers).

There was actually some talk of the Yankees signing him...

These injuries to The Cubs have just been unreal, now Sosa's heading to the DL. If somebody told me during spring training that in the first six weeks we'd lose Remlinger, Grudzielanek, Gonzo, WOOD, PRIOR, and SOSA and still be just one game back I'd have laughed my ass off. I predict The Cubs bounce back from last night's loss and win the next two, and just hope The Marlins can knock around The Astros a bit.

OH, and for those of you who are fans of The Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Cardinals, Reds, or whoever else, just waiting to see when Clemens will finally lose a game, it's coming soon.

I'm going to start a petition to keep the Jays off of the Wednesday afternoon games on ESPN. Terry Adams isn't a very good closer, anyway, but he's even worse, it seems, when ESPN's showing him try and save games.

Anybody seen the Grand Slam by LeCroy in the Twins vs Jays game?

Indeed.

And it all happened so quick. Good clutch hitting by Big Croy.
