Guest Choken One Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 yeah... AS...do you like ANY non-Yankee?
Mik Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 FYI, today is the season debut of TWIB, before Fox game of the week. It's already over if you had a 1 o'clock game, but it's on at 3:30 for me, because unforunately I am still in NY and we got the Yankees game (like it's not already on 4 other channels). Dontrelle Willis and Josh Beckett host. EDIT : TWIB = This week in baseball, for the 3 of you who probably didn't already know that.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I like David Wells, I like Randy Johnson, I like Tino Martinez, I like (the returning) Fred McGriff
Guest Anglesault Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I also like Orel Hershiser. He's just unhateable And Al Leiter. Sorry, not allowed to list former Yankees...
Kahran Ramsus Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I really REALLY hate the Jays bullpen. It resembles the Red Sox bullpen of last season. Also did you ever share your thoughts anywhere on your experience of going to Skydome and seeing Pedro/Halladay III? I had a great time. They actually won for once, and the atmosphere is much better at the Dome with the roof open.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 (edited) I've been planning on going on a big trip to Canada and seeing the Skydome and that Monstrosity in Montreal for a couple years now. Better get around to it this year. Edited May 22, 2004 by Anglesault
Guest Choken One Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I don't believe there will be a team In Montreal in couple years anyways...so you better run. You should go on a National Ballpark tour...every single fucking one of them and have a "Anglesault's Nitpickery" column where you complain about every MLB stadium and the cities in them.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I don't believe there will be a team In Montreal in couple years anyways...so you better run. That's why I said Better get around to it this year. You should go on a National Ballpark tour... I've been to a couple. Only truly awful one was the Vet.
alfdogg Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 You should go to Fenway. In an Aaron Boone jersey. And sit on top of the Monster.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I had a great time. They actually won for once, and the atmosphere is much better at the Dome with the roof open. Did you take any pictures? I still have pictures of the Celtics eliminating the Pacers last year in the playoffs. I should upload them and post them just to annoy Alf
Guest Anglesault Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I really don't like This Week in Baseball today. And what the hell did Josh Beckett do to his head?
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Jenny Finch has the perfect face for porn. She should give up the TWIB thing and call Jill Kelly
Bruiser Chong Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Glendon Rusch pitches a brilliant game, striking out nine and going 7 2/3 innings. Farns and Hawkins do their jobs and shut down the Cards. The Cubs struck early and that's all they needed, although I would've figured the game would've been longer and more high scoring with the wind blowing out like it was.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I have a hard time hating Dontrelle. It's tough to hate someone who looks like he's just having a total blast in every aspect of the game, right down to Boys and Girls Club commercials.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Anoter addition to the DL-- lefty reliever Kent Mercker. But Remlinger's finally returned, and we're just a half game back!
Bruiser Chong Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 The Merker thing's a bummer, but they're going back to May 16 with the DL stint, I believe, meaning he could be back around the same time Wood is.
The Czech Republic Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 So far, I'd have trouble disagreeing with a Wood-Prior-Clement-Zambrano-Rusch rotation.
razazteca Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Why is Contrases pitching for the Yankees again? He already gave up a Homerun and hit a batter.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I give Texiera credit. If I had been hit in the back with a 96mph fastball I'd either have been crying or gone into RAGE~ mode and attacked Contreras.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 OK, someone needs to sit down Bowa and explain something to him. Placido Polanco is coming back from the DL tomorrow (I think). Chase Utley has been filling in quite admirably for him, however Bowa is sticking to the "don't lose your spot due to injury" argument. Taking a look at the stats: Polanco - 112 AB, 25 H, 1 HR, 1 RBI, .223 BA, .304 OBP, .313 SLG, .000 RISP avg. Utley - 37 AB, 11 H, 3 HR, 13 RBI, .297 BA, .316 OBP, .649 SLG, .286 RISP avg. It clearly looks like Utley has outplayed Polanco (unless Al has some other stats that say otherwise), so it shouldn't be a question of injury costing him his place. I'd stick with Utley, but apparently it looks like Polanco will reclaim his spot.
Mik Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I have a hard time hating Dontrelle. It's tough to hate someone who looks like he's just having a total blast in every aspect of the game, right down to Boys and Girls Club commercials. Oh my god, it's a miracle.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Utley deffinately should be starting. Polanco seems lost at the plate and should be the utility infielder right now. I really wanted Polanco in Boston during the off-season too. Solo homers aside Ryan Drese is pitching a great game. Something tells me that Texas has their future ace in him. I hope he learns to just trust his stuff and keep the ball down, if he does go up the ladder on hitters it should be with his 4-seam fastball and not that slider.
the pinjockey Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I know we all enjoyed seeing Utley crank one 448 feet last night. The only real question going into this season with Utley would be the glovework, but his defense seems to have improved greatly since his stint last year (the crowd was going to go insane last night if he could have snagged the one off Wooten's glove). I wouldn't mind seeing them put Thome on the DL and let Utley play first for a week to keep him in the lineup. Thome needs the rest and he hasn't played in a few days, so it can be retroactive.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Does Utley even have any experience playing 1st base? I don't know if I'd do that - you've got to have some practice digging out low throws & such. Sticking him at 1st cold would have me a little concerned.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 I find it hard to get against Dontrelle, as well. Even last year during the postseason, as much as I hated the Marlins, I couldn't help but feel bad for him when he performed poorly. That includes him getting rattled by the Cubs in Game 4 of the NLCS. There's just so few players today that seem to genuinely love the game as much as he does, that you can't help but side with him.
the pinjockey Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 He played it a little in spring training. But other options if Thome goes on the DL would be Wooten (GOD NO!!!), Perez, and Pratt. I wouldn't really want Perez or Pratt getting extended time.
