Karaoke suggestions needed

Recommended Posts

Guest Black Tiger

I'm making my second ever visit to karaoke tomorrow night, and I don't know what to sing. I'm a big fan of early-mid 90's rock/grunge, but I don't wanna sing the same stuff I sang last week (STP: Plus, Blind Melon: No Rain, and Guns N' Roses: November Rain).

Any suggestions on stuff to sing? The place has like 3 or 4 songs from every band you could think of (the only exceptions so far are dope and The West Texas Rednecks)

Cracker-"Low" It's stupid easy, everyone knows it, and no one really likes it. Perfect bar song.

Sweet Caroline is always an easy karaoke song to do. Gets good audience participation.

I would've gone with "Sweet Child" instead of Nov. Rain. Slow serious songs usually bomb in my opinion. No one wants to hear you trying to sing seriously. It's about having fun. And being drunk.

Captain Beefheart-Neon Meate Dream of A Octafish.

I would marry the person that sang this on karaoke. Male or female. The whole bar would shit on it, and it would be beautiful.

How did you voice hold up on November Rain?

Guns N' Roses: November Rain

I couldn't sing that unless I was playing a piano.

Wouldn't feel right.

"Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter brings the house down every time.

CONGA!

I sang November Rain with this chick I met there, and we blew the roof off the place, everyone was clapping and telling us how great we were :) My voice held up fine, but I was pretty dry mouth afterwards.

So far here's what I'm thinking about singing:

Green Day: When I Come Around

STP: Big Empty or Sex Type Thing

AC/DC: Back In Black

The Offspring: Self Esteem

A buddy and I wanna do a duet of Mr. Crowley by Ozzy as well

I don't understand why people try to sing their favourite song and absolutely butcher it. Just do a drunken rendition of a really bad song - thats what kareoke is all about.

At least you don't live here in Australia where everyone sings Khe Shan by Cold Chisel every second song.

Depending on the bar, the songs to go for:

Hip-Hop/RnB/Rap place: Will Smith - Summertime, Biz - Just A Friend, Michael Jackson

Rock and all its heavier/softer sub-genre's: AC/DC will NEVER fail, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park for having easier to remember Lyrics.

Pop: Queen, The Jacksons, AC/DC, and Nsync ALL favorites

OH Danny Boy

Tears from heaven- clapton

Those would kind of kill the fun wouldn't they?

One of my favorite bars has Karaoke every Friday night. The best part of it is that the audience definitely let's you know when you suck. Seeing someone trying to be all serious and getting booed off stage = entertainment.

If I get talked into it, I do a hilarious rendition of a couple Cher songs.

Tom Petty songs get involved at every karaoke night in my town. Everything he's ever done is singable rock music.
