DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2004 Don't really like doing this because it exposes how poor my taste in things is, and I'll just be picking movies I mark for. But shit, my nominations list, which was mostly but not entirely serious, was thought to be a joke ballot anyway, so the cover is blown... Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted May 21, 2004 QUOTE (JumpinJackFlash @ May 20 2004, 03:50 PM) I was wondering...which movie knocked out Lawrence of Arabia? It wasn't even nominated. I can't believe that! I should've been here to nominate it. There's a lot of great films missing from here: Leone's spaghetti westerns The Wild Bunch Battleship Potemkin Singin' in the Rain Rules of the Game Rear Window The Killer And many more.... The fact that X Men 2 is in this tournament frightens me!

Because it had a stupid plot and Saddam playing with fake dicks and trying to fuck satan doesn't make it a great movie. It's funny, but it's not even close to great. That is because it is Charlie Ward and he doesn't know any better. Did you actually watch the movie Ward? Go watch it again and look past the dick jokes and what not. Just like every South Park episode, there is a meaning behind it. That is why it is a good, funny movie.

Yeah, there is a meaning behind it, but, like the episodes of South Park, it is rather jilted, which makes it even funnier to watch. As well as that BBCW, while it may not be the greatest film of all time, it may very well be one of the greatest comedies, a genre not often mentioned when discussing the very best of all time. As well as the other tweaked message, Trey Parker and Matt Stone do not fail in bringing laughter.

Guest Evolution Report post Posted May 21, 2004 Predator is a mighty fine action movie, but even when you're comparing genres with comedy and action with South Park and Predator, I would much rather go for South Park. Since there are 64 movies in this tournament, there are bound to be some good, but not great movies, just like with any other tournament ran here at TSM. In my opinion, it's a shame South Park got passed up for Predator (I'm also balking at putting the Breakfast Club ahead of South Park), but such is life, and all the South Park fans can hope for is an early exit for Predator. Unless you're a fan of both South Park and Predator. Then things get sticky-icky.

But if I had to do it here, I'd probably have to say South Park, even with the mass of variables.
