Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 25, 2004 No question, with chicago getting rocked by injuries and The reds managing to stay strong WITH injuries... The reds are a great team...even if idiots like Kruk refuse to do research and realize it.

DMann2003 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 It was nice when they were in 1st at the beginning, but it's so much more satisfying to see them fall and then claw their way back to best in the nationals (tied) and tied for best in the league.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Isn't it somewhat silly to point to the Reds' pitching as a success when they are 12th in the league in runs allowed? Actually the Reds only have 4 pitchers with an ERA over 5 and one of them was released. John Reidling has a .042 ERA in 22 IP. Graves, Wilson and Van Poppel are all pitching in the 3 ERA range and that's pretty good considering Van Poppel was thrown into a starter position. Lidle is a little ify but he just threw a complete game shutout. Harang is inconsistent but he's still really young. Acevedo is the same way but he does have 45 Ks before this game started. So really the pitching staff isn't doing that badly at this point in the season.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Casey with homerun #6. He's on pace for over 20 which is amazing for him.

Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 25, 2004 2-1 now. All of the hits (besides that Bagwell close shot) have been weak singles.
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 All right got out of that inning, let's get some runs on the board and stretch that lead out some.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 What's wrong with what Al said? Just because he's not prasing the Reds like everyone else and is point out facts doesn't warrant any hate. The Reds are playing good ball, but I still think they'll level out eventually. No question, with chicago getting rocked by injuries and The reds managing to stay strong WITH injuries... For the record, while you can't take injuries to anyone lightly, I don't think there's much of a comparison here. The Cubs have lost arguably their top three players, not to mention their everyday shortstop, not to mention one of their two lefty relievers. And yet, they're still contending. I think the only major injury Cincy has suffered was that of Kearns and he's already back. Let's see what happens if two or three of their major stars goes down for any period of time. Mik 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Yeah, the Reds are doing ok, but we won't be talking about this in three days after they are swept by Florida.

Mik 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 No he isn't. He's out of the rotation. You'll be seeing Tommy Phelps. Phelps, who is 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 12 relief appearances, will make his first start on Wednesday at Cincinnati.
