Guest gearhead Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Which match should be the main event at Bad Blood, HHH - HBK hell in a cell or the world heavyweight title match between Chris Beniot and Kane.?
Guest J0bber Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Without a doubt, Benoit/Kane since the World Title match should be built as the most important bout on the card, but it looks as though they are building towards the HBK/HHH hell in a cell match as the main event.
TheFranchise Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Without a doubt, Benoit/Kane since the World Title match should be built as the most important bout on the card, but it looks as though they are building towards the HBK/HHH hell in a cell match as the main event. In nearly most cases, yes, but the HIAC SHOULD be built as the most dangerous match there is, getting the main spot. You KNOW that's what the ppv ad's will be built around (not seen any, someone correct me if i'm wrong)
Guest Fook Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Benoit/Kane should be the main event. The title is more important than any personal hatred. The only times a HIAC match has been the main event is when it's for the title (NWO 2000, No Mercy 2002) or when there is no title match (Bad Blood 1997). No reason to change that now.
Guest ManKinnd Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Wasn't the Undertaker/HBK HIAC for the title at Bad Blood?
Guest Fook Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 No. Bret was champion at the time and he fought in the six man flag match that night.
The Mandarin Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HIAC, just so we can get that HBK/HHH shit over with.
Exslade ZX Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Meh...I actually think the HIAC should be teh main event. I mean...I don't because I agree with the format of the championship is more important, but in my EWR game...I realize I have HBK/HHH HIAC as the main event over Benoit/Edge...so evidently I agree wit the HIAC being the main event. Plus...Benoit/Kane as main event? Which hasn't even been really built up at all. So I say Hiac.
Lil' Bitch Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Benoit / Kane of course. If Hogan and Undertaker went on after a HIAC, why can't they?
2GOLD Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HIAC since Kane has been stinking up the ring on PPV and if he continues his trend it could drag the whole show down. HIAC you know will be a nice little blood bath, especially with the way Michaels has been blading lately. Kane's inconsistent PPV performances just has too much chance to drag down the title match. Plus, it's not even the most promoted match on RAW so why Main Event it. Kane is in an angle with Hardy/Lita, unless they just decided the perfect ending was Matt gets his ass handed to him and Lita does whatever Kane wanted is an ending.
Aero Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 No. Bret was champion at the time and he fought in the six man flag match that night. Actually, it was 2 on 2, but anyway, Benoit vs. Kane should go on last. As Deon already said, Hogan-Undertaker went last, so this Benoit vs. Kane definitely should, too, especially since this match has the potential to be good, judging by house show reports. Although, they really need to build it more with actual contact between Benoit and Kane this Monday on Raw, because Kane's 1 minute promo on Raw didn't really do it for me.
Dark Age Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 I think Triple H vs Shawn will be 'the main event' but Benoit vs Kane will go on last, if that makes any sense.
Guest Choken One Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 As much as it pains me to say, It has to be the HIAC match. It's the match that has and will continue to get the bigger push and it's a blowoff(supposedly) for a 24 month feud(dating back to august 2002)...while Benoit/Kane has appeared thrown together with no purpose yet...another example of set the match first, and then make the storyline. (it worked for Austin/Rock, Flair/Savage but i'm not sure if this will work out quite right). Each match will likely be good regardless but here's another thing to consider, In all liklihood, It's Triple H going over here. I believe this is the match that will FINALLY turn Shawn heel as Triple H leaves for the next few months for his movies. Shawn being the new #1 heel opens new angles....Vince loves to usually send the crowd happy (including me and many others at the board)...so we shall see if Benoit/Kane headlines for that purpose. The real question is...Will Shawn try to outbleed Eddy?
Guest Coffey Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 You know, it is possible to have a card billed as having more than one main event. I think the question you really wanted to ask is which match should go on last. That being said, despite not being for the title, I actually think that the Hell in a Cell match should be last. Don't get me wrong, the title match is very important, and should be deemed as so. But, the way I'm thinking about it is which happens less? You get a title match every month (if we're talking just Raw, it's every two months now). You get a HiaC, what? Once a year? WWE should just play up the fact that it'll be a double main event...then let the HiaC go last.
Guest Choken One Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 No doubt it'll get the Double Main Event tag... There's plenty of history of the title match going before the "big" match...so it won't really offend anyone...I don't think.
Internet Warfare Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HITC should be on last. The crowd will be hot for HHH/HBKand at the end they'll have no energy left for the World title match.
Tawren Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HHH/HBK. As much as I hate to say it, in storyline terms this is THE match and has been built up to far better than Benoit/Kane.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 No doubt it'll get the Double Main Event tag... There's plenty of history of the title match going before the "big" match...so it won't really offend anyone...I don't think. Benoit and Kane have faced eachother in a PPV title main event before, a 4-way at Unforgiven 2000.
Guest Choken One Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 umm...what does that have to do with it?
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Michael Vs. Triple H should and will go on last. I'm glad, since Kane's never stepped up when put in a main event. Despite these "positive house show reports", I'm skeptical. Let Benoit get his (probably DQ) win.
iggymcfly Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Also, HHH and HBK going on last allows them to do a non-finish in the Benoit/Kane match, continue the feud and not piss off the fans too bad. And when it is the real blow-off to a two year long feud, why not? I say HHH/HBK has to main event Bad Blood.
Si82 Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 I going to go with the Benoit/Kane match. As I've said before (in another thread, don't know which!) the championship should be the main focus point of a supershow as the champion is supposed to be the standard bearer for the brand. The exception to the rule is the royal rumble of course but I don't see why the championship match shouldn't main event. The HIAC match will probably end up being on last though.
King Cucaracha Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HHH/HBK should go on either last or midcard. If they put it right before Benoit/Kane, it'll KILL the crowd-heat. Throw HHH/HBK in midcard region like HHH/Austin at NWO 2001, and then follow it up with either Vicky/Gail or maybe a La Res match. Give the crowd time to re-group before Benoit/Kane. 'Cause you know Hunter and Shawn are going to go all out for this one.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HiaC. Two fucking years of build better end the show.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Orton vs Shelton In all seriousness, the HHH/Y2J HIAC would have gone on last if it wasn't the two biggest politickers fighting for the title (Hogan and Taker) and Hogan/Taker had a build that supposedly involved 1992. HHH/HBK will main event, despite Benoit/Kane being for the title. Just look who's in the cell.
Guest netslob Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 ideally, it would be the World title match. realisticly, it'll be HHH/HBK, if for no other reason then neither Benoit or Kane is fucking the right bitch.
CanadianChick Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 HIAC, for two reasons. 1) Convience. It's too much of a hassle to set up the thing, and then take it down so another match can take place. 2) If it's right before the title match, it'll just kill any heat that match has. The crowd will be too drained to care. It'll be like how the Jericho/HHH match was after Hogan/Rock at WM 18.
Guest Cheech Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Meh, I won't mind if the Hell in a Cell match is the main event. The feud has been going on for 2 years, and it will be an awesome match. Probably even better then Benoit vs. Kane. If it were Wrestlemania, it would be a different story, but I think it would be alright this time.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 I want the Hell in a Cell to end in a no-contest or "double knockout". Just so everyone on this board spontaneously combusts.
TheBigSwigg Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 2) If it's right before the title match, it'll just kill any heat that match has. The crowd will be too drained to care. It'll be like how the Jericho/HHH match was after Hogan/Rock at WM 18. The ironic thing is that HHH was the one who wanted the title match to be the ME at WM X8 instead of Hogan/Rock. His mentality was that the title should be more important than the Hogan/Rock Icon vs Icon idea. Wonder what he's saying now?
