Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 It's a nice DVD set but... but... It's not out this moment, seriously. Also, Hard Knocks. Reminds me of Mick Foley's Hard Knocks, Cheap Pops. Eh. Good job, I think to whoever picked the matches, but I might not have put the triple treat match and opted for something else. Does the WWE have Stampede footage? They could have used that.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted June 2, 2004 There was a mistake on who was the victor of one of Benoit's matches Benoit beat Eddie on the 10/16/95 as that was Benoit's Nitro wrestling debut. It was Eddie who beat Benoit controversially (Benoit's feet were under the ropes) in their Nitro rematch later on in November. The 10/16/95 makes the DVD worth purchasing all by itself. Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Now that I think about it, you're right. I tend to get those two matches confused. Benoit won the 10/16/95 Nitro match with a dragon suplex (or was it a tiger suplex), right?
edotherocket 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 How do you think this DVD will do sales-wise? Can it come close to touching the Ric Flair set?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Not even close. Ric Flair is a bigger name then Chris Benoit will ever be. You have to realize how many people grew up watching the Nature Boy and that this was a GREAT dose of nostalgia. Benoit doesn't have a market other then us and a good dose of the current viewers...Flair has been a well known name since 1981...Benoit only came into realtive promience a few years ago and until Early this year, wasn't a big name. It'll certaintly outsell the Mysterio, Cena, Brock, Shawn dvds but it won't be able to approach Flair's #'s.

Anyone have the figures on how well the Hogan one did? I remember it was one of the first WWE dvds to be more than 1 disc and have a shitload of extras on it. Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Looks great. Very surprised at the lack of WWE content pre 2004. But not a bad surprised.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Do we really need spoiler tags for matches that are 9 years old?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Those matches aren't really well known...so thus they could be considered a spoiler for some.
Guest slacklet Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Fricking AWESOME. Well done, WWE. Well done. Should be one of their best overall DVD releases ever. Still, I can't help thinking there's gonna be A LOT of pissed-off Benoit fans with complaints: "They didn't include [insert match from Japan]!!! Those idiots!! They're holding Benoit back!!" WTF No TLC 3 or Smackdown matches? Maybe they are holding that back for the Jericholic dvd? TLC 3 sucked balls. Not as much as TLC 4, but compared to the first 2 (which were properly planned out) it was shit. The Benoit-Austin matches I think would be better suited for an Austin compilation highlighting his heel-run.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Wheres Benoit vs Villano III for the WWF Light heavyweight title... since he is the Only WWE champion to be a former Light heavyweight champ and former Super J Cup champ.. more trivia Both Raw and Smackdown Champs faced each other in Super J cup 94. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 You could say Jericho was the first. AS he held the Cruiser championship, and thats now a part of the Light Hvy. title.
Blade2kxx 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I'm kinda disappointed that the Raven's Rules match from Souled Out and the Austin match is missing. However, this set looks awesome regardless.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 since he is the Only WWE champion to be a former Light heavyweight champ and former Super J Cup champ.. Seeing as only Liger or Marafuji (as of now) ever have a chance at also accomplishing that, it isn't something to call a big deal.
Guest Ray Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Gotcha... I wasn't sure which Best of 7 match they took (i don't remember who won which)... Six? Wow. but two of those six matches were ****3/4+...so it's ok. I almost died laughing at the thought of Booker T having a ****3/4+ match. I'd like to know how any of the Booker/Benoit matches are anywhere near that level...

I think he was talking about the matches on the DVD which Benoit lost (I erroneously said that Benoit lost six of the matches listed).

Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I'd like to know how any of the Booker/Benoit matches are anywhere near that level... Not really... Most of the matches were **3/4-***1/2 level. Such a over rated series of matches.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 FUCKING. STOKED. This DVD set is gonna be all fucking kinds of awesome, I can 100% truthfully say that I am not dissapointed in the least. I've yet to see the Owen Tribute match, ditto for the Eddy match on Nitro. I recally Regal vs Benoit being really badass but I only watched it a few times on a dl'd copy off Kazaa. And yeah. Lyger and Sasuke on DVD. Fucks yes.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Sooo... This begs the question...since it doesn't seem to be in Chapter format like Flairs and just a collection of matches... Whats the first Match you will go to? I'll likely Do it in this order 1). Owen Tribute Match 2). Pillman Memorial 3). Start from the first match through the last match *Wonder if they'll include any eggs and if so...what should they be?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I do think it's funny that Benoit's greatest rival (at least on American soil) isn't on the dvd (Jericho). I really think they should have shown a Benoit/Jericho match in place of the Angle/Benoit Rumble Match... I know they had a supposedly ***** match in Japan...not sure if they have access to it but they had many **** matches in WCW and WWE...
