Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 2, 2004 With the National TV Deal in place, TNA needs to get some REAL songs for their workers. The in house themes are generally not that great, and it just makes them seem Minor League. Particularly when most INDY groups use the real songs. I mean, come on, Daniels making his big intro to Disposable Teens in front of a couple thousand fans would be AWESOME. Agree? Disagree? Oh, and what themes would you give to the wrestlers? TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I hope by gettting real themes, you mean music that doesn't sound like it came out of a can. Otherwise, you'll forever be disappointed.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Well yea, like getting REAL songs that fit the wrestler's gimmick/personality.... Monte Brown coming out to Welcome to teh Jungle would be PRICELESS.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Until TNA hits WWE levels, I don't think anyone will get anything but the crappy music they have now. This isn't necessarily because of the price of music, but because the only place they look is to the major labels. If they looked to independent labels, they might actually get one that will let them use their music for cheap, the only problem being that the Jarretts aren't quick enough to do that. Until they start MAKING money, we're stuck with tin can "reproductions" of real songs.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I'm not sure. Panda hasn't been shy about shelling out dough thus far. I could see them busting out the check book for some big name music.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted June 2, 2004 If they were smart they would actually find acts to record songs for them. I mean main stream artists too. This way they could actually sell this as merchandise and if they picked the right acts it could be a successful product that they should be able to get into stores. I'm pretty sure Panda has their limits, and would see shelling out cash for music as a bit of overkill. I'm not sure they should go for mainstream acts either. I would just be happy if they had a better soundguy and music that wasn't obvious ripoffs of mainstream songs.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 2, 2004 WCW didn't use real songs. If you make your own music, you don't have to worry about paying for the songs down the road in video games or on DVDs.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 WCW didn't use real songs. If you make your own music, you don't have to worry about paying for the songs down the road in video games or on DVDs. Since when was WCW brought into this discussion. I think you're trying to throw us off topic!
Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I was just using them as an example of someone that used "fake" songs. Sure, most of them were rip-offs of popular songs by popular bands, like Nirvana, but they didn't have to pay extra for them.
Guest Joe_G Report post Posted June 2, 2004 The problem with using "real" songs is that you come off as bush league. You don't want to be using the same tactics as the tiniest indy. Using "in house" themes gives the impession of being more upscale. Of course, when you don't have the resources of a WWE, you run the risk of cheesy songs like most of the TNA themes I've heard (AJ Styles "you are, you are, I am, I am" song comes ro mind). TNA's probably better off using the in house songs. Monte Brown probably wants a new song. I heard he came out for an interview a few weeks ago and said "Turn that crap off." The crap in question was his own theme music.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 I think they need to quit ripping off songs and using their own. They also need a better sound mix, because you can barely hear their themes over the commentary. Though this isn't bad sometimes, other times it is. Part of WWE's success comes from their good production, and TNA should learn from that.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 2, 2004 TNAW doesn't have that much money....
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 They could very easily find mid-level bands that'd be stoked just to get the extra notoriety of having their songs used (Monster Magnet, for example, or Rob Zombie) ... and then they could release an album of just these songs. Kind of like ECW did. Yes, it'd be better to have famous songs by famous artists, but it'd also be much more expensive.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Agreed. The ECW route of no-name/lower level bands producing catchy songs (coupled with the odd 'Enter Sandman' of course) would be better than their current set-up. Some better entrance videos would be nice too, in an ideal world.
Guest Donners Report post Posted June 3, 2004 Doesn't seem worth the cost IMO - unless they're going to hire Sandman and Balls Mahoney again.
Guest JacK Report post Posted June 3, 2004 I like AJ's theme song . . . that and the new church's. And Jarrett's one kind of grows on you after a while, if only because you can see where I live in his opening video thing. I think really they need to improve their video clips. Is AJ's still that one showing stills of the 3 or 4 moves. Would it really be that hard to at least show *moving* footage of those 3/4 moves? Really? Is it? And would it be hard to expand it from 3 or 4 to say, 6 or 8?
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 Their videos are hopeless. I think they would be better off to NOT show videos right now rather than show them. They look like some high school announcements I've seen.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2004 They should worry about making the show good before worrying about making the music good.

Celtic Jobber 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 They should just get Jimmy Hart to work on all of their in-house themes. He did a pretty good job of that when he was in the WWF and WCW.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2004 If the music is a problem, either get some more people into their music department, or find some indy and underground bands with a sound following and have them record some tunes for TNA. Hell, I somehow doubt that an entrance theme from Pro-Pain or even ICP would cost too much, seeing as how Pro-Pain are pretty underground, and ICP are fans of wrestling and fans of TNA (to the point where they were on TNA, and the only thing worth watching for a while). Guest netslob Report post Posted June 4, 2004 I mean, come on, Daniels making his big intro to Disposable Teens in front of a couple thousand fans would be AWESOME. Daniels used 'Disposable Teens' as theme music? huh, never had him pegged for a Manson fan. yeah, they need to go the 'Real' songs route. it can't be THAT expensive...hell, ECW did it and they were on a shoe-string budget. Guest netslob Report post Posted June 4, 2004 true, but they stayed afloat for almost ten years, and managed to still get the rights to really good, mainstream songs. TNA should have no problem doing this at all.

Definitely. I'm sure they could easiy get any of the Century Media bands (Lacuna Coil, God Forbid, Shadows Fall) relatively easily. They could propably barter band placement, kinda like what WWE does with their promo songs from Saliva, Puddle of Mudd, etc.
