411 writer Eric Szulczewski spits on Reagan's tomb

Recommended Posts

Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes

Wait...this guy is a 40+ year old Internet columnist...on Smackdown? (or whatever show) Damn...well, I don't know how to respond to that.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but it's safe to say if someone opinion is opposite your own, it will cause an argument no matter what.

Big deal. Eric is as entitled to his opinion as everyone else. I read him before this, and I'll continue to read him now that he's demonized Reagan. Yes, I liked Reagan, as a man and a President, but I'm not going to go off on a tirade because someone wrote a column on a wrestling site that contained bad words about him.

Was this the same douche that kept on using the word "junta" in relation to Bush with absolutely no idea what the word meant?

ok, i'm probably gonna get banned for this ('cause heaven forbid i show a dissenting opinion)

Just STFU already. It's been proven as long as you aren't a total shithead about your beliefs that you won't get banned on this board. If you want to troll and threaten the President like Unger did then you deserve to get the boot.

But playing martyr = fun.

indeed it is

I was amazed that Eric didn't say more. The moment he died I was thinking "Sucklemeski is gonna have a field day with this." I think he held back. I stopped caring about anything he's said since oh, um, 4 or 5 years ago? There will always be some people who have the opposite opinion of popular opinion. That's life. Just ignore eric and maybe someday he'll disappear.

Reread what I said. I said you won't get banned unless you want to act like Unger did.

the way you've worded this, i assumed you meant that i, in some way, had made some statement to the effect that i had threatened the president. if this was not your intention, then i apologize. no hard feelings...? :)

FrigidSoul, you're a moron. Unless someone is randomly spouting off "LOL HE DIED WHAT A FUCKWAD :(" about the man, who cares if they speak a dissenting opinion against the flood of praise being showered upon the man by the media? I mean, for Chrissakes, you'd think a former President has never died. If people want to criticize his record, they should feel free. It's a tragedy that he had to suffer so badly, but that doesn't make him "untouchable" to criticism. God forbid Wellstone wasn't; he was demonized alongside all of the liberals who had the AUDACITY to honor him at his funeral.

And regarding the Wellstone funeral that KKK and Mike are claiming was a BLATANT HUGE OMFGPOLITICORALLY, did you guys even watch the thing, or did you just see the highlights on Fox News? There was one speaker who decided to politicize it, and the extent of it was "Let's win this for Paul!"

It was a two hour ceremony, and as it was said before, perhaps fifteen minutes of it was made political by a sobbing friend of Wellstone's.

And as for exploiting deaths for political advantage? Well, gee, Republicans couldn't possibly be above that, could they?

Aides to Mr. Bush and Mr. Kerry said they did not want to do anything that would make it appear that they were exploiting the news of Mr. Reagan's death. But in one sign of what may lie ahead, Republicans circulated old quotes from Mr. Kerry in which he criticized Mr. Reagan. Democrats promptly dug up instances of the first president Bush speaking unkindly about Mr. Reagan in 1980, as the two men competed for the Republican nomination.

Politics as usual.

And who the hell cares about 411? It's not like anyone gives a damn what a 40 year old lard assed wrestling fan thinks about Reagan's death.

I personally am deleting the 411 links from my favorite places.

Fuck you, stop reading and go have a great day.

I'll be sure to send you a PM when we don't have freedom of speech anymore so you don't have to read things you might not like. Mommy, make the bad man stop typing!

Did anyone read the hate mail Scott Keith got today? This part is absolutely hilarious:

BY THE WAY, YOU JUST COST YOURSELF AT LEAST FIVE BOOKS SINCE I WILL LET MY FRIENDS WHO ARE FANS OF WRESTLING KNOW ABOUT THIS, AND I WILL ALSO GO INTO EVERY SINGLE BARNES AND NOBLE/BORDERS IN MY AREA AND HIDE YOU BOOKS.

Actually I heard it from that right-winger Jesse Ventura, who ended up putting a person in his own party to take Wellstone's slot as a result of the aforementioned event.

It seems to me quotes like this are being brought up to show that people who didn't like Reagan are now acting otherwise.

Wow, two people competing for a national office in a primary are saying bad things about each other? GET OUT OF HERE.

Oh, on a side note, wtf is up with this whining I've been hearing from some groups about putting Ronnie's face on currency? Jesus, how petty...

I personally thought that Reagan, on the whole, was a decent US president; he had his good and bad points just like any world leader.

I'm an avid reader of Eric S and I don't agree with all he says but he's always an interesting read nonetheless. I can't help but think that the "i'm not going to 411 again!" brigade are over reacting a tad.

Meh, I'm not surprised, nor do I care. At least he kept his word (said he'd celebrate when Reagan died).

Thing is, he got an audience by getting onto his soapbox, but Scooter did it for some other reason... *shrug*

Scott Keith also badmouthed Reagan on his blog:

Jun. 7th, 2004 @ 12:08 pm

Just wanted to get off a quick rant about Ronnie Reagan, who has posthumously become a hero of American lore thanks to CNN, and while you don't want to see anyone suffer a painful death in their waning years, I hated Reagan and his politics and specifically his terrifying ideas of building up massive amounts of nuclear weapons as a deterrent to war so much that I just can't share in the love for him now that he's dead.

Periods, Scooter: use 'em.

He can't really argue with the results, it's he *idea* he's protesting, though. The Cold War may have certainly been expensive and the prospects frightening, it ended without any direct acts of war or violence. Although Reagan's lucky that there were no situations (to my knowledge) like the Cuban missile crisis. Then things would have been far more difficult to handle.

If it's the only thing that keeps the peace, thank God for the bomb.

It seems to me quotes like this are being brought up to show that people who didn't like Reagan are now acting otherwise.

I'm sure that plenty of politicians like Reagan even if they didn't like his politics. If Kerry/Bush had disagreements about certain policies, so be it. That's to be expected. If they aren't personal remarks, why would it matter?

Yeah. If you're not going to go to 411, it should be because most of their writers are talentless hacks. Not because of one of them typing something that got under your skin.

Well, the TV stations are doing their part to piss him off, so no further work is required.

Though I usually like Ventura, he was obviously so out-of-touch with the event that allegedly he was actually loudly chewing gum during the program.

I guess I'm just surprised that some people could be so utterly disrespectful. I mean if a former Canadian prime minister died you wouldn't hear people in the U.S. going "Rot in hell" on the issue. I think the worst people in North America are closed minded Canadian Left Wingests. They don't respect anything and try to force their opinions on you. If you disagree then your right wing filth.

American actions have a much larger effect on Canada than vice versa so obviously Canadians would have stronger opinions.

FrigidSoul, you're a moron. Unless someone is randomly spouting off "LOL HE DIED WHAT A FUCKWAD :(" about the man, who cares if they speak a dissenting opinion against the flood of praise being showered upon the man by the media?

Umm, Eric did exactly that.

I mean, for Chrissakes, you'd think a former President has never died.

Nixon didn't even get that kind of reaction.

Name one conservative that criticized Wellstone post-mortem. Just one. Go ahead. As for the funeral --- well, his campaign treasurer's whole "We are begging you to help us win this Senate election for Paul Wellstone" line, I SUPPOSE, could be viewed as non-political. Him trying to get Republicans to support Mondale might be viewed as non-political. His kids screaming "We will win!" might be viewed as non-political. Sen. Harkin's speech might be viewed as non-political.

Of course, you'd have to be a total idiot to view them as such...

BTW, the Minneapolis Stat Tribune --- not exactly a right-wing rag --- likened Harkin and Kahn's chanting to "Nazi or totalitarian rallies". The state Democratic Party issued a statement saying that the event "may have crossed the line".

But you know who DIDN'T comment on it? His opponent.

Yes, and his treasurer, children, and Sen. Harkin all made it political, hate to break it to ya.

It was a two hour ceremony, and as it was said before, perhaps fifteen minutes of it was made political by a sobbing friend of Wellstone's.

Umm, no offense --- but so fucking what? It was done. Who cares what percentage of the "service" it consisted of. That is what it became. BLAME THE DAMNED PARTICIPANTS who did it --- not people for pointing it out.

But, I forgot --- the left wouldn't go so far as to politicize a death.

And as for exploiting deaths for political advantage? Well, gee, Republicans couldn't possibly be above that, could they?

Care to paste the story, as I have no desire to register for that rag's site.

And that is wrong.

Personally I stopped reading Eric S. after it got to the point that he would be recapping shows that I had actually watched and I still had no idea what he was talking about since he kept referring to everyone by dumb nicknames that made little to no sense. Seriously, calling The Rock 'Flex' because of a gimmick he had in the USWA was never funny and only made less and less sense as he kept doing it. This political hyper-liberalism-so-bad-actual-liberals-are-tired-of-it does not make me want to read him any more.

PS: The good writer at 411 is Leonard Hayhurst in the movies section.

I think every U.S. citizen should either boycott 411 now or write a letter to the person running the site about stuff like this. I mean it hasn't even been a week and a bajillion of their Canadian born writers are pissing on Reagan's grave. Try to tell them they're foolish about it and they call you right wing filth. I personally am deleting the 411 links from my favorite places.

Heaven forbid an American have a different opinion then yours.
