Angels haven't been scoring well recently and Clemens has looked great.

So to see us 3 - 0 up after 3 iin Houston is quite a surprise.

The Phillies should make Polanco their utility infielder and have Utley start at second

Better yet, play both Polanco AND Utley, and bench either Rollins or Bell. And as Pinjockey said, heaven forbid they cut Doug Glanville. You can't find a .500 OPS just anywhere.

Does Utley have the arm to play 3rd? I don't see any reason to sit down or trade Bell at this point (at least not without getting a 3rd baseman in return).

CF is the position they need to address. Byrd's been atrocious all season.

Went to my first game at Citizen's Bank last night. Beautiful stadium.

I had the misfortune of watching Utley play third at Scranton. He fielded a ball in the first inning, and promptly launched it into the stands past third. Besides, Polanco can play all three infield positions, so he'd be the one to move at any point.

Byrd will be fine. I maintain it is just an extended slump, and he'll be fine. Those fans calling for Carlos Beltran are definately overreacting.

This is today's Yankees starting pitcher. I've never heard of him in my life.

Brad Halsey began the year completely off the radar. He was an eighth round pick in the 2002 draft. Coming into this season, he posted a 3.66 ERA in 231 minor league innings. Still, he tore up AAA this season, going 6-2 with a 2.52 ERA, and a 51/19 K:BB ratio in 82 innings. Decent K rate, great BB rate. All in all, not bad for a fill-in.

While I agree that Beltran would be overreacting, I disagree with the assessment of Byrd. I think they need to do something in centerfield *cough*Ledee/Byrdplatoon*cough*. I mean, is he really good enough to suffer through his slow starts each year. He has looked completely lost at the plate this year.

In case Jerry Reinsdorf is reading (or watching the game), he needs to spend the money on another starting pitcher. We'll be 0-8 in 9 starts out of the 5th spot, with Arnie Munoz giving up 10 earned in 2 innings today. This is our 5th person in the 5th spot, and none have worked.

Bringing in a quality starter will move Garland to the 4th spot and Schoeneweis to the 5th spot, which would be a really good 4-5 for the AL central (or almost anywhere). But, if history indicates anything, I'm not holding my breath for a move to be made.

Last night, someone a few sections over from me yelled out to Byrd "there's your replacement" in reference to Beltran.

My seats were in section 103 (right field), and there were a number of fans who were all over Abreu (he's lazy, didn't hustle in the field, "Bobby Baseball" in a smart ass fashion).

It is always great when they get on him for not catching a ball that is nowhere near him. Seriously, a ball could be right behind first and they will complain he should have run and got it instead of Thome or Polanco.

It will be interesting to see what happens in regards to the All-star game is Milton even goes .500 in his next 4 starts (21 games left before the break). If he goes into the break 11-3, or something similar, I would think it would be hard to leave him off the team even though he hasn't pitched like an all-star.

Lets see. Clemens, Big Unit, Glavine, C. Zambrano, Schmidt, Sheets, and Paul Wilson are easy. That leaves 3-4 more slots. At least one of those will go to Livan Hernandez so the Expos are representated (and he deserves it anyway). So that's a tough fight for Milton to make the squad.

I missed the game (I was at the beach) So I came online tday to find out the results. Just now, they posted caps of the game on my favorite Yankee board, so I actually saw Halsey for the first time two minutes ago.

Imagine my shock when I saw an eight year old.

If it weren't for the walks, I would include Kaz Ishii in there too.

I really have no clue who should go for the Jays. Halladay seems like the only choice at this point, even though he's been inconsistent most of the year (granted, he did have high expectations after last year). I would have chosen Wells, but he's hurt now and I'm not even sure he'd be back in time for the game, and if he is back, I don't want him getting re-injured in an exhibition game (even if 'it counts').

Twins have Joe Nathan and possibly Lew Ford making the team.

Speaking of the Twins. They need bullpen help. Terry Muholland has no business being in the game with the score tied in the 8th inning.

That happened at my game. There was a pop fly foul behind 1st that Thome couldn't catch up to, and the fans were on Abreu for not hustling to get it.

There were a couple shots into the right field corner that they were on his case about, also.

It appears that Anaheim just lost Jarrod Washburn to an injury as he comes out after 2innings having given up no runs. In the past couple days their rotation has taken a hit losing Arron Sele to shoulder stiffness and now Washburn to whatever this is. Couple that with Glaus out for the rest of the season, Percival on the DL, and whomever else they have that's injured and it doesn't look good for them.

with plays like that one in centerfield, who wouldn't want to pay Beltran 18 million.

"Five-tool" my ass

BTW, the Royals should hit Thome, or somebody. They hit Santiago, Stinnett and nearly hit Sweeney. And Thome hit two off of Reyes.

The Royals pitchers are freaking wusses

Hit against St. Louis' Matt Morris...which is no surprise as Morris leads the majors in home runs allowed.

I'm pissed at how ESPN hasn't broken away from their random shitty programming to cover it though. If Bonds were to pick his nose they would be all over it.
