The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I was reading discussions at various sports forums that speculate George Shinn's Hornets are already struggling in New Orleans and once again they may be taking the team on the road. I haven't heard anything reliable, so it's not like I'm publishing fake news. I was just wondering if anybody else has heard about financial struggles this early in the game for the New Orleans Hornets.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Moving A team to a convention city wasn't the smartest idea... There is a reason the Jazz left...Basketball isn't "over" in Nawlins. I still contend a Louisville team would be very good as Basketball Craved cities like Charlotte (prior to Shin's bullshit) and Indiana are amongst the best fan bases. I know everyone will say "VEGAS!" but Vegas doesn't give you a Solid fanbase and who goes watching a basketball game when you can gamble?

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 What about your Crimson Tide? I'm sure most of those athlete-students are on the team just to get an education. And don't forget these guys...
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I doubt the NBA will let them move so soon after moving out of Charlotte.

Well, you got Alabama and Auburn, but the only reason those players are so overpaid is because we got nothing else. I mean seriously, the attendance at the 2 NBDL teams and the Minor League baseball games are way to high. People get bored and go watch shitty sports. Give us a pro team. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Bring them to Cincy. Lord knows I don't want to root for the horribly run Cavs anymore.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I read just recently (maybe ESPN the Magazine?) that the league was pressuring the Hornets about moving because they want the owner (Shinn?) to sell the team. Now, I don't follow the NBA at all, so have no idea why they'd want him to sell, or how they think they could do so, but in answer to the question in the original post, yes, I have heard that there are rumors of the team moving again. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 They want Shinn to sell because he's a sleazy old man who's been hit with numerous sexual harrassment suites and as had one known affair with a secretary.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Feeling bad for N'Awlins here, they built that new arena and everything and now the NBA wants the Hornets out of there.

Hektik 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 Hey, bring them to San Diego. We used to have the Rockets and the Clippers. I think San Diego deserves another shot at NBA basketball.
converge241 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 "I doubt the NBA will let them move so soon after moving out of Charlotte" as nl5x pointed out yes the league is pushing for the move they had to go somewhere, anywhere to get away from the hate in charlotte towards the owner so NO was an option even if it turns out to be temporary
