Gert T 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Roll the dice on Wallace, especially for the 1.4 million price tag. I would probably give Moochie Norris a shot at 3.8 million too.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 But no matter what they do. With their last pick, take Popeye Jones or Bo Outlaw. Those guys are 1000% hustle. I actually met Popeye Jones in a mall in Washington, DC. Cool dude.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 Houston Rockets: Maurice Taylor Stupid. Why is it stupid? Taylor's an inconsistent scorer, a poor rebounder (especially for his postion), and is soft defensively. The combination of him and Cato at the 4 this year killed the Rockets more than anything else, and even moreso because they play in the West. Taylor is a max contract guy too, which makes him ridiculously overpaid for what he gives you. Add that into the fact that the Rockets are basically in salary cap hell and it's a no-brainer to leave him exposed. And speaking of Cato, I'm pretty surprised he isn't on this list as well. I would probably give Moochie Norris a shot at 3.8 million too. I think that would be insane. Moochie just isn't a very good player, and he's really overpaid at 3.8 mil. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 14, 2004 So who would you make a team out of? I'd take Juan Dixon, Brandon Hunter, Kerry Kittles, Glenn Robinson, Chucky Atkins, Antoine Walker and work from there. Robinson, Walker and Hunter would be a big rebounding presense. Kittles can help groom Dixon, and Atkins can hold down the point until they drafted a better option.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2004 I'd make up a team, but I can't be bothered to add up salaries right now, plus their draft picks have to be figured in too. Guys I'd almost certainly take though are Hunter, Skinner, Stevenson and Dixon.
Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 alfdogg, I agree with you about Wallace, but Adelman wasn't going to play him, anyway... If he develops into a star in Charlotte, I'm going to be highly pissed.
Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Id be all over Forreston. Walker is way too much, for eveyone who is picking him. Dixon is also as much as gone. Big thing we have to realize is that Detroit and LA havnt done theirs yet. You might be able to pry 1 young guy out of LA (Like Rush, Walton or Cook) But Detroit is a Gold mine. Rasheed is the only big name who isnt signed, so Detroit will have LOTS of guys unprotected.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 And on a sidenote...Michael Stewart is making 4.8 million a year?!?!?! Has he even played an entire game's worth of minutes yet? There's a reason why Glen Grunwald is unemployed. Yogi Stewart's contract was one, and at least three other unprotected players (Jerome Williams, Alvin Williams and Antonio Davis) have contracts from his tenure in Toronto. Alvin Williams needs a change of scenery. He also needs new knees, so I don't expect him to be drafted...
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 A possible Christian Laettner/Grant Hill reunion back in North Carolina would be pretty cool. Haven't the Bobcats also shown interest in signing Jay Williams when he is healthy?
The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 All the Brandon Hunter love in here is awesome... I got to watch him for three years at OU, and aside from the layup I scored over him in a pick-up game (true story), I know he's a hell of a talent. The guy can sink a mid-range jumper or two and he's a terrific rebounder. I really don't understand the Celtics... They draft Hunter at No. 56 last year, give him a guaranteed two-year contract (unheard of for someone drafted so late), then put him on the block a year later after he was productive in what limited minutes they gave him. By the way, watch for Jason Kapono of the Cavs to get drafted. He's a sharpshooter and he's making the league minimum... Perfect candidate to get taken in a late round. ant_7000 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Boston Celtics: Brandon Hunter $620 K X Chicago Bulls: Jerome Williams $5.6 Million or Eddie Robinson $6.7 Million (Please take him) Dallas Mavericks: Antoine Walker $14.6 Million or Danny Fortson $5.9 Million Golden State Warriors: J.R. Bremer Houston Rockets: Eric Piatkowski Memphis Grizzlies: Lorenzen Wright $7.2 Million New Jersey Nets: Rodney Rogers $3.3 Million New Orleans Hornets: Courtney Alexander $3.0 Million New York Knicks: Penny Hardaway $14.6 Million Philadelphia 76ers: Aaron McKie $5.5 Million Portland Trailblazers: Qyntel Woods $1.2 Million Sacramento Kings: Gerald Wallace $1.4 Million San Antonio Spurs: Malik Rose $5.5 Million Seattle Sonics: Jerome James $4.5 Million Toronto Raptors: Alvin Williams $5.8 Million or Lamond Murray $4.7 Million Utah Jazz: Jarron Collins $0 Washington Wizards: Juan Dixon $1.1 Million $0 connotates FA or player/team has not taken option These are the players I would take if I was a GM. I'd Draft Livingston and Get a Center in the 2nd round. I doubt the Bobcats would take big contracts unless the player's current contract has a year or 2 left on it. Charlotte could make the playoffs next year, especially since the Division and Conference they will be in is the weakest in the league.
humanoid92 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 Most of you seem to be forgetting about the amount of money they're allowed to spend. It's not like they can just stack up Eddie Jones, Kittles, Penny, Walker, etc. I forget the exact number, but I'm pretty sure theeir salary cap is somewhere in the $25-30 million range. So if they were to take either Walker at 14 mill or Houston at 17 mill, that would leave them with 10-15 million dollars to spend on 13 other guys... or, 1 million per player. And as you can see, there aren't thirteen good players on that list that make 1 million or less. Try picking 14 guys from that list that make a combined $30 million. This team will NOT be good next year; they'll be quite terrible. It's tough to be an expansion team in the NBA... just look at how long it took the Grizzlies to make the playoffs. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2004 ^ i heard the number rough out to about 29 mil, but 30 is a nice round estimate. You can't blow over half your money on Allan Houston.

They can only spend 2/3rds of the salary cap. I think its closer to 40. But I will pick 10 with a 26 mill cap, cuz I will defiantly take a Laker and a Piston when thos elist are avialable. Chuck Woolery 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 Chuck Woolery's 2004-05 Charlotte Bobcats (using the $30 million salary cap): Brandon Hunter ($620k, Boston) Marcus Fizer ($4.9 million, Chicago) Kevin Ollie ($2.7 million, Cleveland) Tony Delk ($3.2 million, Dallas) Anthony Johnson ($932k, Indiana) Eddie House ($825k, Los Angeles Clippers) Jake Tsakalidis ($2.3 million, Memphis) Alonzo Mourning ($5.4 million, New Jersey) Reece Gaines ($1.2 million, Orlando) Qyntal Woods ($1.2 million, Portland) Gerald Wallace ($1.4 million, Sacramento) Charlie Ward ($1.1 million, San Antonio) Aleksander Pavlovic ($1.1 million, Utah) Juan Dixon ($1.1 million, Washington) This team would leave just over two million for draft picks, et cetera, and would be at least decent on the court. If Mourning could stay healthy, he could mentor Tsakalidis... ...eh, they're going to suck. Only being able to use two-thirds of the salary cap is a HUGE disadvantage considering the contracts of some of the people on there.

Chuck Woolery 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2004 I didn't figure as much, but it was real slim pickings. Feel free to substitute Rodney Rodgers in for him, giving them another two mil to work with. Still... maybe it'll be a bit easier when the Lakers/Pistons lists come out. Doing that team was an unforgiving bitch, though, and I shudder to think of the suckitude this team will bring to the table.
